Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staying across the street we decided to go to The French Baker for breakfast.
I had scrambled eggs with bacon on ciabatta and my wife had salmon instead of bacon, both meals were delicious, coffee and the pot of tea were also good.
Totally agree with other reviews this place is pretty good, evident by a very steady stream of customers.
Nice job TFB, we will be back.

Great stop for a coffee and lunch. We were in Greytown for the weekend and was keen to immerse ourselves into the local cafe scene. This was one of the busiest cafe/bakery around and with seats outside, perfect for taking our Dog. Food was excellent, atmosphere casual and service friendly and attentive. A great place to have a wee taste of France.

Delicious pastries and rolls. We stopped by for lunch here and tried an assortment of pies, rolls and sweet treats like their beef bourbignon pie, lamb sausage roll, almond croissant and their pear almond tart. All yum and authentically delicious. Nice ambiance and good service.

We were in Greytown to enjoy and spend up at the Festival of Christmas but was totally shocked at the rude service I received here. Popped in early for a loaf of bread on Sunday morning - tried to make conversation with the "gentleman" serving which was met with monosyllables and zero friendliness. Wow, really?? Too early for you to make a customer feel valued perhaps? Maybe stay in bed then. Clareville bakery is only 5 mins up the road remember...

We stopped here for a quick lunch dn route to Wellington. I had the most amazing tomato soup I have ever tasted - big portion and so so good. Came with garlic bread. Bacon sandwich and latte were also very good - partners choice. Tables on the street as well as inside. Fast service.

Funny how things creep up on you and become a comfortable ritual and habit. By far my favourite Greytown venue, the food selection is modest but excellent. The coffee very good. We’re lucky to have Rusty and his business. It’s the sort of small town business that knits you into belonging. It’s a high street cafe with an easy pulse.

Food was hit and miss. My brioche was fabulous, the salmon average. My friend had an eclair which was stale pastry, and ham and cheese croissant which ok. Coffee was fine. Not the friendliest staff but not rude. Overall experience pretty average.

We stopped buy for picnic food. The salmon quiche was perfect, as was the filled roll. We also bought pastries and the pear tart - divine. Great value and super efficient as it is very popular.

After a morning of strolling the shops its was great to pop in for a delicious coffee and a ham salad roll.
Food was fresh and well presented, the ham salad roll a decent portion, simple but fresh and the Dijon mustard was a good match.
The coffee, you can’t go wrong with allpress beans.
All up was around $15 very decent prices.

Hands down the best almond croissant I have ever tasted, Rich subtle caramel flavoured frangipane, crisp buttery croissant, doused in almonds and powdered sugar that crystallises with the heat. Absolutely sublime with their Allpress coffee!

The French Baker is fantastic. I’ve been going there for years, mainly for the coffee but also for the atmosphere. Terrific staff, brilliant location and a huge asset for Greytown.

This is a great bakery and has good range of bakery goods both bread and patisserie.
Its always been a must visit if we are in town. On a recent visit, they appeared to be short staffed as the tables were not being cleared and crumbs were left/tables unwiped. The friendly trusty rusty was busy on the till (multitasking serving customers and taking orders as well as providing what service he could. Miss Sad was concentrating on churning out the coffee's. I counted at least 2 -3 young men coming out from the back to replenish supplies for the shelves, warmer oven, cutlery, water glasses, serve meals from the kitchen etc.
At one point I asked one of these fellas to clear a and wipe the table (NOBODY likes to eat on top of somebody else's detritus!. He managed to clear one table but did not return to wipe any table and left dishes at the next table. I figured they were really busy in the kitchen but they either need to employ more efficient staff or limit customers as the environment was becoming unhealthy with the uncleared tables and chunky crumbs on the floor.
