Lots of food, very fresh and hot, friendly staff

This restaurant and bar is a great place for lunch and we're looking for a time to sample the bar at cocktail time and to have dinner here. We are moving to the area and have had lunch here several times over the last few months. They serve a goodly portion of food for a reasonable price and you can tell it was all prepared and cooked fresh to your order. The staff is friendly and attentive. This isn't a fancy place and there isn't any pretension. Just a great place to stop for a very good meal.

My new favorite burger

This restaurant always seems to run hot and cold, not sure if it's the staffing or what. Currently, it's good, I particularly like the Farmhouse burger, complete with fried egg (only other egg topped burger I've ever had was at Jerome Bettis' restaurant in Pittsburgh). In the past I've always recommended the ribs, but haven't tried them since I've returned.

As noted in prior reviews, I meet monthly for a "sibling" dinner, usually on a Monday evening. I increased this rating from the good I gave in a September review to very good based on the most recent visit. Two of our group usually have the chicken bruschetta. They were pleased to report that the most recent meal was one of the best, if not the best chicken they have had here! Nice and tender. I have switched to the 1/3 rack and have been very pleased. The house salad is a nice size and a good mix of greens. The serving of fries is always generous. Service has been excellent in recent visits andd that always makes for a better overall experience. Since I like to be positive when possible, it has been nice to experience an uptick in quality. Let's hope that our March visit will be as good or even better!

Clear-water, Muddy Service/Food

Unfortunate visit for Father’s Day. My wife came across their website of a flyer for a Father’s Day Brunch Buffet and called to make reservations/get on the list, to find out after arriving the flyer was for a June 19th 2016 Father’s Day. (2016 not mentioned within the flyer.) We decided to still have brunch. We weren’t greeted for a few minutes after arriving, despite not being that busy. A girl finally acknowledged us, grabbed a few menus and sat us down. Our server was initially friendly, however, after placing our order goes into the bad… Food took almost an hour to arrive, which was a waffle, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and a regular breakfast mix. During that time, our server didn’t visit for refills, to check on us, or to provide an update on our food status. She seemed to avoid us by checking on the table next to us and then passing over us (We were obviously growing impatient), and she disappeared for a period before our food arrived. Once our food arrived, it looked good initially. We were missing at least one side. My eggs came out undercooked/runny (ordered over medium). Waffle was cool to the touch. The French toast was basic and not noteworthy. The biscuits and gravy, which came in a bowl of gravy with the biscuits buried, didn’t appear fresh (at least overcooked?), and the hashbrown casserole had a sour taste (maybe the cheese they use?). She did ask if everything was ok shortly after dropping off the items, which we didn’t recognize several issues until after. While we didn’t visually finish several of our items, she dropped off the check. I wasn’t wanting to wait for new or replaced items, and she was less than accommodating. However, I noticed on our bill we were missing two other items that came with our meals. We paid, tipped, and left. Overall, I can’t recommend. Regardless of there not being a buffet, the brunch menu was disappointing, the service was lacking, and the food was sub-par for even basic breakfast items. Maybe lunch and dinner are better options for this restaurant, but hopefully the service is better later in the day.

Went for breakfast on New Years day. Haven't been to CWG in a few years and was surprised that the interior is quite pleasant and the service very good. We had basic breakfast, two eggs sausage and hash browns. Started out with coffee which was okay but strangely enough no toast with the breakfast. I did get toast after a special request, no problem. All 'n all the breakfast was nothing special and the hash browns were cold but edible. The bill came and listed two coffees at $3.50 a piece or $7.00. So, basic breakfast for two $27.00 plus tip. Too much for nothing special and cold hash browns. Thanks but no thanks.

We were seated as soon as we got here. Very clean. As soon as we were seated, our waiter came by and asked if we might want an appetizer or drinks. We gave our drink order and he said he would be back to take our order. He gave us enough time to go through the menu. Once we ordered, the soups and salads came within 10 minutes. Broccoli Cheese soup was homemade. Delicious. Three of us had the Ribeye steaks, cooked properly. Mine was blackened, very flavorful. The others had grilled and theirs looked amazing. My wife had sirloin and a shrimp skewer. She loved it. Our server was amazing. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very down to earth place to go.

