Our experience at Wasabi was fine, but only fine. My meal arrived almost 15 minutes before my husband's, which was rather awkward. The food was okay. We probably won't go back.
I'm vegan, no big deal. At asian places it's usually easy to find something to eat. So I ordered the Veggie Hibachi ENTREE. The chef did his thing, cooking a big pile of veggies which he served as sides to everyone at the table eating...meat. When he came to me he served the same portion, same thing, NOTHING ELSE. I paid $12 for fried rice & a SIDE of veggies. LAME! Everyone in my family was embarrassed that they took me there so I had to assure them it was ok. It wasn't. Don't make the same mistake if you have a vegetarian in your party. And honestly, the rest of the food was mediocre at best and the place was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation.More
sat at table & ordered from menu. California Roll appetizer lacked flavor & ginger slices didn't taste fresh. food tasted ok, nothing fabulous. service less than desired. when asked if sauce contained MSG, HE Didn't know what it was. i have lived in Murfreesboro over...10 yrs and never been here, nor will i return.More
I have ate here three times in the past six months. The reason why I even returned in the first place is because this restaurant is right by my house and hibachi is my favorite! However, last night will be the last time that I...will give them my business. For some odd reason, every single time I have gone the chef we get never does anything to make the experience fun. He doesn't even introduce himself, or say a word. The only thing he says is asking who got what and how they want their steak cooked. The first time, I just assumed the chef was new, or having a bad day or something considering the two tables beside of us had a chef that was laughing and doing the fun stuff involving hibachi: the onion fire, throwing the eggs on the spatula, catching pieces of food in mouth, the 'pee-boy,' etc. The second time, we got the same chef I guess. The only reason why I assume that is because the experience was the exact same! My boyfriend got shrimp, and the chef gave everyone two pieces of HIS shrimp!!! He was barely left with any of his own entree. There were 8 other people that we did not know at the table and he gave everyone pieces of his meal.... The third time, it just so happens that we got the same chef once again. Considering he never introduces himself, I have no idea what his name is, so its hard to recall the chef each time, but I immediately realize it once he comes to the table and doesn't do any cool tricks or anything! The reason I decided to post this is because, towards the end (the eating part of the meal, after the chef leaves the grill), this terrible smell of CAT PEE filled the room. I remember as I was leaving the last time we smelt the cat pee too for a few minutes. Literally disgusting. The food is decent, but the service is just awful, and the cat pee is enough for me to let people know about this. I kept hoping for a change because it's so close to my house, but I will not be returning to this restaurant.More
If you want a GREAT Japanese Dinner and a very reasonable price....THIS IS THE PLACE! Always fantastic food in a fun environment. Our go-to choice is the Tennessee Special for 2. Filet Mignon cooked medium rare simply just melts in your mouth. All are great...chefs but Chino and Thu are our favorites!!!More
First off let me say that this isn't a high class Hibachi Japanese restaurant. If you are looking for a good atmosphere and good food then this is the place to go. My wife and I meet her Aunt and Uncle for lunch. We had...never been here before. The Chef was were likable and put on a good show. I did notice that the Chef on the table next to ours wasn't doing that much with the people. Probably all depends on the Chef and the people at the table. I do not eat sushi so I can't tell you if it is good or not. I can tell you that the Hibachi Grill is the way to go. You will get more portions if you sit at one of their grills. They will wait and try to fill up a table before they start cooking though. A table sits 8 people. The Hibachi Chicken comes with soup, salad then the main dish. Rice, chicken and veggies for $6.99. Lots of food for the price. I got the steak and chicken and it was $11.99. The four of us had two appetizers, two Hibachi chicken and two Hibachi steak and chicken with everyone drinking sweet tea. Our total meal with tip was $60. People on here said it wasn't clean and we did not see that. We did see a little rice on the floor but he was doing some flipping and throwing of some rice in the show. Hopefully this will help out on your next lunch decision.More
We are from Savannah and always enjoy going to our local Japanese Steakhouse ....for the food and for the fun atmosphere. This place was dirty , the entire meal preparation only took 20 minutes and food was below average. Do not waste your money !
I have repeated my desires for dinner at this restaurant so many times, I cannot bring myself to write them in this review! I wanted a glass of water--impossible. I wanted dumplings--waitress literally ran off in mid sentence. I wanted hibachi for dinner--it was slammed...down in front of me and once again, she ran off. Never will go back--nasty place, inept employees, and mediocre food at best!More
I used to love this place however today I sat at a booth instead of the habchi grill and seriously only got 1/2 the portion of rice & vegetables. I spoke to the Asian waitress and she was rude & argued with me telling me...it was the same amount. Seriously when you set at the grill half of your plate is filled with rice & twice as many vegetables. Don't ever order the habachi if you're not setting at the grill.More
The food is a bit pricey so I recommend doing the hibachi show at lunch; it's cheaper. A con is that you have to wait to eat until about 6 people fill the table. They have combination meals and each meal comes with soup, salad,...rice, and vegetables. The steak is my favorite! They offer desserts too. The lunch price is about $15 a person. The chefs are amusing, but if you're just going for food and don't care about the show, go to Koji instead.More
Great sushi but you better go at lunch time because the price go double when you go at dinner. I was disappoint about that.
OK, the lunch price went up 26 cents - I'm good with that. BUT, don't you ever again bring cold food to my table! First and hopefully last time this will EVER happen! Soup and salad good as usual. We get the entrée (we eat...a booth and forgo the hibachi grill experience). Rice is lukewarm as is the chicken, but the veggies are just plain cold. We complain, which is rare and are given veggies that at least showing some steam, whether it be microwave or fresh off the grill. We let the chicken and rice temp slide. Keeping the cold veggies, we both have lunch for the next day. This is our go to place in Murfreesboro when attending church close by. Hopefully this won't happen again. First borderline bad experience ever...More
Sadly, Wasabi has gone from being one of our favorite restaurants to one that we probably won't visit again. I don't know if they have a new owner, or one that has just lost interest. The restaurant was dirty throughout...grimy looking carpet, sticky tabletops and...the ladies room was truly filthy. The food was okay but the service was seriously lacking. Sad. :-(More
Do NOT get sushi from this place! I tried it for the first time, and while their miso soup is wonderful, the sushi was noticeably old, soggy, stinky and unpresentable. I wouldn't even dare myself to eat it because I could tell that whatever they...made it with was bad. They can't afford to have a lack of care when it comes to sushi, somebody could get very very sick. I recommend instead that you go to Ninja Sushi in Smyrna. They have quality sushi that is always fresh. Better service too!More
