Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nestled just off the main square on W 16th St, this bakery has some delicious almond croissants, and lovely pain au chocolat. Many of the other offerings they had looked really good, including their breads, but these were the things that I tried, and they...were both excellent.More

Love their butter pecan cookies. It’s the best that I’ve ever had. Very tasty! They have good bread, too. Always busy. Some stores come with indoor seating, but it’s more of a to-go place, me thinks.

Following the list of sweets to try in NYC, my wife took us to Breads Bakery to have a babka. I must admit I had never had one before and I didn’t know what it was. In theory there are 2 flavors but the cinnamon...one is seasonal so the only option we had was chocolate. The babka are prebaked and prepacked so I don’t consider them as fresh products. And you can’t buy a fresh one. We had ours the following day and I found it rather dry. Its taste was kind of neutral and, even if it was not bad, I can’t say I look forward to eating another one. Plus I think that $17 for something that neutral and prepared God knows how much time in advance is way too expensive. I was in NYC this past weekend and usually go to Isaac's to get Babka to take home. Wasn't in the mood to take the subway all the way to brooklyn and back and found this place googling Babka. Lucky find. Was only a ten...minute walk from where I usually stay and near Bedford cheeseMore

So I eat very little breads and pastries. We live in the Chicago suburbs and I don't find such items ever worth the calories. I wish I could have ordered one of everything! We had a day of walking and subway travel so I only...got 2 cinnamon rolls to share with my daughters. Oh carb heaven. They were crispy cinnamony goodness without being to sweet. The next time we are in NYC I will be back. The coffee was just ok.More

My husband and I ordered several items to go - spinach pastries, quiche, cheese straws, cheesecake and chocolate rugelach. Everything was delicious and the service in the bakery was friendly & welcoming. Overall it did seem a little bit pricey, but I imagine it’s on...par with similar places in New York. We would definitely return for the service and because there were lots of vegetarian choices.More

I liked their pastries but if I compare the price with other bakeries it is bit over priced. Otherwise, my overall experience was good. Nice and clean place.

We came to this place twice, since the salads and sandwiches were tasty. We also took a chocolate babka with us and really enjoyed it. It's not too far from Central Park, so it's a good place to stop by and grab healthy food for...a picnic.More

Sorry other babkas (and I've tried them all), Breads is the winner. In a babka, I am looking for a weighty, leaden item. This one is jam packed with chocolate, and is sure to disappear quickly. The sandwiches and other pastries are great, and they...do some nice catering as well.More

One stand for breads and bakery, another one (at the end of the shop) for sandwiches and coffee. Fast service. I took a cinnamon roll: light and flaky like croissant, a delight, then came back and bought a muesli bun, which was just exceptional: lots...of nuts and grains and I think what was fresh apple pieces. It's a pity (and my luck) that I don't live close to it.More
