About
Built in 1847, when West Virginia was the western part of Virginia, the hotel was known as the Moorefield Hotel Company and the stockholders included Charles Carter Lee, eldest brother of Robert E. Lee. After the Civil War, it was operated by Captain C. B. Mullin, who made it into a renowned hostelry famous for its food. During Captain Mullin's tenure in the 1860' and 70's, known as the Golden Days of Moorefield, old hotel registers indicate that many men of note and distinction were guests. The building carried the name "The Mullin Hotel" for over 80 years and is West Virginia's oldest continuously operated hotel, serving as such for over 110 years

What do we look for in a good restaurant.
1. Cleanliness, check
2. Friendly service, check
4. Good food, double check
5. Value, check
This little gem has it all. My husband ordered the fried chicken and I got the meatloaf. Both meals came with the largest house salad we've ever had. Both entre's were substantial portions, and we were not disappointed with the quality or flavor. The atmosphere was quaint and I'd feel comfortable going in in jeans and a tee shirt.
I'm not saying this is the place for everyone but, we will be going back. That's for sure.

Just ok. Went in for lunch. Ordered the special. Had to send it back. Steak sandwich was small overcooked and had a huge hunk of fat. The server did replace my order with a burger which was ok.

The history of the place is interesting, but they serve canned peas and canned carrots. The mac and cheese side had very little cheese and the ribeye was not a good quality and seemed to be over tenderized. One person had the meatloaf...that was fabulous.

Upon completion of my meal, the waitress taking the plates from the table, took the unused silverware wrap that was given at the beginning of the meal, and placed it back into circulation with the clean silverware. I had placed the utensils on to my dirty plate, on top of the uneaten food that had been in contact with my hands and mouth, to make it easier to pick up all in one.
The fact that anything goes from the table top, where the potential for consumer contact, went back into the clean section without being washed, let alone the fact that it was on my used plate with consumed food, is absolutely unsettling and against all forms of restaurant standards and practices.
I imagine that since the little things are being overlooked, and what it seemed to be as a common practice as the individual did not hesitate to do this, that the larger and more intensive cleanings and health practices are not being taken seriously either.
On top of this incident, I saw the re-sanitization of the menu seemed to be a frequently used wet rag to wipe down the consumer used menu. Now I don’t know what the rag was dipped in, could have been a strong sanitation solution, but my best guess is that it was a wet rag from a sink or bucket of water that it sits in.
In light of this I had called and was refunded my total amount, which is nice of them, but should be pretty standard and warrants no real praise.
I would recommend that no one frequent the establishment as it draws concerns for public health, especially in a time of great concern with the worlds health pandemic.

We reserved what we thought was a private room for a birthday celebration at Mullins on June 11, 2022. When we arrived we were seated in the main dining room (we had a party of 18) and before they would seat us they informed us the "private" room was $100. We had 18 people waiting for a seat so we agreed to pay it. After eating (the food was decent for the most part but my sister's prime rib was too done and my NY Strip was fatty). When I asked for my bill I was told the charge to sit in the dining room was $100 per hour. Then they applied an automatic 25% gratuity to the total bill, so the gratuity on my $80 food bill was $55. Also if you use a credit or debit card they charge the card fee to the consumer so that was another almost $12. None of my family will ever go back to Mullins.

This was the only restaurant open today, so we decided to give it a try. What a mistake it turned out to be. The only positive is the tea tasted great. We were promptly seated and our drink order taken. We received our tea quickly and placed our order. However, we did not see the server again until the food arrived quite a while later. He did not ask if we needed more drink, I had to point it out to him. The "noodle" scampi arrived ice cold, as if it was taken out of the fridge & put in the plate. I had to go find the server and have him take it back. There were only 4 very tiny shrimp in the soupy bowl. The second dish was hot. The bread was a couple slices of loaf bread. There was a lot of garlic in the bottom of the bowl. My dining partner got the taco salad, which was 95% lettuce with very little hamburger or other veggies. What a major dissapointment and waste of money. They did give me a 20% discount.

Our family came to Moorefield, WV from out of state to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. We all stayed at the Mullins Hotel and had the birthday celebration dinner at Mullin's Restaurant. Our meal was served in the private room, for our party of 9, and the waitress was VERY patient with our rowdy group. The reservations were made well in advance, so they were ready for us when we arrived. Everyone in our group agreed that the food was delicious! (Some of them even ordered extra food to go and went back for lunch the next day.) The live music/dancing, that we enjoyed outside after our meal, was awesome! We couldn't have asked for a better 80th birthday celebration for my father.

Stopped for lunch with husband and parents. Great sandwiches- including fish sandwich, pulled pork, BLT, and homemade hamburger. All cooked very well and good hand cut fries and fresh cucumber salad. Also nice selection of beer on draft including local WV breweries. Pleasant and quick service. Have been there before and will definitely go again.

Great food with lots of choices and very prompt service. Lots of items available from the full bar as well as beer and locally brewed cider. It’s all set in a very historic building with lots of ambience. Great for the family or just one person. Many nights there’s live music playing in the studio bar port

My wife and I were traveling on US 48 and stopped for lunch. What a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant in downtown Moorefield. I loved the restored facility and the history. Food was very good. Service very friendly. Will be back when traveling through.

To bad, they do not spend as much time on their food and service as they do on the interior design. They need to hire a chef that takes pride in what they serve. Very nicely decorated, but the food and service detracts from all of that. I will not return

We ate here after being referred by the gentleman giving us our wine tasting at West Whitehill. This place is under I guess a museum or maybe just a historical building? But it definitely has a funky vintage almost speak easy vibe. The staff was courteous and easy going. The food was great and they have a great selection of drinks and food.
