About
Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Wonderful experience all around! The service was perfect. Appetizers, steaks and hash browns could not have been better. Be sure to ask your server about the history of the restaurant. Highly recommend!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Was also fascinated by all the pipes in the ceiling which one of the staff explained. If you go make sure you ask about the pipes.

Fantastic experience. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff who are knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. Food was wonderful (we ordered classically; oysters and mutton, which lived up to all expectations)) and there is an extensive wine list (covering all budgets). Booked for a birthday celebration and we were...running late, the front of house staff were so helpful and immediately defused what was a very stressful situation for us, and the table waiting staff made us feel at ease very quickly. We are super grateful for their compassion and consideration, especially in what is a busy environment. Have already recommended to friends and will return.More

I love Keens for their mutton and steaks but their burger slightky missed the mark for me. I’m spoiled when it comes to burgers because I’ve had so many I might be an expert at this point. First off, the burger wasn’t rare like I...requested. The pic marker says M. Rare. The difference between Rare and Medium Rare is noticeable. Second, the price point is high so I expect my burger to be exactly like I ordered. I still love Keenes but I would rather go to Peter Luger for this type of steak house burger.More

Skipped breakfast for this steakhouse and shared an excellent medium rare Chateaubriand with my wife with 3 sauces. The Littleneck Clams were approaching the size of oysters and my wife loved her crabcakes. Not only have we ticked this one off our bucket list it...has made the list for return visits.More

A classic for a reason. Great service and great food at reasonable prices. Caeser salad is first rate. Steak was perfectly cooked. Sides are awesome and they know how to make a very nice Old Fashioned. A number of great steakhouses in NYC but this...is certainly top 3More

Classic older world restaurant in Manhattan, Keens has a rich history dating back to the 1800s that you feel from the moment you enter. Fantastic bar and meal menu. They are famous for their mutton which didn't disappoint. Enjoy!

Old style traditional New York steakhouse. Lots of history, great service and excellent food. Loved the histrionic pipes and newspaper cuttings

I’ve been wanting to eat here since 1975! Have only been in the great bar. Amazing whisky lists! The vide is definitely old school NYC. I doubt much has changed since 1885. Service was excellent and Tristan a great server. The food is amazing. We...had the huge prime rib and of course I had to have the mutton chop. Both h cooked perfectly and simply fantastic. The hash browns are great too. A nice surprise for my birthday was the restaurant giving me a slice of cheesecake for dessert. Very tasty and homemade. Not the usual. I can’t wait to go back.More

Had a chance to visit this landmark restaurant in NYC. We sat at the bar. Seating was tight. No reservations available. Bar was first come, first served. We had the filet skewers with mashed potatoes. It was an appetizer but enough for a meal. Great...bartender. Lots of history!! Worth the stop.More

Keens steakhouse gets the award for my personal worst steakhouse in the country. The steak came out super fast, I ordered a well done steak. Bam! 10 minutes after I ordered it our porterhouse for 2 arrived cooked through and through, super dry and luke...warm. The steak was obviously pre cooked. No flavor, super bland like card board. They are trying to rush you out asap, and with the bum rush service, and crap steak it shows. The table next to us, a guy sat down waiting for the rest of his party after roughly 5 minutes someone came over to him and explained he needed to start ordering or leave. He ordered appetizers, and sure enough, a couple more minutes, his family joined him. They have no patience or interest in providing you with a high-quality meal or experience. It's all about pumping customers in and out fast. I read lots of reviews and watched YouTube videos about Keens, I thought we were really in for a great experience. The joke was on us. This place is a tourist trap. If you truly think this is a good steakhouse, God bless you. If you want a good steak that is way better than Keens, may I suggest Outback, Longhorn, seriously. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. One and done. Insulting. Do they care about this review? Not in the slightest, business is good with an endless supply of tourists to provide a piss poor experience to.More

Very typical New York steakhouse with lot of history (the clay pipes hanging on the ceilings belong to famous politicians, actors, etc collected throughout all these years). The decoration is authentic and original. I had one of the best T-Bone steaks in my life. You...would never expect entering a piece of American history so close to the Empire State Building and Times Square.More
