About
This is a popular local spot perfect for tourists, too (Concord is a big tourist town). Looks and feels like a hip diner, but the food, esp breakfast, is anything but.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s not what it used to be. We lived here over a decade ago and the place would not only be packed but they would usually be a line out the door waiting for folks to finish up. This time around, the server seem to be doing us a favor by serving us and the food has gone downhill. It’s not a place I would return As there are better options.

Stopped by for breakfast on a Friday morning - I had the Tuscan Omelette and my wife had the Fancy sandwich. The Omelette was thin (3 eggs) and had plenty of fillings. We arrived by 8:15am (they open at 8am) and we were greeted by one of the waitresses after 15 or so seconds. Like must restaurants, they are short staffed (only had 4 staff working it seemed). After placing our order, the food arrived very quickly. The dining room filled up by 8:30 and both of the waitresses each had to cover half, so the service was a bit slower, but still adequate.
If we're back in town, we'd definitely eat here again.

My wife and I visited for breakfast on a very busy Saturday morning and luckily, we didn't have to wait on line. Shortly afterwards, the line was out the door. The welcome was not the warmest and kind of chilly.
My wife ordered the California omelet which was a special. The omelet contained avocado, bacon, and cheese. She also ordered a side fruit salad. I ordered the All American Breakfast which consisted of two eggs (scrambled), roasted potatoes, sausage, toast, and coffee. We both enjoyed our meals and the portions were generous. My roasted potatoes were crisp and not greasy. The sausage consisted of three very tasty links. No decaf coffee was available so I settled for a cup of tea. The fruit salad was fresh.
The prices were acceptable considering the location. Our service was very good but not friendly. There was street parking and a parking lot in the area.

Found this place to be loud, crowded, and not so friendly waitress. Can't understand the 5-star reviews. Sent my grandson's "pizza" back...it was a burrito with cheese and sauce, blah, and was not asked if we wanted anything else for him. As a matter of fact, waitress said "You've got to be kidding me"...wth???

We stopped here for lunch yesterday. This is a typical diner in downtown Concord. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean. I was craving pancakes so I got the blueberry pancakes. The pancakes came in a stack of four and they were the largest pancakes I have ever had. There were fresh blueberries in the pancakes and quality maple syrup. My wife ordered the BLT and the sandwich was huge. Overall a good place to stop for some good food.

One of best breakfasts we had on our 14 day road trip through New England. We had breakfast here both days in Concord it was that good. Large portions cooked to order served by smiling attentive staff and extra delicious to boot. Priced right as well. Definitely a winning equation.

We visited for lunch on Saturday, August 27, 2022. We grabbed a table right away (no line).
I had the kale caesar salad with grilled chicken; husband had a special--pastrami and corned beef sandwich. We shared an order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. Service was prompt, friendly, and competent. It was air conditioned inside. There are booths along one wall, then a bunch of mostly two-seater tables.
Main St has a bunch of metered parking (pretty much every spot was taken), but we chose to park in a free lot just off Main St (follow the white and green P sign) and walk up a couple blocks.

We were staying at the Colonial Inn on Monument Square, and strangely enough...they do not have breakfast available. So.. we go to old downtown Concord seeking breakfast. It seems there are 3 breakfast place options here. We scoped them all out, and Helen's looked the best of the 3. Once we were served and eating, we knew this was the right choice.
The coffee here is really wonderful. Very Fresh - Great robust flavor.
My wife ordered the Fancy -breakfast sandwich, scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, cheddar cheese, avocado on a brioche bun. Great again!
Since I am a Corned Beef Hash aficionado, when it is on the menu... I order it. It was not that special (simply from a can), but it was cooked just right, as were the home fries and the poached eggs.
This is a great place, with cozy ambiance, friendly and efficient servers and that out of this world coffee.

Sat down after a long day, and were greeted immediately with a welcome and a "may I bring you something to drink?" (They don't serve beer or wine.) The menu is extensive in the American diner realm. My friends loved their coleslaw, especially, and were so satisfied with the servings, they declined dessert. In a moment of inspiration, I thought of apple pie with a bit of ice cream on the side, thinking I would either gloat, or share a little... the short story: it was so good, I had to most of it, and all three of us declared it the best pie ever. Don't miss it.

Cheerful ambiance and a welcoming staff make this restaurant feel as comfortable and bright as grandma’s kitchen. You can sit at any open table you want while enjoying classic 80s hits! The service and kitchen staff are highly accommodating and strive to satisfy customer preferences. They offer a wide variety of delicious dishes. Much more pleasant than nearby Main Streets Market and Cafe!

We arrived at 11:00 hoping for breakfast, but they'd just stopped serving it. Helen, our server, kindly pointed out an egg sandwich on the menu, but I went with a cheese quesadilla which was divine. Generous cheese and the tortilla perfectly cooked. Helen was wonderful - efficient, friendly, and generous with tips about places to go as well as stories about history and local lore.

This restaurant was packed on a Thursday with lots of locals and a friendly vibe. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The tuna salad sandwich and fried chicken on brioche with sweet potato fries were fabulous! Service was great. What’s not to like? Perfect for lunch!

Based on the good reviews we ate there 2 days ago. I had Mac and cheese with grilled hot dog. Mac and cheese first came out still cold, after reheated, nothing special. Husband had meatloaf, just ok. Tea and lemonade were $3.99.

First morning in Concord and took short walk before breakfast. Came across Helen’s and very happy we did. Friendly staff, very clean and we were seated immediately around 8 AM. coffe excellent and the menu had great selections for breakfast. My wife had a very large yogurt parfait. Large amount and those of fruit. She enjoyed it. I had the bagel, scrambled egg, hand breakfast sandwich. Bagel fresh and eggs were creamy not over cooked. Lots of fried ham was included. Rec you try if in area.

Ive been going to Helen's for years. Family owned, friendly service, comfortable seating, great food with some creative dishes along with the usual cafe comfort fare. Never had a bad meal at Helen's . Everybody seems to know everybody there. How do you beat that?
