Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The atmosphere of this little cafe is wonderful and welcoming. The place just had a warmth about it. But the best part is the food! Two of us had “The Bird” sandwich and would order it again in a heartbeat. Every sandwich was amazing! We...tried the lavender lemonade…. Also wonderful. The syrup was made in house, and I’ve never had a better glass of lemonade. Prices were fair and there were a lot of comfortable outdoor tables. Indoor seating is more limited, but there were enough indoor seats if needed. We chose to sit outside at a shaded table. Overall a lovely experience, and we will definitely return whenever we are in the area.More

This is the cutest cafe and luckily was open when we were visiting and planned accordingly as this time of year ( April) operating hours are different. Summer hours are different and are open daily I believe. The inviting property is charming and the inside...is cozy and the music choice playing was spot on. Thank you. You order your food and a number is given to you and lots of choice seating indoors and out, weather permitting. I had the lavender lemonade made in house. D E L I S H and refreshing. There was a lavender honey latte and could not decide. Breakfast sandwich and avacado toast was perfect. A perfect place to start the day or stop in for lunch.More

Really excellent place. Lovely staff and fantastic food. Go for the burger. A very poignant / touching back story to the place too. Bittersweet.

This was a pleasant experience and an absolutely wonderful vibe felt when entering this place. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner at the register about her late son and the amazing thing was that there was a line behind us and the...place was packed but, she took the time to share wonderful encouraging words with myself and lady friend!! I held her hand and truly felt her pain and strength!! It was more than a dining experience for me!! Definitely will return!!More

I would have rated this place 5 stars except for the fact that there is little inside seating and it was a cold rainy day and the chairs outside are metal and were very cold to sit on. The patio is lovely but I suggest...you invest in space heaters to keep your customers comfortable. The food was excellent. Bob the cat, kept us entertained as he glared at us not so subtly begging for a handout.More

We stopped at the Bittersweet Cafe after spending the day in Ohiopyle. This place was spectacular! Beautifully decorated for fall with pumpkins and fresh flowers and amazing flower baskets hanging from the ceiling. One of the most charming places I've ever seen. The food was...absolutely delicious and the service was great! I cannot say enough good things about this Cafe and cannot wait to go back again!More

My sister and I stayed at the Nemacolin Resort but didn't care for the food there. We asked some locals for advice and several recommended Bittersweet. We loved the food! It's fresh and there are options for veggie, vegan and gluten free. Turkey sandwich was...yummy, cookies appeared to be homemade and were great and even the grilled cheese was superb. The place is small and was decorated for the fall season. It was extremely clean and staff was pleasant. There is an adorable cat (Bob) who wanders around outside and he was polite and sweet. He wanted a bite of turkey but wasn't aggressive about it. We ended up having three meals at Bittersweet and would have had more but they were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.More

We stopped by for a late lunch and were not disappointed! The food was fresh and prepared quickly (it wasn't very busy on a weekday at 3 pm.) The pulled pork sandwich was excellent and the salad with candied pecans was also delicious. It is...worth the short drive from Ohiopyle (food desert) to Bittersweet to get a nice meal.More

Peaceful, relaxing, and good vibes. Great service! A young boy brought our food to us. Special thanks to his great service and personal touch of awesomeness! When you walk out of church on Sunday sometimes we forget our lord and all his blessings. It was...enchanting to be part of something greater going on here. Lastly, the food was amazing and would stand out without all the extra touches!More

It was a delightful place. We were in the area visiting Ohiopyle state park. Wasn't hitting it very well as all the eating places were closed. Found this place. We decided to stop by to get a smoothie. Two of us ordered strawberry banana smoothies and asked for less sugar as well as almond milk instead of cream. The smoothies were $11.92 a piece for an average sized cup. We were told we could...wait near the counter while they were being made and were charged $2.25 extra (included in the price) for the almond milk. As we watched, the first one was made with the normal amount of sugar, which we pointed out. The staff dumped it out, and proceeded to remake the smoothie, which took over 15 minutes! The next one we witnessed them using cream instead of the requested almond milk! Again, they dumped out the entire thing and remade it, taking another 15 minutes! No apology from any staff for the wait or the mistake, although the owner told us “ not to feel bad since we paid extra for almond milk” and said “I’m sorry” The whole experience was a fiasco, disorganized, over priced, totally poor service and staff with no regard for us as customers. I will never go back there, very disappointedMore

A must-go place if you’re staying at Nemacolin or going to the local attractions like Ohiopyle or Fallingwater. All made from scratch and delicious. Prices are what you’d expect in a larger city but portions are generous and so tasty! The crème brûlée is ah-mazing….....Absolutely check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!More

I rarely give 5 stars, but this is a worthwhile 4 stars. Our food was first rate. My wife has wanted to stop there for years. Best part there were several friendly dogs there. A bit expensive but the food at Ohiopyle isn't much less,...and not as good. Peaceful, surrounded by woods, yes we will come again.More
