Walked in on Sunday evening for dinner about 5:30pm. Greeted and seated quickly by friendly hostess. Only 5-6 tables occupied and two wait staff on duty. Waitress stopped by and said would be with us in a minute, and she returned. One of our party asked about not having ingredients in Rizotto, several trips to kitchen to confirm "it comes with it". Ordered and food came out quickly. Good Clam Chowder! Main course of Scallops and Fish & Chips..both very good - well done Chef !!
The service was not good. Had to ask for water several times. Both Wait staff wern't in dining room for long periods of time...un-acceptable. Good food suffers when service isn't up to same standards. Train & supervise your staff...please!

I'm elated to be back at brunch for my favorite place for Sunday brunch, Merchants Row. Service is always courteous and the dishes always taste consistently the same as the first time I ordered them. Friendly place, family place, best brunch.

We loved staying at the Colonial Inn (c.1716) and wandering the rooms and hallways from its multiple additions on the way to Merchants Row for breakfast. Our breakfast was so good and reasonably priced that we came back the next morning. We tried a good bit of their menu loving the French Toast and the 3 egg omelet that were both huge portions. The sausage and the bacon were cooked perfectly, and the crispy potatoes became a new favorite, never having them cooked like that before. My wife had the steel cut oats with fruit and cream, but they were a touch runny. We also had the All American, a 2 egg, sausage, bacon, crispy potato dish that was great and came with 2 slices of toast. The service was fine, portions large and the room was nicely decorated for Christmas. Great breakfast spot.

I've been here in the past, and brought guests expecting the same. Our service was extremely slow, despite being among the first there. Getting the server's attention when items were missing almost impossible; a salmon burger with gourmet sauce was served with ketchup on the side. The chef's vision of a Boston cream pie was some sort of a sundae bearing no resemblance to the real thing, and should have been returned.
I assure you: worst $90 lunch ever.

The food was plentiful but bland. Our main courses were served before our appetizers were even cleared away. We were charged incorrectly for our wine - it turns out they had two different wine lists, with different prices. Will not return

We had Sunday brunch at Merchants Row inside the Colonial Inn. The location was historical and interesting and food was ok but pretty generic. The buffet choices were nothing special. We arrived at 12:30 and by 1:00 it seemed like the staff was beginning to pack things up. The roast beef was decent but we only had butter type knives at the table so eating the thick slices they served. Overall an ok experience, but we had hoped for something a bit more special and more local. Next time we’ll go with the regular menu and try the pot pie or pot roast.

Absolutely delicious! Excellent meal and perfect service. Good parking in the back. Charming old inn where the decor felt historic. Very popular place judging by the full tables

What a great lunch! We would have never known about this restaurant. It's a hidden gem inside the Colonial Inn which is across from Monument Square. It came highly recommended by Svenja, our tour guide. She knew exactly where to take us.
As I mentioned before, the restaurant is in the historic Colonial Inn that dates back to 1716. Henry David Thoreau lived there while he was going to Harvard. Also, one of the buildings was used to store arms and provisions during the Revolutionary War. I didn't know it at the time but this inn is also known for ghost sightings (Room 24 to be exact). I didn't see any during this visit. Just had to mention that.
Everything was good. The service, atmosphere, food, and the company. It all started with the fresh rolls and corn bread. So very good. There was something for everyone on the menu. I was going to get the lobster roll but then I saw the chicken pot pie. It was calling my name. What a great decision! It arrived to the table piping hot. The crust overflowed the dish and was nice and flaky. The chicken, sauce, carrots, and peas blended well with the crust. It was so comforting! It came with mashed red bliss potatoes, garlic green beans, and a cranberry relish. All of which was delicious. My husband also enjoyed it very much. I also saw that they have Yankee Pot Roast. That would have been my second choice. My mother had the clam chowder. She said it was very good. All of it was very memorable. I'm still thinking of that pie as I'm writing this review. I totally recommend visiting this place if you happen to be in Concord.

My wife, mother-in-law, and I were in New England for a vacation, and our private tour guide (Sven, of Boston Private Tours, on an American Revolutionary War Tour through Boston, Lexington, Concorde, and Cambridge...recommended this place. Sven was excellent and so her recommendation to come here was well enough for me. We'd just had seafood the night before at a historic restaurant in Boston, so some of us could use a break. So my wife and I had what was a supurb chicken pot pie...fresh made with a nice delicate and flakey crust and very filling. It also came with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Mom had a hearty bowl of clam chowder, which she, at 92 years old ate all of. They served some nice rolls and cornbread, which rounded out the meal very well. My tour guide had a salad with chicken, so it shows that there is something for everyone at any given time. The prices were moderate, which is what we wanted...four of us had lunch and coffee (as desired) for about $160 including 20% gratuity. The service was good and overall, it was a novel and great place to see given the colonial themed tour of the day. Many thanks to the staff for a great lunch!

Great atmosphere in a 300 year old active inn. Enjoyed the experience. Food was good but service a little slow. Next time I think will eat in the Pub which has same food but even better atmosphere.

We had cod as it should be Milady had crab stuffed baked cod, while mine was fish and chips. Ample servings cooked to perfection; which were prepared with the very best the North Atlantic has to offer. Indian pudding foe desert.

The food is hearty -- routinely enjoy the chicken pot pie, lobster rolls, yankee pot roast and the burger. The Indian pudding is a must have dessert. Service is consistently pleasant and friendly. They also have great salads.

The restaurant offers some delicious breakfast items which were all 'home runs' in my book. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the dinner entrees. I tried the lobster roll which was quite nice but wasn't as impressed by the NY Strip which was slightly on the bland side. Finally, the steak salad is to be avoided at all costs !! It is drenched in Ranch Dressing which I don't care for to begin with and their vinaigrette and blue cheese dressings are equally strange in taste. I will say their clam chowder is quite nice and their which wines are lovely as well. But please avoid their most expensive Cabernet by the glass (from Alexander Valley Winery in California). That was quite disappointing in taste given the price. Overall, it's a fair restaurant with expensive prices.
