Fisher House is Highbrook's heritage Bistro, Bar and Function establishment. Originally built by Sir Woolf Fisher, Fisher House has been tastefully refurbished to keep its proud Ra Ora Stud Homestead heritage. Wedding Dinner

We had a friends wedding dinner in one of the rooms here. It was really good that there was plenty of parking. The place was nicely decorated with lots of horses on the wall. Most of the food was served in a timely manner and it was generally tasty. The pasta serving my friend got was actually quite large. It was a nice venue for an event and the food was decent. I'm not sure of the costing though.

Hidden Gem

We visited for the High Tea, a very delightful setting in the bustling metropolis of Auckland. The High Tea was very enjoyable, teapot was big enough for about 4 cups. Visiting on the King's Birthday weekend we were offered a free upgrade to the Royal High Tea, which includes a flute of champagne! They also do a few other dining experiences including a Wedding venue. We shall return to try out. Well worth a visit, could be best to book ahead during busier periods,

Peaceful and Pleasant

We had an enjoyable late lunch. Stopped in about 1:30 pm, place was fairly full and had no reservation , but shown nice table on the veranda for two right away. Think if we were earlier we would have needed reservations. Carol had the Calamari entree and I a Lamb burger with a side of chips. A couple of non alcohol drinks, and we were ready for shopping again. At least one of us for shopping..... Very pleasant dining areas, inside and out, good food , great service and at a fair price. Try it.

Poor service I really can’t recommend

Booked for high tea and then after waiting for approx 40 minutes staff came and said sorry we don’t have any tea at the moment as they are busy???? She then asked us what she should do. Totally gob smacked! To save the family event we suggested we have something else to drink while we waited until we could have our high tea. Oh ok was the response. Eventually got our high tea which was pretty average. Honestly even the young male at the bar looked miserable so not sure what is going on with this place. Won’t go back and suggest management sort out basics like making sure you can cater to your bookings and maybe see if they are the reason staff are so miserable.

Stale food

We came with family for dinner - drinks were good. All our food apart from vegetarian burger was old and stale. Mushrooms given with burger were bitter though. Veges with salmon had no taste, salmon was hard, Thai curry had no taste. We did not say anything then as we were celebrating and did not want to ruin our night further. The staff was really friendly. I wonder if we were given stale food due to a party they had at the venue. Oh and fried chicken was stale too it tasted sour. I could not finish any of my food. Next morning everyone else in the morning has sore and lose tummy. So never again Fisher house and will not recommend it to anyone.

Hi There, I'm sorry your experience was not up to our high standard. I'm sorry that you didn't raise it with the manager on Duty at the time, so that we could have done something to rectify it then and there. It is surprising that you claimed the food to be stale, as we get regular daily deliveries so our food is always as fresh as it possibly can be. please feel free to contact us directly on 092711066 and ask for Mark, and we can look at doing something for you.

Amazing experience!

Amazing bottomless brunch and awesome service. We had a group booking to celebrate a birthday and everyone loved the food, the drinks, the hospitality and service. Would definitely recommend Fisher House for brunch and celebrating special events with family and friends :)

Customers are inconvenient

Well located for meetings though very run down. The female staff were pleasant though not very confident about what needed to happen. I was there for a couple of days for a meeting. I came into the place early morning to prep for the meeting and had a half consumed coffee with them. The owner yelled at me - you can't bring that in here - drink it outside. I asked why and he said we sell coffee would you take mcdonalds to a burger king. Then I noticed all the 'you can't notices' written places. Our meeting room had a door to the courtyard but an outside speaker right outside the room with loud music playing. When I asked them to turn it down they did for 5 minutes then turned it up again. I certainly would not recommend this place. The whole service experience made us feel like an inconvenience.

Over cooked meals and unhelpful staff

This morning 10/4/2024 I had a group of 10 people go to Fisher house for breakfast. Some feedback: All the eggs were over cooked. A hair was found in one breakfast. I waited 5 minutes at the counter to pay the bill and finally had to go to the kitchen to get someone to come and sort out the payment with me. Staff were not friendly, did not ask for feedback or how our meal was, no interaction when paying the bill. Highly disappointed and my team and Australian visitors did relay their disappointment with their breakfast.

Disappointing Service

We were greeted by a lovely girl and another lovely girl who took our drinks & food order and that is where the service ended, we were not approached again to get a reorder for drinks, we twice had to approach the bar to get more drinks, we were never offered the desert menu so didn't bother. There was only a couple of people at another table when we left, we asked the girl behind the bar if she would mind taking a photo of us by the Christmas Tree as there was no one else around requiring service, she pulled a face and said she was too busy at that moment, so we just left. Food was ok.

Worst customer service experience ever - and from the owner

A very disappointing Mother’s Day brunch today with my family. Service from the owner was terrible from the moment we walked in. We were late, which we acknowledged, but no excuse for the customer service that followed. Not a single smile - just a cold “this way”. The servers were perfectly fine - polite, smiled and got our meals quickly. When we went to pay the owner said “I don’t have time to split the bill”. We hadn’t been given any prior warning of this when we booked and when we told him this he made up an excuse about not being the one to take the booking and that it was standard for group bookings. Standard or not - there was no excuse for the tone (can’t be bothered, bored) or delivery (rude, unapologetic). A simple acknowledgement and apology would have made all the difference but instead we were made to feel like it was our fault. He was so rude that we vowed never to return and his response was “and we’ll be glad not to have you”. I have never ever been made to feel this way by a restaurant and certainly not the owner. I will never return to this place and would recommend to anyone reading this to do the same. Go spend your hard earned money somewhere where you will be made to feel welcome, not here!!

Disappointing High Tea

Got the high tea for Mother’s Day and was very disappointed sandwiches bland only 1 mini savoury and all the mini cakes were store bought no slices only cream puffs, mini eclairs and macaroons all you can buy at pak n save in the frozen dept😣

Great advertising, poor delivery

Lack of anyone to greet us on arrival. Food in large proportions but not very tasty. One guest unable to get an entree because they had run out. Fish dry and overcooked. Main meal. Steak, well cooked but vegetables cold, (as was the plate,}sent back , offered to reheat asked for new food but still the vegetables were hardly luke warm. will not be returning.

Truely awful

FROM BAD TO WORSE

I definitely do NOT recommend going here. Overpriced for substandard food. I was with a small group and between us spent some $$$ here . Pork belly bites - not. Not bite sized, very over cooked and dry - not appealing and the coleslaw on the side - very dry. I ordered Chicken Kiev - you would think the chicken would have garlic butter enclosed and crumbed - nope some mashed spud underneath with a couple of baby carrots and 2 small pieces of brocolli. Mostly chicken was soft but the end was so tough I could not eat. My colleagues had the salmon and said it was the worst she had ever tased. The garlic pizza bread was very doughy and was it supposed to be garlic??? could't taste it. Come on guys when you pay this much for a meal you seriously need to up your game or change your Chef. I definitely would not recommend and definitely will not be back
