About
Piccola Cucina Osteria it's our gem in the heart of SoHo. The Chef and owner Philip Guardione opened in January 2013 to bring in the city the real taste of Sicily. Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy, which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant. Fully renovated in 2021 the location looks warm and cozy. Our other two Piccola Cucina locations in Manhattan are:Piccola Cucina Estiatorio ( 75 Thompson street )Piccola Cucina Uptown ( 106 E 60th Street )Piccola Cucina Osteria accepts online requests for parties smaller than 6 guests only.If you are looking for a bigger party or special event, please contact us info@piccolacucinagroup.comThank you

We arrived rather earlier than our booked reservation, but the staff quickly made a table available for us. The restaurant was smaller than we had expected which meant that we were rather close to the adjacent diners, nevertheless the atmosphere was cosy. Our server described the menu choices and we opted for the chef special mixed starter, followed by a delicious skirt steak cooked to perfection. We chose a "cool climate" red wine from the slopes of Mount Etna (about $165/btl) which was excellent, made from Italian varieties but not unlike a Pinot Noir).

Good food and atmosphere but this is not a place to linger. For a small place they need to turn tables. Service is efficient; however we prefer to finish our starters before plates are cleared and mains are served. Very nice and unusual starter of hummus, guacamole and caponata with toasted bread. The special of roasted octopus was well cooked and presented. At $170 for two, with a couple of rounds of drinks and including service this is not particularly cheap. We can see why it gets good reviews for quality of food, comprehensive wine list and hustle and bustle ambience.

The tiramisu is an absolute must-try—it’s made right in front of you and is absolutely divine. Every dish we tried was exceptional and top-notch. We especially loved the stuffed calamari, tuna tartare, sea bass, and the octopus tentacle.

Service is fast and friendly. However, it quickly became clear that the fast service is aimed at getting you out of the door as fast as possible. The bill is presented before dessert is finished, and plates are cleared before the last person is finished eating their food. I realise this is NYC, and efficiency is king to utilise the table as much as possible, but 50 min for four people to have three courses is a bit much. If we wanted fast food, we would have gone somewhere else. Sadly, the food suffers as a result of this as well, as it is clearly made in advance and warmed up upon order. (It would not be possible to cook the food in the allocated time.) As a result of this, the food was a bit bland. If you want to throw some mediocre food down your throat in nice surroundings at a high price, this is the place. If you want to take time to enjoy tasty food in good company, look elsewhere. NYC has plenty of alternatives!

I wanted to love this place! The menu brought back fond memories of a recent trip to Sicily, the staff were helpful and communicative, the ambiance cute (tho' very noisy). Those, plus the wonderful caponata and torta ciocollata, were the pluses. Big minus: I ordered the bucatini with sardines, pine nuts and wild fennel--no pine nuts, no raisins, no fennel. A very unappetizing one-note dish of pasta and sardines. I will say that the waitress noticed I'd left most of it and offered to bring me something else. I declined, which is on me. But it remained disappointing. I didn't hear any complaints from my fellow diners about their dishes.

This is the worst meal we have had in a long time. The food was overpriced and the service terrible. The pasta was undercooked and the sauces were tasteless. All this served up with piped rock music so loud you could not hear each other speak.

Groups of 7 must be challenge for restaurants of any stripe. When the dining room probably seats no more than 25 inside, it makes it all the more so. There is outside seating but the weather, despite the heaters, made that less than appealing. Fortunately, the service from Victor, and the food were first class and despite the smallness of the dining area, we were not rushed off our table(s) which I always greatly appreciate. When I see arancini on the menu, I can never resist it and this restaurant delivered a very fine example indeed. We actually ordered 3 (each has 2 balls) and they added one so that we all had a taste. Really an excellent example of this dish that is very challenging to make at home. I am also something of a sucker for gnocchi but it can be bland so I sometimes order it with some trepidation. I needn't have had any concern here because the sauce and the texture of the gnocchi themselves were delicious. The sauce was a ragu with delightfully tender meat within. I was very pleased with what I ordered. For such a small place, one would expect it to be loud and it is certainly bustling, but not too noisy for across table conversations. The tiny kitchen is at the end of the room, fully visible and it is fun to see them work although I don't know how they produce such dishes in a space this cramped. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant, with attentive, friendly and light hearted service (ask your server for recommendations) and I will definitely return when I am in Soho again and thinking about Italian food. Can't comment directly on the value since I wasn't the one grabbing the bill this particular time, but from the menu it seemed that it was definitely worth it.

We never got to enjoy the wonderful meal that all the reviews say this great restaurant delivers because when we arrived to this tiny restaurant to our reserved table...it was a table for two alongside five other tables of two. Intimate yes, with zero privacy the tables are that close. The next table conversation was unavoidably overheard. On the reservation we asked for the quietest table possible..that is not possible here. On the positive side, the hostess was first class. Warm and welcoming. She was very understanding when we had to leave (before ordering) since my wife suffers from claustrophobia and the seating made her quite uncomfortable. Perhaps go early before the crowd arrives.

Had a fantastic dinner at Piccola Cucina. The food was authentic and full of flavor, but what really made the night special was our server ELIDETH. She was super attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. Definitely coming back for both the food and the service!

This spot was a fabulously cozy and delectable spot for an authentic Italian dinner with family. Our waitress Elideth was very kind and willing to give not only wonderful suggestions for their evening specials, but also to joke with us as we ordered. The appetizers included an amazing Arancino rice ball (a must try) and mozzarella stuffed ribs. The main courses were a great assortment of various pasta dishes including a pork tailagette that reminded us of our honeymoon to Italy and Palermo. While dessert finished it all nicely with a classic cannoli among other fine mousses. We would recommend coming here!

Excellent service and ambiance. The food was incredible. Caesar salad prepared table side, excellent burrata, pasta dishes and do not miss out on their tiramisu. It’s prepared table side as well and was beyond amazing! Will definitely return!

I went here with my cousin to try some new food to expand my palette, and the food did not disappoint. Everything was prepared quickly and tasted amazing, although we couldn’t finish our food as the portions were large. My waiters name was Elideth Mendoza and she was very nice and thoughtful to me and my cousin. Small establishment but mighty.

Small, cosy restaurant, that provided excellent food and quickly. Very attentive waiters, happy to provide two small starters instead of main course, for example. Tiramisu was lovely and prepared fresh at the table. if critical, I would have preferred a small touch of alcohol to be included. Nevertheless, I would be happy to return there when visiting the area again

A Such a gem and our server, Elideth, was amazing. She was so attentive and made sure our kids to the adults loved their meals. We had the truffle tasting menu along with the wild boar rahu and other amazing pasta dishes. Get the yellowtail carpaccio to start, it will melt in your mouth so good! Definitely a neighborhood gem!!!!

SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
