I come here on Wednesdays for locals night and I want to applaud our waiter Josh. He always knows what you want before you sit down. He is very attentive in what we need and makes suggestions on what is great to eat off the menu. I purposely come in early to get his table, because you know what kind.of service you are going to get. PS the food is also great!

Located right off the lobby of the Stanley Hotel the restaurant has a very nice ambiance. Most of the seating were high top tables which we're not overly comfortable, but okay. The food was excellent but you need to be prepared to spend A LOT of money....like $68 for a 22oz ribeye steak with no sides included. I was with a party of four...we got the cheese plate appetizer for the table, one alcoholic beverage (everybody else had water), two salads, four entrees, and an order of cornbread for the table and the bill was $348. Now the food was excellent but that's an extraordinary amount to spend. Additionally our main server was in training, which we did not know, and suffice it to say she needs more training. She promptly took the appetizer order and delivered the glass of wine but then never came back to take any more orders. After having to go talk to the manager she came back and asked if we wanted to order anything else...we hadn't even ordered anything but an appetizer. Then upon ordering our food she would forget to ask simple questions like "how do you want your steak cooked" and then assumed that one party who wanted to start off with a Caesar salad wanted that for their meal. She also forgot to put in for a side order for another party. Needless to say because of her inexperience we were there probably twice as long as we needed to be. Our trainer was very good and apologetic but I think the restaurant should have had her shadowing somebody somebody shadowing her because it was very apparent she was not ready to be by herself. Overall the food is excellent and if you don't mind dropping a lot of money then you could give the Cascades restaurant a try.

We decided to eat here after a "paranormal tour" at the Stanley Hotel. The menu looked good online, but was expensive. Estes Park seems to be expensive overall, but since this is a landmark hotel restaurant, we thought we would try it. We booked online and were early but were able to get a seat at the bar. The drinks were fine and not watery. We got a nice table where we could see everything. My husband ordered bison ribeye and after relooking at the prices, I ordered a cheeseburger as I was not that hungry and don't eat lamb, pork or elk. We split an $18 Cesar Salad that had 2 anchovies (good) but way too much dressing. The cheese burger was two very flat patties with American cheese. The bison ribeye looked okay but my husband didn't finish it, which is rare. The draft IPA beer we each ordered after a cocktail were $9 each. I'm sure the dining room had better days before the pandemic but this place was only so so and I would not return again. So glad we didn't stay at the Stanley Hotel because it was overrun with tourists (like us, yes), unkempt restrooms with no toilet paper or soap, and very high prices. We were very happy to go back to the Tahaara Lodge to privacy and a super intimate lodge feeling that was significantly less expensive than the Stanley. And their steakhouse, the Twin Owls, was far superior to Cascades and had great views.

Don’t go to Cascades for anything but the whiskey selection. Everything else was a horrible disappointment. We had a reservation for outdoor seating (COVID). We got cocktails and sat at the outside non-service area to wait. Every table was filthy and wobbled, spilling drinks. After a half hour the host told us our table wasn’t opening up and she’d like to put us on the front porch instead since we’d been waiting so long. As the view was better out front, this seemed like a good idea. But it clearly wasn’t made for food service. Drunk people were wandering by us constantly, they were vacuuming the entry rugs on the porch right by us while we ate, the service took a long time, and the host had to go between working at the host station and our table which was inefficient. The staff mostly had ill fitting masks that didn’t cover their noses. Worse, the executive chef always pulled her face covering down to talk to us, serve our food and pour our wine. She got very close to our faces to talk without a mask. Even though we were outside this was very disconcerting. We ordered a nice, $95 bottle of red wine for our meal and it was served in tiny, thick, white wine banquet glasses. We commented on it and the chef laughed saying she preferred the “big round ones too, you know what I’m saying” clearly making an inappropriate joke. About the food. The menu had no indications of dietary restrictions and I need gluten free. If a menu doesn’t list it, I often don’t trust that the info I’m getting is correct. So I got a peach and burrata salad to be safe. It was just okay. My husband and friend ordered a BBQ short rib grilled cheese - one with onions, one without. Both came out with onions. The chef came out and told us she was remaking them because they didn’t meet her standards. They came back out the same, and not hot. Still both with onions. Both commented that the sandwich was incredibly disappointing and in no way should have been $22. Another in our party got the tortellini Mac and cheese and notes it was most certainly frozen pasta while the sauce was decent. At $14 there were only about 6 tortellini in the dish. Long story short, go for the whiskey, skip the food.

We did NOT have a good experience at this restaurant. It began with us waiting 10 minutes before anyone even came to our table after we were seated. Then it took another 15-20 minutes for us to get our drinks. There were 5 of us, and one person’s pasta came out cold. The “truffle fries” that they serve with some meals were not truffle fries. There was not much of a difference between those and the regular ones. If you visit The Stanley Hotel, don’t plan on eating there.

We made a dinner reservation at Cascades Restaurant located on the property before taking the late hotel "ghost" tour and it was the most disorganized restaurant we've ever experienced. It was mass confusion and after waiting over an hour past our reservation time we didn't get to eat dinner before taking the tour so we had to order pizza after our tour that ended around 10:15pm. We did wait at the bar after waiting for our reservation that we kept getting told that a table would be available in the next 10 minutes but didn't happen so we ended up spending over $70 at the bar for 2 rounds of drinks so they made out pretty good on making guests wait for tables. Can't really comment on the taste of the food since we didn't get to eat there. The atmosphere is decent but it's an old historic looking restaurant but the bar is pretty neat. They offer some unique drinks but they are expensive.

