Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On holiday from Australia. A great lunch, cooked perfectly (escargot, veges and a dessert and crumbed scallops and pork). Very tasty. With very good estate wines. Give them a go!

Our motel owner highly recommended this place/ winery to us and boy was he correct 👍 From the minute we arrived, what a welcome… we didn’t want a heavy meal and l’d heard about the seafood pizza so I was curious to try it as...on the menu mentioned, octopus, prawns, mussels, cockles, etc it was an extravaganza of seafood and flavour…. The wife who’s Italian went for the 4 cheese pizza she said fantastic just like in Naples… We had 2 of there wines with meal and dessert Affogato… All for $104… If we weren’t on holidays and living in London we’d be regularsMore

A most enjoyable meal. The starters of aroncino and bruschetta were excellent. We shared a prosciutto pizza which was delicious. We couldn't manage a dessert- too full. Service was efficient without being rushed and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful restaurant we chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The flavours of each dish were superb and so was the service. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

We had the most lovely evening at Sovrano. There were 6 of us and we all had different dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious and my pasta with eye fillet was the best pasta dish I have ever had. Great service even though they were short...staffed and busy. We are all locals and we will definitely be back very soon. Thanks Sovrano for a memorable birthday celebrationMore

I had such a great time for my birthday I brought my family back here for a “thank goodness 2023 is over!” lunch! The food was again outstanding and the service was fabulously spot on! We all agreed the portions were generous, the steaks, gnocchi,...pork and all the desserts were delicious! I’m looking forward to my next visit.More

Went to give a second chance. Small expensive meals and that is the talk of the town. Lovely food but you come away hungry. The host is charming and the atmosphere is great but coming away still hungry after a not so cheap meal! We...and most of our friends who are all locals will not be back sorry.More

Three of us dined at this restaurant at very short notice. From the phone call to book and the whole experience (food and service) 10/10. We were blown away with the food - outstanding! So glad this is our "local restaurant" we can't wait to...come back!!!More

Went here for wine tasting but no cellar door was on offer. We decided to have flights to our table and ordered a little something to eat. We had fries and pizza special. Only just enough for 3 people, well over priced for what we...had. Quality was ok but quantity and price was not. Friend and husband had wine tasting but feeling from them the wine was not overall nicer than anywhere else. Staff were friendly and efficient.More

Went to this establishment for wine tasting and lunch on a family holiday and very disappointed. Arrived 130 for lunch and greeted by waitress dismissively saying no room for lunch kitchen backed up. Lunch was advertised till 3pm, there were 15 empty tables and about...8 tables occupied. Asked if could do wine tasting till kitchen clears for lunch . Rudely told not available as too busy and just messenger. Well her message was unnecessarily rude and frustrating. Very disappointing and disrespectful. My advice don’t waste your time for precious pretentious rude people who don’t deserve your patronage.More

This winery restaurant is 10 minutes outside of Kerikeri, which means it should work to compete with the excellent restaurants much closer to town. They’re not there yet. This winery changed names from Ake Ake, so presumably changed hands, too. We ate here a couple...of years ago and it was great. This time, it was a shadow of its former self, and nothing near what you can get in town for the same outlay. Anyway, here’s what we experienced: Estate sparkling Sauvignon blanc: excellent. Why such small, chunky flutes? Scallops: nice, but nothing special. Fillet fettuccini: chewy meat in a mediocre sauce, dominated by rosemary Flight of reds: One of the small tasting pours included a highly oxidized, brown wine. I simply asked the server to smell it and she replaced it immediately with a pour from a newly opened bottle. But you’re a winery… for goodness sake, don’t be stingy with pours and maybe dispense with the dregs or bottles that have been open too long…?! Liquors: they were out of their signature limoncello. Their doormat is six feet wide advertizing the limoncello… and they’re out of it. Tasted the walnut and the liquorish liquors. Not special. Service was kind and polite. Food and wine have a long way to go.More

This restaurant gives Italian food a bad name!! Because it isn’t authentic in the least. Our meals were quite frankly awful & inedible, the pasta was terrible and seafood was not fresh, but frozen. I could go on!!

A fantastic Italian dining experience. The staff here are awesome, so welcoming and genuinely chatty. If you’ve had Napolitan Pizza and want to have it in NZ then this is the spot for you, they have the genuine certified Pizza Oven from Florence! If you’ve...enjoyed Octopus in Puglia and long for that again, I highly recommend the Octopus Salad, certainly a stand out dish. Of course the handmade Tortelloni with tomato and pesto is a taste sensation we couldn’t go past. Finished off with a truly authentic Tiramisu and local made Lemoncello. A truly fantastic meal. Grazie mille. Thanks also to Andrea & Gabrielle for the Pizza making class the next day!More

We’d been to this restaurant several times years ago when it was Ake Ake. We were a family group celebrating a birthday on a weekday evening and were delighted with the whole experience. The restaurant had a busy, friendly vibe. The wait staff were readily...available but not intrusive. A fabulous touch was having the birthday person’s courses delivered by the chef. Seasoned, flavourful and well-presented dishes comes to mind with portion sizes that were just right to generous. We pretty much covered the menu for desserts and we were all delighted! High praise for the Tiramisu and Lemon Sorbetto. If you’ve a larger appetite then go for the calzone dessert - you won’t regret it! If you haven’t been to this fab eatery yet, don’t hesitate!More
