It was a pleasant dinner with family. The foods were served within short period of time and they tested equally good. It was the best part of staying here. Unfortunately, oysters were not available at that day.

Our fourth high tea here. First three were memorable for the right reasons. This one for the wrong reasons. The pots of tea and the gentleman serve were faultles However the food was very substandard. White bread spread with a thick wodge of Pesto, so...much that green oil was oozing. Disgusting. Cold mushrooms atop a circle of white bread. Equally unpalatable. A cold vegetable fritter in bread. Just weird. Reheated soggy scones that were sticky and crumbly. Need I go on. This will be our last time partaking, but beware if you are considering this. The menu we chose suggested cucumber sandwiches, egg sandwiches, venison on whole meal. None of this was to appear. We left feeling ripped off and deflated.More

During our 3 night stay we were impressed by the level of food on offer. Although saying that it was apparent that somebody had miscalculated when ordering, as progressively items were not available.

Only juice available - orange. Meals are large and really nice food. Buffet breakfast was good. Staff are friendly.

Had a very enjoyable meal. The side pasta was delicious and the lamb shank and wine jus was lovely although a bit tricky eating from the bowl it was served in - maybe a bigger bowl would be more manageable. Hubby’s steak was good but...he felt he could have had more vegetables to go with the meal. Overall a very enjoyable evening.More

Well....although the staff were all very pleasant, the food and table presentation were more like you might expect at a working men's club minus the serving size. Not even a table cloth. The food was very disappointing. Might be something to do with the current...covid outbreak? Maybe the kitchen hand was in charge of the kitchen with head chef off sick??? I would not pay these prices again. Go to the pub down the road...also owned by Chateau but at least the prices are not as steep.More

As you’ll see from the other 3 star or worse reviews on here, food was incredibly overpriced and there was repeated issues with service. I often take my partner out fine dining in Auckland for special occasions and pay only a little bit more but...receive some of the best food I have ever had. Here the menu is a mix with no consistent theme and the food on the plate is fine but not anything I’d go out of my way to eat again. My partner as a lover of Indian food ordered a butter paneer curry for $30+. The serving size was small and while edible was surpassed by every butter paneer she’s ever had. I don’t actually remember what I had so it really was forgettable.More

We dined in this restaurant for two successive evenings as part of a two-night package deal. Friendly service and exquisite food, delightful twenties ambience. Our package included two courses from a very limited menu.: Three choices listed for starter, main course and dessert. Vegetarian options...included. Beware: we discovered that the mains did not include potatoes, rice, etc. unless specifically mentioned and any vegetables were just a tiny garnish. My large chicken breast came with one tiny cherry tomato and two thin strips of zucchini smaller than my little finger. The menu did not make this clear. We ordered a side dish of fries from the main menu - a big bowl of delicious crispy fries swiftly arrived at an additional cost of only $10. Everything freshly prepared to order; generous servings. The squid with nam jim salad starter was especially delicious, so was the creme brulee and the apple and plum crumble was to die for! A good cheese platter as well.More

Great staff both here and in the lobby. But the rules are strictly adhered to. House wine was not clear so redeeming a voucher only to be told it wasn’t valid for the drinks we ordered. Spatchcock one night was very dry. I didn’t complain...but she asked- and gave me a dessert or the house. Breakfast buffet style is a hard one. The mushroomS looked good but they were tasteless and watery. The bacon looked good but it was very porky - strange taste. Eggs were good. Coffee was terrible. I asked for a double shot decaf to be poured over ice in a small cup. She said “oh so you want an iced coffee?”sort of I said. So she gave me an instant coffee !!! Aaaaah!!! I like my coffee and paying extra for it means I do not want instant!!! Clearly the management don’t drink coffee as the staff member who helped me probably thought instant was fine! But I have to reiterate that the staff were really attentive and I should have gone back and said the coffee was terrible but we got it as a takeaway and we were on our way home before we realised what we had been given.More

I would say: tidy casual. I didn't see anyone turned away! Just wear what you would both normally wear when going out for dinner with friends at a mid-range restaurant. Most people had made some effort, i.e. a tidy shirt and... More
