Ordered coffees and the waitress didn’t bother to tell us there would be a 20 minute wait - skipped breakfast and went up the road. Terrible customer service.

**The Good:** The Rusty Tractor cafe welcomes you with open arms into a charming storybook world where nostalgia and comfort reign. The inviting decor and vintage farm tools create a cozy ambiance that feels like a warm embrace. The menu offers a delightful array of...comforting dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. **The Bad:** While the Rusty Tractor's rustic theme adds character, a few chairs and tables may bring a touch of whimsy to finding your perfect seat. While the menu leans towards comfort food, a few more options for health-conscious diners could enhance the dining experience. **The Ugly:** Imagine this: you're settling into a chair that adds to the cafe's quirky charm, soaking in the inviting atmosphere. Your dish arrives, and it's a blend of temperatures that creates a playful culinary experience – a little warmth here, a bit of coolness there. And the parking situation? It's like a friendly puzzle that adds a touch of excitement to your visit. The Rusty Tractor's quirks contribute to its undeniable appeal, making it a place that's full of character and surprise.More
Lunch was very average, maybe breakfast will be a better choice but service was loose, and order incorrect. Other tables experienced similar.
As usual, staff were wonderful and food was tasty and fresh. Met up with 2 newish friends, neither had been here before so thought they would like one of my favourites, and they did! Good time had by all of us. Can recommend the mushroom...burger, just so tasty.More
We ordered 3 seafood chowders and 1 cheese scone. You had to pay extra if you wanted butter with your scone and if you wanted it heated it was dry and tasted of baking powder. The chowder wasn't a chowder at all but a bowl...of runny liquid with some seafood on top then a big bun stuck in the middle of it which had soaked up all the liquid. This was the worst meal we have ever had. We had to wait quite a while for this and was too expensive for what it was. Do yourself a favour and do not eat here.More
Went for a lightish meal - burgers and a beer - on our way. Venue looked lovely but ..... Will not be visiting again!
Early lunch to start a busy day, we both had special dish of the day chicken burger and chips, fresh and tasty. Nice pot of tea and hubbie had bucket of cappuccino one of his favourites.
I hade the lunch special, chicken burger. One schnitzel was chicken, the other two pieces undesirable. My partner hade Calamari salad. Salad old and lumpy, calamari unable to eat.
Thanks team for letting us host group breakfast for Kerikeri Newcomers Group we all had lovely time, breakfast was lovely, staff were wonderful. Thank you again.
I had heard so much about this cafe that I had to try. The food was so delicious. Best Lamb shank and fish&chips i have ever had. Highly recommend this place to stop over especially if you have kids as they have a huge section...for kids to play around.More
We came here based on TripAdvisor ratings- we won’t do that again! Service was slow and meals took even longer! Almost 40 mins to receive average food. The seafood chowder was not nice, tough squid rings and mussels with a limited portion and flavour not...great. Served in a strange pastry/bread bowl, in a bowl, just weird. Frozen commercial meat patties on the burger were dry and tasteless. Not what you’d expect for the prices of the meals. We had hoped for so much more! We certainly couldn’t recommend to others.More
Twice I have been here for fish and chips, a very large plateful the first time, fish very greasy, the second time I thought I would get a take away as hubby was busy in the garden, thought I would try the fish and chips...again, well! they were just as greasy, a lot smaller and still costing over forty dollars, what a rip off.More
Yummy brekkie, big portions which suited my hubby well! Lovely, friendly service and actually surprisingly quick even though they warned us there might have been a wait. Definitely recommend!
Nothing better on a very wet day to go here for a beautiful tasty, fresh and hot breakfast. We both had eggs, bacon, tomato and toast, so nice. Only thing I didn't like was friendly staff taking husband's plate away whilst I hadn't finished. Ambience...was excellent, will certainly go back here.More
Always lovely to get served good food in a nice setting. The Greek salad full of fetta, parmesan, tomato and olives is great with toast. The quiche looked like it had meat in it (not good for this veggey) but turned out it was walnuts!...We saw tempura on another plate – next time! Thank you, Sylvie!More
