Great music, we were seated in the bar area. super nice server. Good martini. Partner ordered wine and the second glass was supposed to be the same wine but it was not. Salmon was dry and tasteless(ordered blackened) served with steamed broccoli and bite size potato wedges were also tasteless, overcooked, and cold. Meatloaf was good, also served with steamed broccoli and cold, tasteless potato wedged bites. Duck appetizers were hot and delicious. So high marks for the appetizers and drinks but overall disappointed with the main meal. It was a Friday night and not busy.

The Guesthouse is a hidden gem. The food , service and ambience is second to none. My family enjoyed a delicious dinner together. We especially enjoyed the locally sourced ribeye steak. Everything we was top notch and in-line with high quality culinary dishes you get in New York City. Put it on your must do list when visiting Lost River.

Dinner did not disappoint! It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'm still dreaming about the burrata appetizer special. My pork chop was delicious and the mango crème brulee cheesecake was the perfect way to end the meal.

When visiting family in Lost River we always look forward to dining here. This was our third time and it was disappointing. In the past we were always seated in the beautiful dining room. This time in a corner table over a/c vents in the bar. We were cold, uncomfortable and the musical entertainment didn’t help. The food was delicious as always.

How does one begin to describe the meal I just had at the Guesthouse! The veal appetizer was tender and perfectly paired with fig! Followed that with a Caesar salad which was perfectly seasoned! The main course was chicken de Parma!!! There are no words to describe how savory and tender the chicken was, it literally melted in your mouth!! The prosciutto and mushroom cream sauce was a beautiful blend of flavors that highlighted and did not overwhelm the chicken! It was a meal that will not be forgotten! Even though I was totally satisfied, I couldn’t resist dessert! Dessert was a light and creamy cheese cake topped with lemon, blueberry and white chocolate! Divine!!!! A meal at the Guesthouse never disappoints!!

BUT! We have been visiting Lost River regularly since 2003. We have eaten dinner at The Guesthouse numerous times. At least once a year, most often twice. Early on this location had reasonably good food but the last few years it has declined drastically as has the environment. You are greeted by a man who is not hospitable at all. It seems his goal is to make you feel he is doing you a favor to let you eat there. We made an attempt to enjoy this establishment in November, 2018 at the request of our visiting children. This individual actually insulted my 82 year old husband. So the 2 rating is for the beauty, nothing else. This was our last trip!

Our meal was nice and the view from the dining room is beautiful. The service at the restaurant was fantastic. The host and team were friendly, welcoming and cheerful.

Delightful across the board. The bar (and seating area within) has such an awesome vibe. Great cocktails, and super tasty food - there wasn't much we didn't try. Notable: wings, spicy shrimp dip, Sweetheart salad, pork chop, ribeye, chicken di parma, maple creme brulee and omg the cheesecake - I don't know how the country's best cheesecake made its way to West Virginia, but it did.

The food @ the Guesthouse is well prepared and amply presented. Everything from rib eye to heritage pork were delightfully prepared and presented. Accompaniments were appropriate to the meat and well executed. The made in house yeast rolls could be marketed and sold. Some of the best I've ever tasted! Flawless!
Although service on the slow side at times, it remained good service. The host(one of the owners) checked on our table to ensure all was going well-nice touch. All at the table commented on the quality of the food and presentation. A very competent meal with some nice surprises. Worth a detour.

The restaurant is only open on Fri and Sat nights but the food is great. Breakfasts are family style and excellent.

This is an amazing place to visit overall. Most of my time was simply spent walking around the beautiful grounds. The dinner was delicious! I'll definitely go back again.
