Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lemonthyne is an expensive retreat to stay in and if all meals are purchased at the only restaurant on site, the cost escalates. We purchased one dinner and one breakfast. Limited menu and not cheap. The restaurant is spacious, log-cabin style. The staff are young adults. Very pleasant and helpful. The coffee machine was broken when we stayed so a decent coffee was not possible. We took advice from other Tripadvisors and took fruit and snacks and we are glad we did. Whispering Woods only offers breakfast and dinner and bookings are essential.

Good options are limited and don’t change at all, only open for dinner and breakfast but ONLY if you book a time to eat. No walk ins. No lunch available unless you order the day before (how could you do this if you didn’t check in til 6pm?)
Restaurant is noisy, staff were polite but avoided us due to hotel issues - tables around us had ordered, eaten, been cleared and then received dessert before our waitress cleared our table and offered dessert. Was a 2.5 hour meal for main and dessert!
Desert was burnt and not edible.

Not many places available for dinner in this area. We were lucky to almost stumble across Whispering Woods by accident. The room is beautiful, almost like a lovely wooden barn with a lovely fireplace. Service was great and our meal was delicious.

Excellent service and good food. The log cabin atmosphere was lovely and both the lamb shoulder and salmon was amazing.
If you stay for the 8pm animal feeding you’ll get to see possums and pademelons.

The dining experience was pleasant, as was the food. Staff were excellent.
Service was great and the ambiance made it. Open fires, dim lights and great wines.

Our table was in front of the doors and with temperatures if between 1 and 8 degrees Celsius coupled with the draft, we had to put jackets (and, almost, beanies) on. We eventually got shifted to a slightly warmer table.
A reasonable menu, with daily specials and a fair wine list, with prices starting at approximately AU$36 A bottle

Great accommodation. Well priced
Food disappointing homestyle cooking. Good but should have been more up market for the price.

It was a fantastic stay! A weekend getaway to the nature and we found a fair accommodation that only 20 mins drive way from Cradle Mountain! The peaceful vibe there can easily refresh my mind up. The lodge itself has some tracks and wild animals feeding part which was impressive. The room was sparkling clean and the balcony was pretty spacious to chill. The staff were really friendly and always willing to help to sort something out. The food there was nice especially when you were down into the nature. I would give this place 10.1 points out of 10:)

My partner and I throughly enjoy the stay at lemonthyme, the walking trails around the property is absolutely beautiful, and unique. Lemonthyme have their own walking trails. Waterfall is amazing and beautiful. Good job! Lemonthyme! We will be back!

Very nice location and accomodation is clean and staff are quite friendly.
Food however was quite mediocre, had to send back steak several times, seafood was cold and creme brulee was not set, Christmas pudding was like a rock.
Also no kitchen facilities and two bedrooms are not self contained

The poor staff that work here front of house is all I can say. The service was friendly and attentive, they were doing that absolute best, but the food was just awful.
I had to send my steak back 3 times, and my partner didn't even eat the bland, flavorless risotto. This was my birthday dinner, I had booked a local restaurant but decided we should just eat in house, boy o boy I regret that.
I would say, honestly food wise, probably one of the worst experiences of my life, and I eat out a lot. PS: do not order the pepper sauce, there is no pepper in it, I think it was onion or something?

The 2 staff members where running around looking very stressed, food was very mediocre for the price you pay. Unfortunately there is no other choice as it is so out of the way and about 30min for Cradle Mountain.

Lemonthyme Wilderness Retreat as a location is fantastic, the log cabins are relaxed and typical of what you would expect in this beautiful area of Australia. Crackling fires in winter, amazing bird life and wildlife. The rooms need updating - however of a reasonable standard.
The staff are welcoming, hardworking and warm. However, I will warn travellers that this is no longer a Australian owned establishment (despite stating it is in the room guide). It's owned by Chinese investors- this in itself is not a indictment on the location or staff. More so you UNDERSTAND management will give preference to Chinese tourists (ie room allocation). If your a Chinese tourist great - however if your not Chinese the understand this practice will become apparent.
The restaurant is limited and very expensive. Please note the 2 bedroom cabins are not entirely self contained. The stovetop facilities are purposefully removed.
However, it's a impressive location and perfect for little ones.
