Have been here before and have really enjoyed the meals but I think as the reputation of this place has grown they have become too successful and unfortunately they struggled to handle the numbers that come to dine. Went there last night for a grandsons...birthday and once seated were told that meals would be at least an hour. This is a long time to wait and we did see some people leave because of the wait. This coupled with power that seemed to flick on and off during the evening meant that it was a prolonged visit and we even had to wait 10 minutes just to pay as the tills were not working. I was annoyed also that we would be charged $15 cakeage fee if we took our own birthday cake which is a first that I have ever encountered. Not your best work last night for "The Tap" and we were disappointed.More
Very popular place, clean and friendly staff. excellent choices of food on offer.
Our group were quite loud and full of fun. It was a family reunion and as such everyone one was talking to everyone. The staff seemed to be able to join in,...which gave it a great atmosphere.More
We have been to the Tai Tapu Hotel before and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a great venue and has obviously gained a terrific following. Well Done to you.
However, there comes a point when a popular venue simply has to say that they are...full and stop taking bookings in order to provide customers with a good level of service.
Today 11 of us plus 2 children had a lunch booking. Simply, the service was very, very slow, the wait team looked stressed and a request for a soup and two childrens meals to be served ASAP due to circumstances resulted in the soup arriving but no children's meals....after waiting 20 minutes, a request was made for the childrens meals to be packed as take aways....they eventually arrived just as the guest and children were about to leave.
When the rest of the meals arrived they were lovely...nicely presented, as per menu description and very flavoursome....no complaints.
The other disappointment for us was the sound system. The restaurant was very busy and there was plenty of conversation but above the sound of happy punters was a continuous boom boom base sound...presumably it was from the music outside but inside there was no music just the constant base sound...our group ranged from 30's up and included a very passionate heavy metal/rock enthusiast but everyone decided against coffee as it simply wasn't a comfortable atmosphere.
There is so much to love about the Tai Tapu Hotel but it just felt that you were trying to cater for too many people today.More
Nice place but shouldn't have yo wait 1hour 30minutes for meals. Then the other 2 meals 10 minutes apart after that. Should have gone to mcdonalds would have been more enjoyable especially for kids as icecream sundaes were rubbish
The Tai Tapu hotel has a range of different spaces. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and chose to sit outside under one of the umbrellas, and very pleasant it was. The food is essentially pub fare, and it was very good. On arrival we...a bit daunted by the number of cars parked outside, but there was space for everybody. It is ideal for families with lots of space for the bambini to run. Well worth a visit.More
Had a family birthday lunch at The Tap today.
Five adults one toddler in high chair.
Very welcoming and friendly staff.
The restaurant both indoors and out was fully booked.
It was buzzing with people enjoying a nice day out.
The food was gorgeous in...both presentation and taste.
Hats off to the hard working kitchen team, you did exceptionally well.
We will be recommending this for sureMore
Very good chicken and brie pizza. Requested well done and it was cooked perfectly for what we wanted. Hadfield with it and they were accompanied by a small bowl of gravy, very tummy.
Lovely setting and a fine day to be there.
