My wife and I live in Concord and had lunch at the Colonial Inn on a weekday. Overall, our experience was fair. We felt the hostess was not particularly welcoming and despite the fact that we had reservations with few diners present upon arrival, we were offered one undesirable seating option in a heavily trafficked area. When we asked for another seat, the hostess appeared miffed and left to return to her station while our waitress found us a new seat that we suggested. On the other hand, our waitress was good. The food was good but not outstanding and rather expensive as compared to other local restaurants. Tourists and loyal locals will probably enjoy dining in the old hotel restaurant but we will not return given so many other excellent alternatives in Concord.

I used the Colonial Inn’s online booking service, open table, to make dinner reservations at the Colonial Inn’s main dinning room Merchants Row. This was done three weeks in advance for my mother’s birthday. Open table later sent me an email asking me to confirm the original reservation which I did. In addition, I called the Colonial Inn to confirm and discovered that our reservation was not in the main dining room but instead in the Thoreau room since there was an event in the main dining room. I am disappointed that the Colonial Inn books for one room and then moves you to another. My advise when booking is to call, speak to someone, and specify your intentions. Our meal, service and atmosphere in the Thoreau room was fine but it was not in Merchants Row as reserved.

We arrived July 15, 2021 at about 7 PM to check in to our room here. We were very hungry and wanted dinner. They said the restaurant closes at 8 PM (rather early I thought), so we had to rush getting our luggage to the room and hurried back out to get a table. Was not a problem, as we were seated right away in what the hostess called the "garden patio". We were seated at the far end of the patio right in front of the steps that led to the side entrance to the Inn. Anyone coming or going to that door had to side step around us to get where they were going. Even our server, Jasmine had to detour around to reach us on the open side. Seemed an odd place for a table. My wife and I each ordered a glass of Malbec wine, a bit above average price at $11/glass. My wife ordered the Mozzarella/Basil Ravioli. I ordered the Yankee Pot Roast. Rather ordinary presentations and flavors for a $22 price each. Jasmine was very nice to us and provided great service, but we were constantly irritated by buzzing insects around us. One even landed in my wife's glass of wine. She fished it out with a spoon. So I have to call this just an average dining experience.

The Colonial Inn is a well recognized place to eat. We were thankful to have experienced it. We were met by a staff member and asked for our name and telephone number in case they needed to do Covid tracking, which kind of set the tone. We were then seated and taken care of by Melissa, who was very attentive to our needs. We found the atmosphere to be a bit sparse, but again, this may be due to the situation with Covid, as table are well separated from each other. We both ordered a cup of clam chowder which was good, and the Chef's specialty sandwich, El Loco Pollo. Although everything was good, we certainly felt it was a bit high-priced for what we got. Something to experience while on vacation, but maybe not a place to visit on a regular basis. Still, Melissa was a great server and we appreciated that opportunity to get a tasty meal and enjoy one of Concord's well known places. My only other complaint was not being able to use gift cards and had to pay with cash.

Very enjoyable early spring Saturday afternoon lunch. Lovely baked haddock, perfectly fresh and seasoned, topped lightly with a top notch beurre blanc, with nicely prepared fresh squash and asparagus. The only downside was it was quite pricy for lunch, and was not offered the bread basket. Shout out to Travis the bartender where we enjoyed lunch, very good service. Not a price point I can enjoy very often, but for my next splurge lunch, definately in. Such a cool, old building.

If you're in the market for the perfect burger, look no further! Although known for its charm and evening music, the Tavern Room at Concord's Colonia Inn is the place for a perfect burger, lunch, dinner or whenever. I particularly love the black and blue burger - blue cheese and very crisp bacon on top of the perfectly-cooked large piece of beef. It's served with nice crisp fries to boot. Savor the colonial atmosphere and enjoy the menu at the same time!

Brought a friend who was visiting from out of town for lunch. I made reservations. But was shown to the wrong dining room and when I objected, I was told the room I had wanted and reserved on line was taken by a small event group. First disappointment. The second disappointment was the food - butternut soup was bland and the Brussel sprouts were also boring. They came with a sauce that tasted like mayo and the garlic on the sprouts was hardly detectable. Third disappointment was the room itself. Not at all like a colonial inn, devoid of character and VERY LOUD. My friend and I gave up on having a conversation - got tired of yelling. Really bad experience despite my attempt to give her the "New England" feel.

