Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really sweet little cafe. The outside is under a gorgeous vine, so it's leafy and cool, and because it is a little back from the road it's quieter and safer for kids than the main street. The large coffee cup size is very generous!

Stumbled upon this cafe while visiting Kerikeri. Great shady outside location on a hot northland day. All 3 dishes we had were excellent. Best chicken salad I’ve ever had, the dressing was amazing.

I ordered a simple BLT lunch, But unbeknownst to me it came with mayonnaise - which I can’t eat as I am allergic to egg. When I queried / mentioned this, they very kindly remade one for me (without mayonnaise). Fabulous service, and a really...lovely BLT. Couldn’t have asked for better service or food - 5star service.More

Was a totally shocking experience! Never ever have I been a witness to a form of customer abuse as I did this week. The manager told customers off for putting hands near her food cabinet. I saw a very elderly lady with a walking stick...and her daughter abused by the owner/ manager. You could hear her yelling and sceaming right out in the courtyard where we were trying to eat. Manager came running out with spay bottle like some finger prints on her cabinet would ruin everything for her. Potential customers left in shock and disbelief and I doubt they will ever be back again. Even the girl working there looked shocked... crazy behaviour!More

Tucked away down the alleyway you will discover this quaint little cafe. Order out of the cabinet or off the black board menu, sit inside or out and enjoy good food, friendly service and good coffee.

I had a coconut chicken filo roll with a yogurt dip and my partner a pork and apple sausage roll. My filo roll was the most bland, flavorless thing I have ever eaten. It was boiled chicken and nothing, and I mean nothing else. Not...even seasoning. I gave my partner some and her one word response was 'disgusting '! What were they thinking when they put this together? It may have been boiled in coconut water but if so it was not discernible. And the yogurt dip was just that, a small dish of thin yogurt. For $14 it was hugely disappointing. Side salad was nice and my partners sausage roll was nice.More

The cafe randomly closed at 1pm on easter Saturday - what must be one of the potentially busier days on the hospitality calendar. We were told it was because it was someone's birthday...? I cant believe this is true as this seems like a bizarre...business decision in 2021. Accepting that for this reason we could only order counter food and not from the menu, we then had to wait for half an hour for our counter food to arrive. Our pie and sausage roll had turned soggy from being nuked in the microwave. When we queried the time it had taken were we told they were running short staffed and the manager had not bought in supplementary staff. The staff were very nice, and the setting is also nice. Hopefully our experience is just a one off, a result of some unusual business decisions.More

I was a little disappointed as had read some rave reviews. The sponge was large but rather stodgy and the cream was a minimal token gesture. We ended up sitting inside as all the outside tables were full. This was a rather dark corner. Coffee...was reasonable.More

Wherever I go when travelling I look for a good full-English breakfast, described in sundry ways but essentially the same food. Value for money, quality and presentation are all important and I tend to shy away from anything over $22 when it is possible to...get a very good one for under $20. So, what a lovely surprise to find the best full breakfast north of Wellington in the small town of Kerikeri. Well done The Village Cafe — good food, lovely presentation, excellent service and real value for money.More
