Sunday 21 March and I was staying in Martinborough 2N as a solo traveller; my Airbnb host suggested I catch a movie & have dinner. “Great idea” I thought so off I went to Circus Cinema Restaurant Bar. Excellent food but what a snarly, cold,...snobby front-of-house woman and my foreign waitress also had an attitude. I felt extremely uncomfortable, as though they didn’t want me there, and will never go back for a meal.More

We took in a movie and dinner before hand. First off, this place has great ambience. We had two starters (calamari and deep fried chicken with wasabi mayo. Both were excellent and the only suggestion was maybe provide a small bowl of the mayo -...it was delicious on top of the chicken but not enough of it. We had the Drover pizza and we both agreed it was the best pizza have had in long time. Service was excellentMore

Food and waiting staff very good but the Maitre D has an attitude! We were kept waiting for a table although semi empty and were declined a table by the window although no one came to sit there. Perhaps she didn’t like how we looked....To save my family’s embarrassment we stayed, and the meal and wine were great, but won’t be visiting again.More

A reservation at another restaurant was cancelled by them at the last minute so we went to Circus. Very glad we did. The food was lovely, ther service excellent and a very pleasant venut

I barely ever leave reviews, but after waiting in traffic (accident via Remutakas) for a few hours, we were rewarded with a 1/2 1/2 pulled Lamb, Tzatziki and Red Onion jam + Salami, Blue cheese & Pear Pizza, a lovely Chicken and Mushroom Fettuccine &...a crispy Salmon fillet with Asian greens!! This was followed up by a light, fluffy Chocolate Mousse, balanced with a berry sauce. You cannot go wrong with wine, when in wine country, and the dry Rosé did not disappoint. We were recommended Circus and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The host gave us a very warm welcome and showed us to our table. We ordered the seafood chowder and the salmon and these two dishes...did not disappoint us at all. The freshly made chowder was so hearty and delicious and the salmon was also super tasty and perfectly cooked. We ended up sharing them as we couldn’t choose between them. As we were about to finish our meal, our lovely server advised us that the movie we had tickets for was about to start so she suggested an ice cream and a coffee to enjoy while the movie was on. And what a fantastic idea that was! It literally felt like we were in our living room at home. The seats are spacious and very comfortable and the movie theatre has a very cozy atmosphere. Will highly recommend and definitely be back! Fantastic service and food! Great place to visit with your partner, friend or another couple.More

We went to see a movie at the theatre and had a great time. We were able to take our wine into watch the movie and then after the movie had dinner at the attached restaurant. As we weren't that hungry, we shared a pizza...which was amazing. It had blue cheese, pear, and salami and was very tasty. Super friendly and helpful staff and well worth a visit.More

Great to have this cinema and restaurant as an alternative option to to wineries in Martinborough. It was pretty full on a Monday evening. We enjoyed ourselves here with an early meal followed by the cinema. Staff were friendly, food options covered our dietary requirements...(vegetarian). Whilst the food was good (our choices were pizza and Tom Yum soup) I did think it was a bit pricey. There was an issue with our desserts not arriving in time for the film, easily resolved by bringing them in during the film!More

Hubby had scotch fillet with artichoke purée,cauliflower,honey roasted vege & I had Tom Yum hot pot with king prawns,white fish,fresh Thai herbs & rice noodles. Very tasty meals.

Fab dinner at the circus restaurant. Food was extremely well presented and tasty. Atmosphere and service was great as were the wines. Log fire burning to keep everyone warm! It seemed that many people came in just for the food, which is a great endorsement...of the restaurant. But we opted to stay for a movie which makes for an easy night out, removing the need to change locations!More

What a lovely surprise. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a cold wet week night and checked Trip Advisor. The great reviews tempted us but we were a little hesitant as it appeared to be in the foyer of the local cinema. Driving...up to the front it looked like a very inviting restaurant rather than a cinema. We were warmly greeted and taken to a table for two near the real log fire. The ambiance and decor are modern tastefully furnished and lit and the food was excellent. I had one of the best steaks I have eaten in a very long time with a beautifully cooked selection of roast vegetables. My wifes Tom Yum soup was superb. The service was great. Can't fault a thing. Well done, this place is a credit to the owners and the staff.More

Could not fault the setting, atmosphere or food presentation, size and taste. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a wood fire burning to keep everyone warm. Our meals were beautifully presented and tasted just as good. Definitely go there if in Martinborough.