Excellent Caterer!

ClearWater Fire-Grill Catered my son's wedding. All I can say is amazing! The wedding reception was at Clore Brother's on the River, about 20-30 minute drive from the restaurant, with no cooking facilities on site. The food was hot and wonderful. So many of our guest commented how it was the best banquet food the have ever had. The staff went above and beyond our expectations! My daughter just got engaged and we will definitely be booking them again! :)

The place had a bad smell and was not clean. The waiter was terrible my wife and I are not big eaters so we ordered the 2 choice dinner. We told the waiter we would share. He brought the salad and we had to ask for an extra plate. When he brought the main course we again had to ask for an extra plate. The baked potato was cold and hard the pulled pork also barley warm.

Very disappointed visit

I am new in the Fredericksburg area, as I was driving route 3 I noticed your restaurant. I am from Md. restaurateur and as I did my first visit I was completely satisfied, specially about your Thursday"s ribs special. We came back couple of weeks after and my experience was not as good as the first one, however we came back a third time December 7th but this time was completely the opposite. Nobody at the door, shady service, but the food this time horrible. Ribs so cold, my wife did not mind but when we got home she was sick. MY ribs I sent them back, but literally it took two minutes and my ribs were back and still cold. i was so disappointed and frustrated that at this point probably won't come back. Just a note, to maintain patrons coming back your food is the gold mine, but consistent. great food can pass bad service, but bad food does kill your business.

Decent Choice For Out In The Countryside

While visiting DC for a work conference for three weeks, I managed to get away for the weekend to visit my brother in Locus Grove where he and his wife bought a home in Lake of the Woods. In doing so, I knew I would be trying a new restaurant or two. On Friday night, we stopped into the ear Water Fire Grill for dinner. Whe it was not crowded, there was a 30 minute wait. I came to earn it was due to the restaurant being under staffed, which is apparently common the in the US now. I live overseas in Germany. Regardless, we finally got seated and had a charming waitress. We each had decent meals and were overall impressed. This was their first visit too. My sister-in-law ordered the chicken dish with mashed potatoes and green beans. My brother got the prime rib served with shrimp and green beans. I ordered the blackened Mahi and blackened shrimp with green beans and tater tots. All of us enjoyed our meals. I also ordered a glass of house white wine. I would definitely come back here, but first I must try other places in town.

Seriously Good Catering Option

Held a party and used the restaurant for the food. From scratch dressings and sauces...so very tasty. Pulled pork, Reuben egg rolls (a first for me), and pulled pork (smoked on site)...delicious! Helpful staff in planning the event. Will definitely be a go-to spot again!

We have a monthly "sibling dinner" here and find Clearwater a good choice. We have almost always had great service and enjoyed our servers. The food is good and usually arrives in a reasonable time. I did not like the fires until someone suggested I ask for "crispy" fires. Since then, I enjoy them! The crab cakes are not the great ones you get in a "seafood" location but are good for this area. The burgers are always a good choice. Their new sign looks great!

My wife and I ate lunch here on April 29, 2023. Logan took great care of us. Our salad, Edna’s pork chops, whipped brandied sweet potatoes, applesauce, and triple chocolate cheesecake were delicious.

Amazing food, they need to work on their tea

We moved here a few months ago, we are a retired couple so we eat out quite often. Clearwater is our #1 choice and until recently I couldn't have said a single negative word. But they changed how they make their sweet tea, which was perfection. For this southern girl, they need to fix the tea. I want to give 5 stars because the food is spectacular but the tea is part of what draws me there and they are pushing me away. There's another place up the street with wonderful tea but the food is not nearly as good. FIX YOUR TEA. I typically don't enjoy soda, but I might have to. (No I won't add sugar because it doesn't dissolve in cold tea). I want to give 5 stars and I hope you will fix this and go back to perfect tea. thanks
