Had two excellent evening meals here. Interesting menu, food well-prepared, service attentive. Building is historic, and nicely restored. Shady outside seating available. We thought it was quite a nice place for a fairly small town.

Located in a historic and warm building in downtown Lander, the Cowfish is consistently one of the best places for a fine dining (with a casual flare) experience in the state. The food is always top quality. From starters to desserts, the quality, variety, and...value are like no other in Fremont County. The chef and cook-staff compose each dish with the care and detail you would expect from an upscale restaurant. Servers are personable and knowledgeable. It is obvious they take pride in providing a uniquely, high-end experience. The Cowfish is also part of the Lander Brewing Company, so their offerings of outstanding beer, wine, and cocktails are second to none. The place is extremely popular, so make reservations ahead of your arrival, and be prepared for a slightly loud, bistro atmosphere when tables are packed. Excellent food but a bit pricey. More the kind of place for special dinners, especially if you are on fixed income

We liked everything about this restaurant! Our server Trina was really sweet and the food was delicious! We had the rainbow trout served with spinach and artichoke hearts and topped with roasted hazelnuts YUM and the guys had pasta with Gorgonzola sauce YUM! And one...thing I noticed is that everyone working there seemed happy to work there. The young host really took his job to heart and did a great job cleaning tables and seating people as soon as possible. Recommend this place!More

Traveling across the country, we decided to stop in Lander, WY just to eat here. It was a five star experience! The ambiance and “story” of the restaurant was great, the bartender Addie was an absolute pleasure to chat with and the food was out...of this world. I wanted to try the Malfadine and Gorgonzola pasta dish but was really dying for some fish. The chef blackened some Mahi Mahi and topped my pasta dish. Every bite was an absolute wow! Maybe this combination will be added to the menu someday. Or just ask for it- the chef was so accommodating!More

Service was excellent, My wife’s and I shared a grilled chicken salad and an order of fish and chips. Both the salad and fish and chips were huge. Four large crispy battered fish filets. Fresh filets no less! I’ve eaten at Cowfish once or twice...each of the past couple of years. Never disappoints!More

This place was awesome!!! Great beer, great atmosphere, great food, great service! Seriously, I can’t find one thing I didn’t like. DO GO HERE if you are in Lander!

I am not sure about the food here as we only had beers. Only and handful of beer and I personally did not care for the blonde ale. Looks like a nice place and service was fine. might try again if in the area.

Family of 5 visiting from the East and decided to try out a local restaurant while waiting to see the Eagle Spirit Dancers. Adults split the wedge salad, which was great, and also tried the bison ravioli, fish tacos, and scallop risotto, all very good....Kids had burgers and Mac and cheese, no leftovers! Wait staff all very attentive, all around a great experience!More

This is a difficult review for me to write. We came in for drinks and appetizers. I fully appreciate what the goal they are reaching for, but I found the execution not to par to that ideal. The food was good, however my rating is...based on them not meeting that goal. Again... We only had appetizers. I feel kind of bad leaving a 3 Star rating. I hope to return and try some main courses.More

Great outdoor patio. Great quality food - we loved the southwest egg rolls and the trout dinner! Would give them 5 stars, but we didn't get bread with our $27 trout meal. When we asked our waitress, she said it didn't come with the meal....We double checked the menu on our way out and it clearly says that bread comes with the meal!More

I was shocked to see a restaurant with this menu, as well as being a James Beard semi-finalist in this small town as we were passing through from Yellowstone to Denver. What a nice surprise! The menu had many delicious options. I opted for the...bison ravioli sugo, after discussing it with our server, who was friendly and gave me her honest opinions. It was so good! The sourdough bread with butter was also good. For dessert I ordered the butterscotch budino and it was also delicious. The service was great, the food was great, the ambiance of the restaurant was great, and the price point was great. Bottom line: if you're passing through Lander, you have to eat here!More
