Very friendly and happy to help despite being a little late due to the rain! Delicious starters and eye fillet cooked beautifully! It was my second time here and definitely not my last! Thank you

Went last night and my wife and I had an excellent meal---calamari, duck, lemon meringue. Others at our table were disappointed that their steak was tough, and raised that politely with the host who cleared the plates. His response was fantastic---apology, new supplier, returned from kitchen...with view from chef who agreed. He gave those affected $10 off their meal and a voucher for everyone for a free coffee at the village cafe today. Then he even gave a lift back to the campground to 4 of the party. I thought it seriously impressive PR. Well done! And my meal was lovely anyway!More
Quiet night in Hahei, we decided to check out the more upscale restaurant in town. Absolutely not disappointed- the food here was great! The duck was the special, pefectly rendered crispy skin moist delicious. Great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommended
We were super lucky that they were reopening from being closed after winter break. Set in a lovingly restored old church moved to Hahei, they also offer additional accommodation at chalets behind the restaurant. They reopened the Friday with a Asian degustation evening, set menu,...set price. Wow wow wow!! So impressive! Every mouthful & course were delicious, ingredients so fresh & things I hadn’t tried before. The chef knows how to serve at perfection! The seafood was the best I had tasted, I am very fussy with prawns, mussels & salmon..but each one a mouthful of beauty. We loved it & will come again, just to enjoy this pocket of loveliness. Outstanding staff, food, great value too.More
Highly recommend, Asian Degustation menu was fresh and full of flavour plentiful, craft beer and nice wines service was worth leaving them a good tip.
We ate here many years ago during a short stay in town and as we headed back from a day at the beach we decided to take a chance of revisiting without a reservation. It was early evening and we were in luck as we...got one of the few parking places and were advised that provided we could free up the table by a time which was easily doable we were good to go. We sat outside to enjoy the last of the sunshine. The menu wasn't large however we had enough options and both chose the Fish of the Day with scallop bisque, macadamia crumb, snow peas, baby carrots & lemon foam ($39). We shared a side salad and some fries ($8 each). For drinks my wife had a glass of the matching Catalina Sounds Pinot Gris ($13) and as nominated driver I had a Ginger Beer ($6). Whilst we waited for our order the owner engaged us in some friendly chat and it transpires that he had visited Scotland in the past - a man of good taste! We received a very nice amuse bouche and then the mains followed in due course. The fish was delicate and nicely cooked, the scallop perfection in a shell with the bisque, the vegetables crisp, the salad nicely dressed and fries crisp and tasty. All in all delicious. I even quite liked the ginger beer although the Pinot Gris would have been preferable! For dessert we again chose the same dish - Passionfruit Bomb ($15) which consisted of passionfruit icecream encased in dark chocolate. It too was a success. It was a time in the year where there were flies around and these could be a nuisance at times however they seemed a bit too numerous in the toilet and perhaps measures were required to tackle them there. It was the only fly in the ointment so to speak on what was an otherwise top notch experience. It is not always advisable to return to a place with good memories, just in case it doesn't live up to that memory, however The Church on this occasion was even better than our previous visit and we'll still be singing its praises. Our bill for a 2 course meal for 2 people, with a drink was $147/£72 (including the 2.6% charge for paying by credit card) which we considered very good value for money. We visited in March 2020 prior to the Covid-19 lockdown.More
The church is a lovely setting, of course. But it will be remembered because of it‘s delicious food! Be it steak, fish, beef cheeks as a main, the starters and mains are inspired by European and Asian styles and flavours. Winelist and beers offer good...choices. Service is attentive and warm. And, don‘t forget: not many options on Hahei to have dinner, so booking is essential.More
We had a fabulous lunch here, good honest food beautifully prepared, pleasingly presented , aservice with humour topped off with a fair price! Furthermore I left my hat there and they went well out of their way to send it to me in the U.K.!!!...And they wouldn’t let me pay postage !! Top place , top peeps!! Thank you!!More
This must certainly be the best restaurant in Hahei. A great menu, wonderful service, places to eat inside or outside in the conservatory area.
We had an intimate wedding on the beach with our kids and grandkids, and then had dinner at The Church Bistro... wow! We had the most incredible entree platters between 16 of us, and then everyone had a main and dessert. My steak was the...most amazing steak I've EVER had, and the mango sorbet wrapped with peppered salmon entree was everyone's favourite. The chocolate terrine and the passionfruit bomb that my husband and I shared, was absolutely divine! Mark and his staff and chef were so accommodating, and all our guests raved about their amazing food.More