We had a wonderful meal last year at Cascades Restaurant and looked forward to another one. I ordered the halibut and it was so tough you could barely cut it with a knife. I sent it back and the second serving was just as bad as the first. The server offered to have them make something else but I was over it so we paid for my wife's meal and left. Very disappointing. I doubt we will be going back.

Horrible food. My wife's $46 steak was over cooked, bland, poor quality meat and small. My burger was ok, but it was $24. Drinks from the bar were highly overpriced. My wife got a beer at the bar before we ate and the bartender didn't even open the car for her. When she opened it, it spewed out on the bar and the bartender did not even attempt to help clean it up. Waitress seldom came by to see if we needed anything.

So disappointed…we were celebrating our 10th anniversary in Estes Park and wanted a special dinner, so we chose Cascades at the Stanley Hotel. We secured a late dinner reservation, and arrived a half hour early. We were planning on having a cocktail at the bar while waiting, but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated within 5 minutes. We did order cocktails at our table, which were good but pricey (around $17 apiece). We ordered an heirloom burata tomato salad to share to start, which was tasty, but our entrees came out while we were still eating our salad. My husband ordered the steak medallions medium and substituted asparagus for broccoli. His steak was overdone, and they forgot the substitution. I ordered the local trout over risotto. The trout was good, but the risotto was undercooked and inedible. When our server returned, I did comment on the risotto, and she brought whipped potatoes for me, which was good. No refills on water until I asked, and then that was with the bill. Our server never asked if we wanted another drink either. When we were seated the hostess said ’happy anniversary’ but no other special touches. For a pricey dinner at a historic, famous hotel, this was a gross disappointement both in food and service. Tracy, it was obvious you just wanted to be done with work. My husband is a former server and bar manager and thus is forgiving and we never leave negative reviews, so know that you made a strong impression! We were in and out in under an hour also….and no comps for any blunders. Skip Cascades @ The Stanley. We loved Mamas Rose for Italian-great service and amazing food with attention to detail.

Hamburger has a gas taste to it, it actually tasted very bad. $30 hamburger without pickle and we had to wait for Mayo and mustered. They also took forever to get the food and not all meals arrived at the save time. 3 of us finished their food while 2 people waiting fir their food. Literally we had to hunt for a waiter to get anything. Overall very bad taste, service is extremely bad and they couldn’t set 8 people on one table.

My husband and I (thank god) stayed elsewhere so we can’t review a room but the customer service in their restaurant and their actual hotel was horrible. I understand with Covid there are restrictions and if you didn’t make a reservation you might have to wait a while, but we put Our names in and over an hour later they still didn’t tell us when we would be seated. They told us that it was an “assumption” when they told us 45 minutes. We waited and when we were going to bed hours later we still hadn’t received a text saying our table was ready. They were rude and snarky when we talked to them about the table. The next day we stopped by to try and give it another try because why not. We have had good experiences in the past but we were again horribly disappointed. The service was horrible and they didn’t have half the food on the menu and what they did have I wouldn’t feed my dog. We used to talk this place up to our friends but it isn’t worth the hype at all. It is completely overrated and I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time and money here.

Beautiful hotel. Went to dinner here on part of our anniversary trip. The service was very slow and inattentive. I ordered a drink off of the drink menu and the waitress and bartender said they “didn’t have that”. I had a dish with pasta, chicken, and mushrooms that was very good. My companion ordered the meatloaf and it was burned and dry. We enjoyed the experience of having dinner in the Stanley Hotel but I don’t think we will have dinner there again. Very overpriced and incompetent staff for the price and venue.

We had the pleasure of dining at Cascades. The service was absolutely phenomenal. Drinks were amazing!!! Great bourbon. The food is an absolute embarrassment. The Executive chef here should have been fired and shamed in the street. The burger was trash, the steaks were tough. We had some soup, which would have been tastier if it was poured out of a shoe table side. This hotel just keeps getting worse and worse.

My wife and I just got married in Estes on November 23rd. We brought our daughter and her boyfriend with us and as a special celebration we made reservations at the Cascades for Thanksgiving dinner. My wife and I have been coming to Estes for a few years and have even done a couple of the Stanley tours. We always wanted to eat at the restaurant but never really took the opportunity until now. We were quite excited! Our reservation was for 5 PM. We hoped this to be quite an experience, especially for $89 per plate! We arrived around 4:45 PM and the hostess told us they were a little behind and it would be about 20 minutes or so. I asked how will we know when you are seating and she said “we will probably form a line”! After an hour, our name was finally called! So much for a reservation! We got our salads almost immediately after sitting down… then we waited… and waited… we waited nearly another hour to get our meal! We were excited the food was finally here! The plates were hot, the food was warm to say the least. But, the desert was delicious! So, to say the least, we spent a lot of money on a not-so exciting Thanksgiving event. It was quite disappointing and unfortunately we will most likely spend our Thanksgiving dinner somewhere else next year.

We had lunch here on a busy Saturday after leaving Rocky Mountain National Park. Our waitress Amy was very attentive and friendly! While the food is somewhat pricey, we received a ton of food and everything was delicious! In addition, there is a large wine list and an extensive list of whiskeys and bourbons to try. We were very pleased with our experience here and enjoyed the opportunity to dine in such a unique and historic location!
