The Main Dining Room breakfast buffet was outstanding. From the scrambled eggs, sausages, fried potatoes to the fruit, the buffet was delicious. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and very experienced. He enhanced our breakfast experience. Our dinner in the Main Dining Room was not as stellar. At 8pm there were several open tables, but we were seated beside the servers station. This was a noisy place to be considering the other tables available. Aside from the table location, the dinner began as one would expect, but no bread was served until we asked, and no one asked to refill our empty iced tea glasses. The butternut soup was delicious as were the pork loin and the poached eggs entrees. For dessert the ice cream was very good, but the peach halves in the traditional peach dessert were not flavorful and not worth eating. Our server did not offer coffee nor hot tea to us, and she did not engage us in any conversation other than what was necessary to take our orders and deliver the food. We were celebrating Valentine’s Day at the Greenbrier, and our expectations were not met. We do love the Greenbrier, but this night was subpar.

My wife and I visit the Greenbrier annually and we always eat our breakfasts in the Main Dining room. We reccommend the large buffet consisting of southern food, fresh fruits, and baked goods. The massive rooms, enormous chandeliers, and wait staff dressed in their dress whites makes this a great dining place to start of the day. We will definitely be back!

The Greenbrier’s Main dining room is the definition of excellent service and fantastic food. We have stayed at The Greenbrier five times in the past year, and every time it’s a wonderful experience. The beautiful Main dining room is staffed with terrific people who do everything possible to ensure you have a great meal . The buffet is delicious and has a huge variety of food. The omelette station has a ton of options to choose for your special order to be cheerfully prepared just for you. While that’s cooking you can fill your plate with all the usual options plus delicious surprises like fresh trout, berry bread pudding, artisan sausages, fresh croissants, salmon, Belgian waffles and more. So many fantastic options and all of them taste fantastic! Once you begin eating, the great service makes sure your glass stays full and you want for nothing. It’s pure bliss to look out at the flowers in the garden and enjoy such a feast. We highly recommend it and we have already booked our next stay- I’m counting down the days until I’m there again!

This was our second year visiting the Greenbrier and having dinner in the main dining hall. I was a bit disappointed in the meal this year As I ordered the duck and it was so difficult to cut I returned half of it. Our waiter discounted our meal by 15% with no argument but as you can imagine the bill was still high. Next visit there I’m trying the Italian restaurant.

Ive had dinner at the Dining room on 2 separate visits. The 1st visit the food was cold and disappointing. The 2nd visit the food at dinner was much better. Ive also had breakfast in the dining room many times as it is the primary option. I've only had the buffet for breakfast. The service at breakfast on my last visit was less than acceptable, the hostess was rude and unaccommodating. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by one of the hostesses, who asked if we were part of a group that was having a convention there. We said yes, and she said that we would need to be seated with others from the group and would need to wait to be seated until we had a full table. We were a party of two and saw many open tables for two. We let her know that we didn't really want to wait to be seated when there were so many open tables, and that we would prefer to enjoy our meal alone. This led to blank stares and more talk about sharing tables, finally after several minutes, and complaints from the couple behind us, the hostess begrudgingly led us to one of the open tables (we passed 3 open tables for 2). I find it hard to believe that a place such as The Greenbrier would actually suggest (and nearly demand) table sharing for a breakfast buffet when there are plenty of open tables available. I had been much more impressed with my dining experience than I was during a previous visit to The Greenbrier, the good impression was ruined at a breakfast buffet of all places, how hard is it?

The food was decent but expensive. The service was extremely bad! The servers were rude and we sat waiting for over an hour on our meal after ordering. We had to ask for refills on our water, they waited until after we were served appetizers to get the bread. I have enjoyed my weekend so far to the Greenbrier, but I don’t think I will ever eat in the Main Dining Room again!

Cup of coffee $6.00 plus, plus bringing it to $7.50. I did expect to encounter high prices when I booked 4 days at the Greenbrier but I didn't expect to get robbed. Breakfast on our first morning consisted of Eggs Benedict for me and Corned beef hash and eggs for my wife. Total bill, $70.00. It didn't stop there. Happy hour in 12 Oaks in the Casino Club set us back another $70 for 4 cocktails (half priced for Happy Hour). Dinner in the Main Dining Room $192.00 without drinks. We have travelled the world and eaten at many Michelin Starred restaurants and had superior food and service for less than the Greenbrier charges.

During our stay at The Greenbriar, this is where we enjoyed breakfast each morning. The setting is lovely, and you can order a la carte from the menu, or, choose the breakfast buffet. Our youngest granddaughter requires a gluten-free diet, so we were pleased that they could accommodate that here. Unlike lunch and dinner here, you don't need to make a reservation for breakfast which we appreciated. Great food, and great service.

We had a very nice dinner, and I like the fact that you can get dressed up for dinner. The food and services is good. We went back the next morning for the buffet and it was amazing. So much food and nice choices. I was told to come early because they book up fast and you can not make a reservation. I arrived right after they opened and honestly I could have arrived an hour later and we would have gotten a table. The Greenbrier really does need to start allowing reservation for all of thier restaurants for all of their meals.

At here for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was overpriced and under staffed. Long wait times to be seated, slow service. Staff was inattentive and slow to serve. Couldn’t even get hot coffee refills. Completely overpriced for coffee, toast and grits. The service fee added automatically raised the price even more. As for dinner, staff was more attentive and reservations made being seated on time easier. Limited menu selection although the food was good. Something for everyone; meat eat Era, seafood lovers and pasta. Wait staff was accommodating with dietary needs and tended to the table well. They didn’t seem to enforce the strict dress code which was so strongly highlighted e prior to dining- this was somewhat disappointing in a place like this especially since our group went through the trouble of dressing up.

We were so excited to try this place, but were very disappointed with the service and food. The entree's were very small & there was no wine expert on site to help us order a bottle of wine. Our waiter didn't know anything about the wine he was serving. I do not recommend eating dinner here.

We had breakfast here 2 days in a row and the food was consistently good. The service on Saturday was excellent! The service on Sunday was provided by a very grumpy member of the waitstaff who clearly did not want to be there. I’m sorry we couldn’t have been there when a buffet was available, but we are living in strange times. Maybe next time.

Breakfast buffet has many chalices and food is excellent. Lots of fruit, waffles, create your own omelet, various breads, bacon and sausage, etc. Dinner was even better with a French inspired menu including normal American items like steaks. Service is high level and ambience is friendly and conservative.

The Main Dining room was only open for breakfast when I was there. BUT....don't miss the experience in this elegant dining rooms. Incredible chandeliers, white table cloth service, grrrreat breakfast menu and good service. Unusual Sportman's breakfast has fresh brook trout! Remember creamed chipped beef on toast---try the Old White! Brought back childhood memories. Different but delish Eggs Benedict with house smoked pork loin instead of Canadian bacon.

Enjoyed breakfast here 2 mornings during our stay. Excellent food and service. There are lots of choices from yogurt parfaits to omelettes and pancakes or waffles. Yummy! The yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola was delicious as were the peach pancakes and omelettes with lots of cheese. Loved the breakfast. Could not have had a better breakfast anywhere along with such a beautiful setting!
