After our Photoshop at lake Matheson we arrived late, hoping we could still eat. We could and we were very happy we had the chance to eat at this location! What a great meal and good service! We stopped at the cafe having walked round Lake Matheson. At first I was disappointed as it was not overlooking the Lake as I had expected it to be. However, our light lunch was delicious and, having looked round town we decided to go back there the next evening for dinner. We were not disappointed. We had one of the... More

The Lake Matheson Cafe appears to have been upgraded since we last visited. It is a very smart cafe with excellent views of the Mount Cook range. It is well worth going out of your way to visit this cafe for the location alone.

Smart up market place, with modern fixtures and fittings...good clean toilets...Staff behind the counter a little terse and unfriendly, because she didn't understand what was being asked...Maybe she would have benefited from some interpersonal training and customer care...Food however was excellent, well presented and a good portion....Waitress service was efficient and friendly...

The food here is quite good, and the view is wonderful, we enjoyed stopping here for breakfast. The service was friendly and efficient, and clearly prided themselves on keeping the place clean and tidy despite the busloads of tourists traipsing in and out. Nice place to stop for a coffee after walking around the lake.

We came here because the receptionist at our motel recommended it. What a find. The food was fantastic and while it appears a little pricey when converted back to Aussie dollars, its actually cheap for the quality you get. The slow cooked lamb shoulder was divine. THE BEST MEAL I'VE HAD EATING OUT IN ABOUT THE LAST 15 YEARS. This... More

What a find, this restaurant/cafe knocks the socks off anything else we dined on the West Coast. We had two days in the area and returned for repeated breakfasts. Food was excellent and well presented, staff were on the ball, pleasant and friendly. The views were to die for ,it was a typical West Coast scene with the cattle on... More

We stumbled across the restaurant whilst staying in Fox Glacier and so glad we did. The food is absaloutley superb, the scenery is wonderful and the staff are great. We ate here both nights as the restuarants in Fox are very limited. I would highly recomend this restaurant it is 5 mins drive from Fox and looks out onto Lake... More
