Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Honey House Cafe, located on special land in the far North is a pleasure to visit. The scenery is exceptional and the historic buildings, land and environment is a superb break from the business of life.

Gorgeous setting for a casual lunch. Coffee was good, and the pie excellent! We arrived late in the day but the staff were still serving customers and were pleasant.

Very happily surprised at the pricing, quality if good, great service, yummy coffees & iced coffees, surroundings, and retro funky shop in the Stone Store. Kids & adults all had a great time and spent a lot longer than expected. Totally recommend the custard slice,...cheese scones, carrot cake, coffees (hot/iced)…More

We visited this beautiful place twice, it’s in a lovely waterfront location with amazing gardens. The range of cooked on the premises food is excellent and so tasty. They also make a very good coffee. A must visit if you are in Kerikeri

Small cafe that was once an area where a small shelter housed bee hives in the Kemp orchard. They are friendly and serve a nice cup of tea and the scones are excellent. Worth a try

Was going to have tea & cake but saw the egg and bacon pie so had that instead. The pie was perfectly cooked. Partner had coffee and cake. The coffee was meant to be with almond milk but was served with diary. Was replaced with...no fuss. Very friendly service. Only didn't give 5 stars due to error with coffee but that was fixed. Compliments to whoever cooked the pie.More

We had a basic lunch here and enjoyed a sunny sopt inside the cafe. Unfortunately there are anot a lot of seats outside. The food was more than adequate and coffee ok. There was a good range of food which was mainly cabinet food. However,...you can order off the menu. Service was friendly although a little slow which was surorising as not that busy when we were there.More

We visited this week and enjoyed great coffee and excellent food sitting in a beautiful cottage garden overlooking the river. The cheese scones are particularly good.

I wasn’t overly impressed with this cafe as service was a bit slow. The water that was available was far too warm for an extremely hot day. The situation of the cafe is very beautiful.

Gone downhill lately. I live close by and visit here regularly. In my last three visits I have had two instances of having to wait over 15 mins for my coffee. There was none of the usual sense of urgency in the staff. Today even...though the cafe was quiet I decided to order a green smoothie instead. I also ordered a chicken salad wrap. I was brought a toasted wrap ( I hadn’t asked for it to be toasted) that had potato and spinach in it. No sign of chicken or salad. The smoothie also lacked flavour and used to always pack a punch. Not sure if the ownership has changed but my last 3 experiences have been v disappointing.More

We parked across the other side of the river here, and walked over the impressive new pedestrian bridge for lunch at this attractive cafe. It was midweek, and we were able to get a table on the verandah with a view to the flower garden...behind Kemp House and out to the lawn and river in front of the Honey House Cafe building. Lunch here means selecting a cabinet item; what you see is what is available. Some of the sweet options looked especially impressive - like the custard squares and the carrot cake. We went for the last sausage roll (a large, tasty meal in itself) with a side salad , and the bacon and egg pie. The coffee came out in bright, cheerful cups - it could have been hotter, but had a good crema. This is a good option on a “not too busy” day for a meal or coffee before or after a stroll around the gardens and grounds of this historic area.More

Visiting from out of town our friend (Kerikeri local) recommended this place. Unfortunately we walked in the door and the French manageress confronted us and advised they were busy. We asked how long the wait was and she bluntly advised ‘as long as she felt...it was’ Absolutely astounded at her response we departed and we were extremely happy to spend our money at a neighbouring business ‘Plough & Feather’ where they know how to treat their customers! My advise is to head the neighbouring cafe / restaurant where your treated with respect and valued as a customer.More
