After a week in Boston, my husband and I agreed that North Street Grille was easily the best restaurant we visited. The food was so good, and the service so friendly, that we booked multiple repeat visits (all for brunch). My favorite meal was the cannoli pancakes, but close runners-up were the Boston cream pie pancakes and the scrambled eggs, which were delightfully fluffy and flavorful -- much better than we make at home. My husband had an omelet that was delicious, and the complimentary banana bread was some of the best I ever tasted. The latte was a slight miss for me, but the drip coffee was very nice, as were the mimosas. All the servers we had were warm and attentive. It felt like a real family place.
I strongly recommend reservations. The line outside was long most days we were there. Also, the space is small and the passageways between tables a bit narrow. We didn't mind because it added to the experience (being nestled in with other folks who had come from near and far for an unforgettable breakfast!), but be prepared.
Another perk is the charming neighborhood. You can follow up breakfast with a stroll around the picturesque North End.
I hope we can return someday!

I went on the hotel's recommendation to have breakfast at NSG. They warned me that they are the best and that I would have to wait. When I arrived, there was a space at the bar and on the waiter's recommendation I asked for the business special to choose from and my order was French toast, egg, bacon, etc.etc. The very friendly service Afton and Ely, very friendly, the place very cozy and the food arrived in the blink of an eye, fast and tasty. Excellent, with breakfast I am ready for the whole day.

Great brunch this morning! Had made a reservation, and were seated immediately. This is very small, cozy restaurant so be prepared to sit close to your neighbors. Server came along quickly, explained menu is only by QR code, no problem.
We both ordered coffee and a cocktail, shared the Bourbon maple French Toast and Smoked Salmon Benedict. Orders came out in a timely manner, and our server was good enough to bring 2 small plates so we could share. We were very happy that we did! Food was fantastic, and servings were very generous.
I’d love to come back again!

We stopped in on a Sunday with another couple. The hostess was super nice and helpful. There was a 45 min wait. The place is really small. We were seated in a corner booth that it is hard to believe passes fire inspection because in an emergency you are not getting out fast. The espresso machine was broken the waiter informed us. They had literally one of the worst cups of coffee you could get. So bad not drinkable. The waiter was very rude. We order chicken and waffle slider they were good not great. One person at table ordered avocado toast that did not come out with the other three meals . When we asked the waiter she said it was on the way. Five mins later I asked again and her response was “it will be out when it is ready”. You must be kidding. The easiest item on the table. If she had just admitted she made a mistake okay and let’s move on but not the case. This becomes a hard pass since there are way too many good food options with people that care in the North End than to deal with this.

Was recommended by a friend to try the North Street Grille while I was in Boston.
I ordered Cheesecake Pancakes that were a special.
Unfortunately they were dry and no cheesecake in sight.
When I told her I think they forgot to put the cheesecake on them, she said it was a cheesecake sauce!?!?
$18 for 3 dry pancakes with cheesecake SAUCE!!
In NY, they put actual whipped cheesecake on them.
Wanted to love this place, but I was so disappointed.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast. Popular eatery with the locals, so you know it’s great food. Seating is tight, so expect a wait - but well worth it. Very large menu selection. Fried eggs with soft yolk are made to perfection! Food came fast and was delicious, staff was very friendly and attentive.

A cozy restaurant with friendly staff and even better food! Our family of 6 visited on a Sunday morning with a reservation and were quickly welcomed despite a very busy restaurant. We enjoyed mimosas and iced coffee drinks, wonderful French Toast options and my absolute favorite, the Burrata AvocadoToast. The staff were very attentive to the dietary needs at our table. Highly recommend!

This was recommended by a friend and very welcomed it was! I was there by 9:30 so no queue as I hadn’t booked, but as I was eating solo it was easy to fit me in at the counter. An hour later and there was quite a long queue. It’s not a very big place inside.
It is however such a welcoming place. There is an extensive menu which is impressive and they are happy to make substitutes for you. The complimentary banana bread was delicious. They were friendly and efficient, very slick.
I saw a review framed on the wall which essentially summarised this place as ‘great food and atmosphere, shame about the decor’ and that very much sums it up!!

We loved our meal so much that we came here a lot during our vacation. Recommend making reservations. The staff work incredibly hard, and the food is AMAZING. The bourbon banana French toast, chicken and waffles, and chorizo hash were all exceptional. Christine, our server, was kind and attentive.

We had a reservation right at opening for breakfast on Saturday morning and that was the right move. There’s a line of people waiting to get in here for all of breakfast/brunch service. I ordered the chicken & waffles sliders and my husband got the crab omelet. We loved our meals and agreed that the home fries were perfectly seasoned and the best breakfast potatoes we’ve had anywhere. Seriously, they are no side dish. I’m back home dreaming about those potatoes. The portions are ample so there’s no chance of leaving hungry. Our server was engaging and kept us filled up on drinks. We will definitely make this place a priority on future visits.

Just fabulous!!! Someone at the airport recommended this place. We were wanting a sit down breakfast and it was one of the best meals we had here in Boston. It is off the beaten path and best to make a reservation. We ate omelettes, French toast, pancakes, fruit, and bacon and all had a special twist!! Must eat here!!

I was at North Street Grille for the first time yesterday. After waiting 35 minutes for a seat at the bar, my friend and I had the misfortune of sitting next to a drunken, foul-mouthed, racist, misogynist blow-hard! He kept saying "this is my last drink, then I'm leaving", yet he kept drinking, and we kept waiting for someone on the staff to gently remind him that there are other patrons, and maybe he should rein in his filthy language - which included a description of a woman's vagina, and many utterances of the "n" word. Instead, the staff, including bar staff, thought he was funny, and kept pouring him fresh martinis. His car keys were on the bar. We left there with a bad taste in our mouths, which is too bad, because the food was actually good. I won't be back.

The North Street Grille was a little ways off the tourist path but was a great little brunch spot. It was small with limited seating so I would recommend reservations for weekend peak times. The eggs benedict and omelets were all excellent. It had a great mimosa selection.

North Street Grille was recommended to us by our hotel staff as a great place for breakfast/brunch. It’s located in a quaint neighborhood in Boston about a quarter mile from Faneuil Hall.
As we arrived we could tell this was a favorite of visitors and locals alike. The place was packed, but the hostess and wait staff went above and beyond finding us a spot to eat breakfast with little wait time.
As you wait for your order to be served you are provided fresh, warm banana nut bread. It’s delicious!
The breakfast itself was outstanding.! The service was fantastic!
I highly recommend North Street Grille. Reservations are recommended. You can make those at bestbrunchboston.com

Saw the great reviews and ventured back to the North End to try this place for breakfast. Didn’t have reservations but they were able to seat us at the bar right away. As we waited with coffee, they bring over a dish of the BEST banana bread I’ve ever had. I would have ordered just that for breakfast - but I didn’t. I got the Crab Benedict and J got the regular eggs Benedict. I got the potatoes with peppers, onions, and cheese and would highly recommend getting them that way. Delicious! Great breakfast, fast service, and friendly staff. Note: They do take credit cards and there is outdoor seating. I’d make reservations next time.
