Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Top Spot in February 2022. My husband ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs that were a special that day. I couldn't decide what to get as several items on the menu were appealing, so I ordered the Spaghetti also. It was delicious! I loved the sauce. My husband thought the sauce too tangy, but that is why I liked it. The restaurant was clean and the staff pleasant, all as usual.

We were staying at a near by campground and they recommended this place. We went for lunch and it was pretty quiet but, it was early. The restaurant was clean and the waitress was on point. Our sweet tea was at our table almost as soon as we sat down. My husband asked her what she would recommend and she recommended the club sandwich (which he really enjoyed), I was feeling a bit adventurous so I ordered the meatloaf sandwich with onion rings. Not the most healthy meal but, it was AMAZING and I have NO regrets! Now, I am not a big lover of meatloaf but, the menu description had me curious. First to arrive were 2 home made, piping hot clover leaf rolls. They were huge, hot and perfectly pillowy soft. Just after the clover leaf rolls arrived our meals arrived. My meatloaf sandwich was savory goodness at it's best. The meatloaf sandwich was sandwiched between a sesame seed bun and topped with their homemade BBQ sauce topped with onions and I requested mayonaisse (since my Mom's meatloaf was quite often dry). This meatloaf was far from dry. The meatloaf had a great consistency (and I am sure delicous on it's own) but, topped with the BBQ sauce, raw onion slices and a bit of mayo it was Heaven in your mouth. The BBQ sauce was sweet, succulent and tangy with the onions on top it was the perfect compliment to the meatloaf. Now let me tell you about the onion rings. I was a little hesitant because they came out looking big and thick and I always think of onion rings as thin, wimpy. I was reading the reviews and they said beer battered. This was no beer batter than I had ever tasted. It was deceptivly light covering the entire thick onion ring and tasty. There was no need for ketchup, just a little salt and perfectly light batter in combination with the sweet onion was crisp and Yum! I told the waitress if they ever decide to open another Top Spot Country Cookin Restaurant they should open it in the town we live in SC. Oh, we had taken what was left of the clover leaf rolls home and reheated in the microwave added a little butter and they were almost as good as when they were fresh. Now, we know why it named Top Spot!

We were traveling through stopped for breakfast. The waitress said they had been very busy and therefore we’re out of biscuits and the menu is very limited. Food was OK but sausage gravy on white bread left a lot to be desired waited for a very long time for our meal and a check and at that point they were not very busy. Sorry but it was just not that great

1st time eating here. Everything was excellent. Sydney our server was friendly and did a great job. We tried the open roast beef sandwich, chicken and dumplings and the boneless spare ribs. They have real mashed potatoes Everything tasted great. The coleslaw is really good also. The blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream was tasty. Planning on eating here again before we leave the area. The did provide me a military discount which was much appreciated.

We stopped here for lunch on the way back to Michigan a few weeks ago. Very nice family friendly atmosphere. The food was good, fast and friendly service, and it was very clean. I had a very tasty pulled pork BBQ sandwich and we split a piece of the peanut butter pie. The pie was out of this world good, so much so that my sister took a whole one home in the cooler and it was still as good a few days later.

Have ate here numerous times and have always been pleased with my meal. Good home cooked country type food. One of the best hot Bologna sandwiches I've ever ate along with the beer batter fries. As for the reviewer that heard some racial talk while there. I have ate here at least 20 times and have never heard any such talk.

Been there twice and the food is good, large portions and friendly staff. I rated them average because they're good, but I would say it stands out to me.

We decided to try this place, bit off freeway, because of the good reviews here/online. We were not disappointed!! Sampler platter was EXCELLENT!! The barbecue pork (tender and very flavorful barb sauce), meatloaf, chicken (real slow cooked chicken) noodles and dumpling (light and so tasty), mashed potatoes (real) & rolls (warm, fresh and delish) were super tasty and delicious!! The hamburger was enjoyed by my husband. Very good meat, tasty and topped with yummy toppings! We tend to eat at home often because cooking homemade is often better but not in this case. I'd give this place an A++++++! We also split a piece of the peanut butter pie (Graham cracker crust and layer of chocolate). Though the piece of pie was rather small it was great quality so we savored every bite. If you're driving by this is worth the stop!! You won't be disappointed.

We were midway through a pretty decent lunch when I heard from across the room the waitress and a patron discussing why she would never move back to Cleveland. Their exchange included quite crude racial epithets and slurs. I had thought that we'd moved beyond this level of racist hostility, but apparently in this restaurant, at least, we haven't. At this point my meal pretty much lost all its flavor, and we left as quickly as possible. I'm not naive, I know that some people have racist feelings. I'd hope, though, that they would be careful about what they say in public. This waitress should have known better. She's not responsible for what the customer said, but her responses were offensive and unacceptable.

Great Down home cooking in West by God Virginia. Seriously, if you find yourself traveling through or near Sissonville, stop. Your Grandma is in the kitchen. The sampler rocked. Meatloaf, chicken and dumpling, barbecue. Yum!

This restaurant is located in Sissonville on route 21 a couple of miles from the high school. Every time we've driven from Cross Lanes to eat here, the food has been deliciously scrumptious. The meat loaf is mouth watering tasty.....the BBQ spare ribs are wonderful. They provide a large quantity on each plate and very reasonably priced. We'll definitely return soon.