What can I say? Absolutely one of my most favorite places to stay of all time. Room 4 overlooked Monument Square and provided a stunning view of the iconic New England Common that has to be seen to be appreciated. The Colonial Inn Restaurant on the first floor had an amazing menu with reasonable prices, a very attentive waitstaff and the food was so delicious. I’d would certainly recommend the New England chowder and my partner loved her Jambalaya. Ernie from Albany Jean from Keene.

This is our go to restaurant when entertaining guests from out of town because the outdoor seating is so lovely on Monument Square and we can consistently receive a decent meal. Last night we were disappointed the food wasn’t very good. Our favorite appetizer, Brussels sprouts, were dry and over cooked. The hamburger and fries I ordered were also over cooked. The salmon we ordered was just okay. However the drinks were as good as usual and Noah our server was attentive.

First of all, parking is a challenge. We drove around for about 15 minutes before we found on-street parking about 3 blocks away from the restaurant. When we arrived for lunch, the restaurant was slammed. The hostess was great and staged us for a while at the bar until a table became available. Food and service were average. I had the chicken sandwich and it was good. My partner had the turkey sandwich and it was rather dry and the bread was hard. The salads had dressing that barely had any taste. The acoustics in the room were awful and it sounded like everyone was shouting to be heard. Prices were average. I was not overly impressed.

It is not very often that you can combine good eating with history. This place has both. I miss the history being written on the menu. No idea why they no longer do this. Parking is as always an issue. I am so happy we brought a small car as we got the last spot and it was very very tight. It was confusing on where the entrance was. After we found it, we were told there was a 90 minute wait for outside seating. So we sat inside. While I know the place is historic and old it really could use some TLC. We were waited on right away by a very nice and attentive server. The menu was not very extensive but it was ok. Everything we order came quick enough and was just so good and a little pricey. We really enjoyed our visit. We’ll be back.

We loved staying at the Colonial Inn with our room overlooking Monument Square and dining in the Village Forge Tavern along with breakfasts in Merchants Row. Being built in 1716 with multiple additions over the years, it was nice just wondering the various rooms and hallways on the way to these nice restaurants. Breakfast was so good and reasonable that 1st morning, we came back the next 2 mornings. The dining area was decorated nicely for Christmas, and we tried quite a few of their offerings. We didn't get to Liberty but ended up eating all 3 nights at the Village Forge Tavern that has an atmosphere 2nd to none. The Christmas decorations were outstanding giving the place a real festive feel on top of the history and to imagine that this was a storeroom for supplies during the Revolutionary War. The food and service was exceptional and the only negative was that they closed at 9 on Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 on Sunday evening.

Great Waiter in the room with the bar. (Don't remember the name of the room). He was the only waiter and he served everyone meals on time. Food was Delicious and was Hot when we received it. We had the Chicken Pot Pie; it was loaded with vegetables and chicken. It came with Mashed Potatoes and Fresh String Beans. Would definitely go back.

Arrived to find out my lunch reservation had been given to another party. Hostess said the other party lied and claimed it. My party of 4 was seated in Merchants Row which wasn’t in the same colonial style as Liberty-Merchants Row was very “institutional” rather than the colonial decor of the rest of the inn. We requested to be moved to Liberty and waited to be seated only to be completely ignored at our table for 20 minutes. No greeting, no water, no menus, no service. Another couple sitting near our table had been waiting 20 minutes to order after only receiving table water. They seemed local because they recommended local restaurants because “the good wasn’t worth waiting any longer for”. The Colonial Inn and Liberty restaurant have charming curb appeal but our experience was a huge disappointment. Helen’s had good food (fish & chips, pastrami sandwich, and clam chowder) at better prices and way better service.

We were first told our wait was going to be at least 30 minutes and it was barely 5 so we loved that. They had a Buffett brunch (I think because it was Sunday) and we all decided to do the Buffett brunch. It was fantastic. The food was amazing and very fresh. The prime rib was delicious, and the waffles that were made fresh at the Buffett table were served with a homemade whip cream and fresh berry sauce. Everything tasted amazing. I also don't ever get claim chowder because if it's not creamy enough or fresh enough I don't care for it but I got a little to try and again, it was amazing. I'm so glad it's only a 30 minute drive for us! We will be going back for sure!!! Wonderful experience and the little town of Concord is so cute.
