At first glance, this place does not appear to offer much with rather dimmed lights and a lack of any decor or atmosphere. They seem to be understaffed as well but the 2 people there that day went above and beyond to make our dining...experience comfortable. My partner and I ordered the grilled chicken and ribs and we must say that grilled meat were juicy and tender and absolutely delectable.More

We had an excellent meal in the Grill and Wok the Bankok seafood and the beef massamam were both to die for! We ate in four different establishments ( see other reviews) and this was far the best quality and cheapest food. The waiter was...very attentive and I would highly recommend you eat here! Not sure why some of the other reviews are negative as it was by far the best!!!More

This establishment is obviously being run on a shoe string as reflected in the extremely poor standard of food and lack of adequate staff to run the place. We ordered Sea Bass which simply wasnt Sea Bass but some other type of white fish with...a totally different texture. The BBQ that I ordered had one thing missing, MEAT!. I remain totally perplexed at what the chef thought I was going to eat when he served these up, the bones?. Thai green curry was just a version of an Indian curry. $130 for a complete waste of time and money. Be warned!.More

Visited this restaurant second time after queenstown trip, ordered lamb fillet and prawn fried rice, both were excellent. Can recommend for lamb for sure.

The reason for giving me a two star is because the staff was pathetic. In a hospitality industry, the prime aspect is to greet customers and treat them well. When we entered, we got a cold reception, disinterested staff. The owner of the restaurant must...take a note. No restaurants in New Zealand I noted such a behaviour. Your brand would get impacted and either you train them or replace them. Food was nice. However we enquired before ordering if one of the dish can have no hot spices as it was meant for our kid. We were told it can be done. However when food was served, it had red chilli flakes. When we called the staff and showed him the red chilli flakes, he asked us if ee tasted the dish and tgen had the audacity to ask that food preparation is stated in the menu. I reminded him of his acceptance to our request for mild spice and no hot spices. Why ask a stupid question later. He should have denied making any alteration and we would have not ordered. You run a restaurant with such non passionate stony faced person. God bless the restaurant. I must say that the dish was re made and served and food was tasty. But a big thumps down for the callous disinterested staff. Please avoid. There are far more friendly restauarants near by.More

Presumably the restaurant changed hands because its now called Asian Wok. The server said its a new restaurant. It's a barn of a place with very little atmosphere but we'd read the previous reviews so decided to give it a try. My partner ordered Singapore...Noodle Vegetables with Chicken Mine was Chicken Tikka Masala plus cheese naan. The food took a while to arrive: My partner's dish was a reasonable adult portion but luke warm and uninspiring. My portion of masala arrived and was tiny, a child's portion. The accompanying naan arrived 5 minutes later, and only after we chased it. When the naan arrives, I complained about the portion size (I don't think I've ever had cause to complain about portion size in 45 years of eating out). To my astonishment the server said that's how we do it! Then he asked had I eaten the dish in other restaurants (yes!) then he spoke to the chef and came back to say that's their standard portion. I said it was unacceptably small; he asked what I expected him to do about it. I said just bring another portion, He said he would charge for the second portion! At this point I said we would just walk out. "Without paying?" .. Yes. Eventually he sullenly agreed to provide a second portion. Honestly I wish I'd left. The second portion was greasy and horrible. All in all the worst gastronomic experience in a very long time. Don't waste your money. Incidentally, as we walked back to our hotel, we noticed all the other restaurants were either full or busy. The Grill and Wok was almost deserted by comparison. I wonder why that might be!More

Fantastic food and flavours. We had stir fried beef noodles and veg and also the chicken and cashew nut stir fry with chilli (& some steamed rice). The flavours of each dish were amazing, the meat as tender as anything and the portion sizes were...plentiful. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you are in Franz Jospeh. Go try as you won't regret i! Ps Staff are really lovely and friendly too and the prices are decent and not overly expensive.More

Had dinner here while travelling through Franz Josef. The restaurant is relatively new however food was great. Stuck with the Indian type dishes, which were very tasty. The naan was one of the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant also does more oriental type food...as well. Setting is slightly odd as it’s off the side of a gift shop and heli tour desk but that wasn’t an issue.More
