Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great stop over spot for refreshment, breakfast or lunch. Enjoyed the mango, banana and mixed berry smithy very refreshing in a hot summer day. My partner enjoyed eggs Benedict and gave them the 👍

I love this place because the food is so delicious! It's sometimes slow to arrive, you are warned about that. But it's delightful to sit in the garden and wait. So the slowness does not matter.
The quality of the food does not falter. It's worth waiting for! The fish chowder is fantastic. It arrives resplendent with calamari, fish, prawns and it's served in a delicious fresh bread case. The prawns are also wonderful.

We popped in for lunch during the busy Christmas period and were impressed with the choice and quality of the food. The service was friendly and efficient and it was nice to see chutneys and home for sale as well. Families were enjoying the playground and outdoor area. The tiger prawns were excellent and reasonably priced for the quantity.

Hello Peterman999
Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback.
usually we have more options for chutneys and jam but unfortunately they have been selling well due the charismas period and we haven't had a chance to restock them.
will love to see you again in the future.
Kind regards,
the Rusty Tractor team

Selected the only vegetarian option for lunch on the menu,r eggs on ciabatta with spinach just without the bacon. Staff friendly and pleasant on arrival. Meal really disappointing. Two very small pieces of toasted ciabatta, eggs lovely well cooked but spinach not drained properly and watery so everything soggy!. Ordered mushrooms in place of bacon but served not fresh, tinned in juice - sorry not good enough Rusty Tractor for the price you are charging!

I had a carrot soup which did taste delicious, but my husband had the daily special - mushroom burger. I had originally tried to order this and was told it was gluten free, only to be told afterwards I would have to change my order as the mushrooms are battered. When the burger arrived it was a messy stack, which after picking it up oozed raw egg white all over the plate. The egg was so under that the whole burger was soggy and it was just not nice having so much egg white dripping out.

We ordered 3 seafood chowders and 1 cheese scone. You had to pay extra if you wanted butter with your scone and if you wanted it heated it was dry and tasted of baking powder. The chowder wasn't a chowder at all but a bowl of runny liquid with some seafood on top then a big bun stuck in the middle of it which had soaked up all the liquid. This was the worst meal we have ever had. We had to wait quite a while for this and was too expensive for what it was. Do yourself a favour and do not eat here.

We enjoy coming here because we like the new owner, always welcoming and helpful. And now there's a new staff member from Marseille, interesting to talk to. There's a special ambience here, sit outside, pleasant surroundings, good coffee, salad, service, wine ... Rusty Tractor should be Shining Tractor!

**The Good:** The Rusty Tractor cafe welcomes you with open arms into a charming storybook world where nostalgia and comfort reign. The inviting decor and vintage farm tools create a cozy ambiance that feels like a warm embrace. The menu offers a delightful array of comforting dishes that cater to a variety of tastes.
**The Bad:** While the Rusty Tractor's rustic theme adds character, a few chairs and tables may bring a touch of whimsy to finding your perfect seat. While the menu leans towards comfort food, a few more options for health-conscious diners could enhance the dining experience.
**The Ugly:** Imagine this: you're settling into a chair that adds to the cafe's quirky charm, soaking in the inviting atmosphere. Your dish arrives, and it's a blend of temperatures that creates a playful culinary experience – a little warmth here, a bit of coolness there. And the parking situation? It's like a friendly puzzle that adds a touch of excitement to your visit. The Rusty Tractor's quirks contribute to its undeniable appeal, making it a place that's full of character and surprise.

Don't know why people keep saying "restaurant", suggesting that they expect restaurant food and drink. It's a caff, and a very good one! I had my usual lunch, a great Greek salad, toast and a glass or rosé. We also ordered good looking corn burgers, first time to see them there. We asked if they were veggey, and they were so we bought, very nice indeed. I suggest though making a pouring sauce of the relish, it was difficult to get on to the burger. I look forward to trying the pea burger soon. The potato-leek soup looked great but was very salty. Great place, good prices and service.

We were pleasantly surprised at the caliber of the food and the atmosphere. Hubby had the all day breakfast and I had the steak sandwich. Both were delicious and well proportioned meals. We were served by the owner/operators who were an absolute delight. We would highly recommend and we will be back with family.

A friend chose this cafe when I visited with her in Kerikeri. We were both disappointed with the average food and unable to be served a glass of wine with lunch, as no staff that day had a bar license. An ok atmosphere in small premises.
Would give it a second try, I'm sure it was just as off day.

Always lovely to get served good food in a nice setting. The Greek salad full of fetta, parmesan, tomato and olives is great with toast. The quiche looked like it had meat in it (not good for this veggey) but turned out it was walnuts! We saw tempura on another plate – next time! Thank you, Sylvie!

I hade the lunch special, chicken burger. One schnitzel was chicken, the other two pieces undesirable.
My partner hade Calamari salad. Salad old and lumpy, calamari unable to eat.

Nothing better on a very wet day to go here for a beautiful tasty, fresh and hot breakfast. We both had eggs, bacon, tomato and toast, so nice. Only thing I didn't like was friendly staff taking husband's plate away whilst I hadn't finished. Ambience was excellent, will certainly go back here.
