Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were disappointed in our meal at The Forum during our stay at The Greenbriar. The service was very slow, even though the restaurant wasn't even half full due to social distancing requirements, and the food itself was nothing to recommend. I ordered the pizza, supposedly one of their specialties, and it isn't anything I would order again. My wife said the same about her spaghetti and meatballs. You can do better elsewhere in the hotel.

Have stayed at The Greenbrier on two separate occasions the past year, my first trip I was disappointed overall with the food options. The trip this past weekend was much better, enjoyed the food much more, particularly The Forum. All the food was very good, but the service is what made the dinner special. Our waitress Julie, who admitted she was new to the job recently, was outstanding! She made very good suggestions, and I could tell she took great pride in her job, and enjoyed her work. She made my wife and I feel special, and she definitely went above and beyond what we expected to make sure we were happy and enjoyed our meal. My wife went so far as to say she was the best waitress ever, and I would agree! I hope to see Julie again on our next visit to The Greenbrier, she provided the kind of service that should be expected at a resort such as The Greenbrier.

Which we did. Ordered a bottle of wine, Banana Pepper Sausage appetizer (could have been a meal), Greek salad and Carne Pizza to share. Always get the large for late nite snacks or in morning when my husband likes best!!!! Our bartender was very friendly and food arrived very fast. It has a old time Italian charm with blue and white checkered tablecloth’s on all the tables. Could be romantic, family to large parties.

The Forum had zero reservations available on July 3 or 4, 2021. We did go ahead and order take out. After waiting for over al hour for food, the pizza order was wrong and spaghetti was cold. Very disappointed in the food, and price. Take out soda - $6.50.

We arrived at the Greenbrier on a Friday and almost all the staff have been wonderful and friendly with the exception of this restaraunt. We asked for a table on Saturday and were informed that they were booked. There were so many tables open. They informed is we could sit at the bar with our son. We attemoted but were ignored for a number of minutes and then my son felt uncomfortable at the bar, as he was 11. We decided to go to another Greenbrier restaraunt and had a good time with great food and excellent friendly service. The next day we made reservations for The Forum and arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation after just coming in from outside. My husband was wearing his sweatshirt with a nice shirt underneath and my son and I in our coats. They seemed to have remembered us from the night before and got a little weird when we said we had a reservation. The hostess said we see your reservation, you are early and there is a dress code. I said we would go change but at that point I was fed up because we were obviously wearing our winter attire from being out in the cold and going to take off our coats. We ordered room service instead and a wonderful person delivered our food and made us feel welcome. Again the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived for our reservation.

While the menu and atmosphere appeared beautiful- I felt like I was eating a grade above Olive Garden for a $375 dinner for 4. The sauce tasted like Ragu out of a jar. Dessert wasn’t good, service slow, Italian food at its worst. This was the 6th place we ate at on property and the 1st to disappoint. Much room for improvement for a 5 star resort.

We really enjoyed dining at the Forum. The ambiance was a trip (of course, as intended) back in time. We enjoyed our pizza but it was nothing spectacular. I enjoyed watching it be baked more than eating it. But it was all good and enjoyable. $37 for a pizza was a bit much, but most of the time, you're paying for the ambiance and the experience in places like this.

Upon entering the restaurant, the host asked if we made any reservations. No, we did not. We didn't know we had to do that. The restaurant looks fancy and nice, but no one is dressed in anything fancy. As soon the host went to seat us at a table, she placed us in the far back in a corner! All because we didn't make a reservation? Other than that, the waitress we ended up with a waitress who was extremely nice, very kind and understanding. The food, is delicious!

On a spur of the moment trip to the resort, we had reservations at this restaurant on our first night. It was clear that there were several conferences happening as well on this Weds evening. We had a drink at the bar first and then on to our meal. As a note, we asked the bartender for off-site breakfast suggestions and he told us about a place that only after driving there the next morning we came to find out has actually been closed for close to a year. So we were surprised to get bad info.... At any rate, we did wait some time to see a waitress, we ordered and I asked for a few things to be held on my salad and asked to have my salad and a side as my entree. When our food arrived, none of the requests I made were completed. So I picked thru my food removing the items I asked to have held. We had to wait a while to see the waitress, get fresh water, and there was no ask for more cocktails - why wouldn't they train the staff to ask for that?!? Overall, I feel it was not worth the money and would opt to go off-site in the future. Seems they are struggling to serve the larger tables from conferences and smaller tables at the same time.

Comfortable surroundings with pleasant staff. Nothing exceptional. The food was good and portions were plentiful. The pastas were cooked properly and the dishes were seasoned well. Not a special evening but a nice dinner.

We dined at The Forum on August 10, 2020. It was a bad experience. I had the angel hair pasta with shrimp. The was little sauce on the pasta, so everything was bland and starchy. My wife had a chicken piccata like dish. It was better than the angel hair pasta dish, but unremarkable. We each had a cocktail and the bill came to $100. A waste of money. FYI--there's a good Italian restaurant in Lewisburg, about 9 miles away from the Greenbrier, called The Humble Tomato. We like that restaurant very much. Another restaurant in Lewisburg, called the French Goat, is very, very good.

Nice Italian decor with extensive wine list and excellent Mojitos Spotty service They just drop off your entrees without a word Salad was disappointing. The lettuce was old and flavorless Spaghetti with meatballs is overpriced and two of my four meatballs were cold The warm bread was delicious! The house Chianti was pleasant. My wife had the sea bass which was nicely done with pesto but not worth returning for it No sign of any managers to oversee things. One expects more at the Greenbrier On a lighter note- the pizza did look good!

First of all, thank you to the Greenbrier concierge for finding us a spot on this busy night. Our food and service were excellent. Loved our waitress. I had an awesome vegetarian dish which consisted of a mushroom truffle in a pasta shell, topped with house made ricotta and marina. Sooo good! Enjoyed a perfectly blended cosmopolitan as well.

The Forum had very good Italian cuisine. The food took a lot longer than expected though. But overall, if you are looking for an Italian restaurant with a formal touch while staying at the Greenbrier, I highly recommend The Forum
