During the last night of the Winter Festival and with a plethora of disposable cups around town and few places actually offering re-usable alternatives, the wonderful team kindly took pity on me and made me a coffee in a ceramic cup! It was a super...busy night and I could have understood if they weren’t in a position to, but they were only too willing to oblige. Couldn’t have asked for a better brew either! You’ve created a regular with your kindness.More

After working almost an hour for our food yesterday on Anzac day, I was served the most tasteless chicken pie that I have ever had. It was supposed to be a chicken pie with some added herbs. But what l tasted was so bland... no...amount of salt and pepper couldn't enhance the flavours anymore!! Not only that, it was $20....... terribly expensive for a tasteless pie!! The food definitely looked much better than it tasted. It was also served with some mashed potato and green peas. The tasteless green peas felt like it boiled for yonks!! Only the mashed Potato had some flavour to it My two friends however did enjoy their $22 medium sized bowls of seafood chowder. The deli's had a nice comfortable sunny surroundings..... hence a two star rating!!More

Stopped in for brunch with husband and baby. We ordered the “Healthy breakfast” described as poached eggs with smashed avocado and feta with grilled lemon - was presented with untoasted bread topped with some kind of gloopy obviously processed or frozen avocado (tasted like chemicals),...no sign of any feta and the “grilled lemon” was raw and hard. What I ate of it was honestly disgusting- how they can serve this meal for the $20 price tag is beyond me - I felt quite misled. No staff around to complain to and nobody asked how the food was. Will definitely not visit again it was a major ripoff! Side note - I am generally not a complainer and can only recall ever being compelled to write reviews a couple of times my whole life - this was BAD!More

Stopped here for a late lunch and received good friendly service. Partner had a beef pie and coffee and a slice and I had an iced chocolate and piece of cake. Unfortunately the pie was mainly gravy with two small pieces of meat and lots...of pastry! My piece of cake was a bit tasteless, however the drinks were good. It was in nice setting with outside dining available.More

Dropped in after a long day in the Tararuas. Kitchen was closed (as were most other Greytown cafes). There was a very limited vegetarian selection, so we went for two cheese and onion toasties and a chickpea salad. The toasties turned up lonely on the...plate - no relish, garnish or anything. But they were quite edible. The chickpea salad was *terrible* - the chickpeas had either been half-cooked and then fried, or they had been left out for days to dry. They were tough as old boots. How can you get chickpeas wrong?More

Its the highly processed puree that tastes very average. The owners attitude sucks when you raise it too. no refund & no alternative offered.

Stopped in with hungry teenagers on the way through the wairarapa again . One seafood chowder two healthy brekkies and an eggs Benny. The healthy brekkies were lovely. Poached eggs were perfect and avo feta combo was tasty and plentiful .As usual the eggs benny...and seafood chowder didn’t fail to impress especially as they went out of their way to accommodate me with the best chowder I’ve had even though it was still the breakfast menu time. A regular stop for us in greytown for great coffee lovely outdoor courtyard area and helpful staff.More

On a hot day it was very pleasant sitting outdoors and eating lunch in the rear courtyard. It’s not clear in the cafe that this area is here, as it is through another room and in the rear. But it is a lovely spot for...lunch. Food was great, service was a little slow, but food and drinks were good.More
