My friends and I stayed at Big Horn Valley Ranch because we heard the food was epic! We started off with a round of buffalo wings paired perfectly with the booze we brought from home- YUM. Then my friends moved on to burgers & pizza! They said the burgers were cooked to medium rare perfection and the pizza was cheesy and steamy. Me, a country girl who has a taste for the finer things, however, enjoyed a sirloin steak with a loaded baked potato and veggies- gotta get that protein! The steak was medium rare and tender and juicy. they definitely know what they're doing at Big Horn Valley Ranch!

Excellent food! Had a Bacon Cheeseburger for lunch that was phenomenal. After fishing the BigHorn river all day, came back to the restaurant for a hearty salad and the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. WOW! We will definitely be returning next year. Can't wait to see the renovation and what's to come for the new ownership. Cheers.

We stayed at the Big Horn Valley Resort and ate at the restaurant several times. The restaurant is open to the public. Food was very good and the service was even better! The view from the back deck was amazing as well.

Great food! My kids can be picky eaters and they had something for everyone! I loved everything about this place, the food and service was great, everyone was very friendly and attentive - the grounds are absolutely stunning! There is a big patio and the cabins look like a great place to stay as well. We look forward to coming back soon!

We tried the meat lovers and supreme combo pizzas. Both were very good and had generous toppings. Members of our part enjoyed root beer floats and huckleberry milkshakes. The waitress was friendly and the service very good.

Nice food, pleasant staff. The basic steak and burgers were the real treat. Very clean, the cabins attached looked like better place to stay than the low budget oprion elsewhere.

I spent a week fishing on the Big Horn River in Fort Smith and each evening we stopped at the Tailwater restaurant for dinner. It isn't often that I order the same thing four nights in a row but their rib eye steaks were to die for ! Highly recommend the Tailwater Restaurant when you are in the area.

We were pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the service was wonderful. The pacing of the food was perfect. We had a relaxing meal and didn't feel rushed even though they were busy.

As usual, the service and food were excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a supreme pizza which was as good as I remembered from last year. Since I always stay at the RV park which is adjacent to the restaurant, I eat there frequently when I fish the Bighorn River. It is very convenient when coming of the river after a full day on the water and stop by and enjoy a great meal.

Do not drive all the way to Fort Smith to eat. There is NOTHING THERE. Only a weird looking casino and a lone Fly fishing shop and that's it. It's very remote . This Restsurant is half way to Fort Smith - watch for a patchy non description sign on right . You will see wooden log cabins. That's the place. Middle of nowhere !!! After, go for canyon outlook at Bighorn Canyon - yellowtail Dam. You may also see wild horses. The food was Good. Pizza looked amazing and gluten free option was garden salad which promoted a hard boiled egg which never was there. When I questioned the server she stated "we get our eggs fresh and we are out of eggs".

Steph, Thank you for the review. We are working on getting a more "catchy" sign. As for the "hard boiled egg" we put cut up hard boiled eggs on the salad, we do not offer a full hard boiled egg. Next time you stop in, ask for a full hard boiled egg and if we have some on hand we will be than happy to get you one. Again, Thank you. Denice

My wife and I drove 10 miles out of town to eat here. I honestly wasn't expecting too much due to the scarceness of other restaurants within 20 miles, but I expected more than we got.... It seems they proudly advertise that they make "handmade meatballs daily" right there on the menu. However, we must have picked the only day they didn't?. My wife ordered the spaghetti & meatballs, however, after a pretty good blue cheese salad, the spaghetti arrived... but no meatballs were to be found. She asked the server about the lack of meat, and she was told that they didn't make any today...(maybe hoping she wouldn't notice)?? I am sure after a long day's fishing on the river, you may not really give a hoot, but the meatballs are 50% of the recipe. At least freeze some and apologize for not having any fresh made that day... It would have been nice to have been told up front that there were no meatballs so something else on the menu could have been selected. Must have been a slow day, because there was no dessert available either. I am sure this is a decent hamburger, bbq and pizza joint, but other than the salad, it falls short of a true "restaurant" (on the day we were there at least) Next time we will head 10 miles the other way to Ok-a-beh marina

Jorton, Thank you for the review. However, our servers do tell our guests when we are out of something, and I am sure you and your wife were told we had no meatballs. I am the one that cooks in the back and if there was a problem, you could have asked to speak to me. When I make my Spaghetti, I make it with beef and sausage, so yes there was meat in the sauce. I am sorry there was no "dessert" made that day, but we always have ice cream on hand and we also offer several types of milkshakes. This is a family ran business, and everyone else that eats here has no problems with our place. If you know anything about the area, you would know that finding help is hard to do. So, you hit us on a day that we were under staffed and we did the best we could, but that is not a reason to say "it falls short of a true "restaurant"

Trying to find a restaurant in or near Ft Smith is more difficult than finding a needle in a haystack. We looked and looked and looked until we were told to go to the Tailwater Restaurant at the Garrison Stoker Resort. Other than the local (minimal) "grocery store" it is essentially your only eating option (other than snacks out of a machine). That said, it AINT BAD !!! In fact it is very good and the people are delightful. That said, I gather that the proprietors of it do not necessarily enjoy that same opinion of "the locals". I don't know why .. but there is some bad blood between some locals and the Tailwater proprietors. We went there several times as parties of 4. Service was average but the food was good and reasonably priced. I had a hamburger once and another time the Chiken Pasta. It was fabulous ... a little well done on the pasta side but very tasty and affordable. Understand that you are essentially on an Indian Reservation. This means that you cannot buy beer or wine there ... but you can bring in your own firewater with no corking fee! As one who has become accustomed to $15-$25 corking fees in Southern California I was totally shocked but DELIGHTED. In fact you almost save enough to pay for your meal. Go figure. The setting is nice too. After all it is a resort. So there is a nice, but small, private lake you can overlook. I found our servers and especially our hostess delightful. I would expect you to feel the same way. For the only real dining option in Ft Smith it aint bad. Enjoy. Especially after a long day of having those Bighorn trout beat you up. NOTE: THERE IS ONLY ONE SIGN ON THE MAIN ROAD AND YOU CAN EASILY MISS IT !!!!!
