Hadn’t been here in over 15 years. Just as good as I remembered! Everything perfect! Bill was excellent waiter. Expensive but worth it for a very special occasion!

My wife and I had been twice before to Chez Francois but not for a very long time - pre kids! Last night's evening at the restaurant was just as memorable as the two other visits. For "fine" dining, Chez Francois, in my opinion, is...the best value for money in the DMV - to include the Inn @LW. As always the service was attentative without being stuffy. At least three times we were wished a "Happy Anniversary". The food, as always, was outstanding. I had the asparagus and ham for an appetizer and my wife had 3 types of salmon (Trio de Saumons) - all shaped into a fish on her plate. Both were excellent. The house salad was one of the best house salads we've had and the main courses were even better - Maine lobster paired with crabmeat for my wife and the twin beet tenderloins for myself with the famous bearnaise sauce and some perfectly done potatoes and veg to accompany. The only disappointment was the meringue w/kirsch that my wife ordered for dessert though I thoroughly enjoyed my cheesecake and we both split a delicious free dessert (chocolate meringue) from the house to celebrate our anniverary. And in between those dishes, we also enjoyed the bread opener, lemon sorbet, and the chocolate truffles to close. Thanks LAuberge Chez Francois for another fine dining experience!More

We have been dining here for special occasions for decades. The rural setting and beautiful dining rooms provide a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Service by all staff members is impeccable. Everything from the specialty cocktails to the entrees to the desserts is perfectly prepared, well-presented...and absolutely delicious. This is not the hippest place in town, nor will you find modernist molecular gastronomy in a loud industrial setting - but what you will find is consistently amazing Country French fare in a warm, inviting environment. We will most definitely return again!More

This place is magical. No matter when I eat here, I’m always pleasantly surprised by the food, chef, servers, or sommelier. Our group decided to visit L’Auberge before Thanksgiving dinner. We had the most wonderful time. The sommelier helped us to pick out excellent wines...and champagnes which was so much fun. And the lobster that I had was amazing. The sauce served with it was fantastic. The wagu beef was also amazing. And the soufflés are always special. Thank you for such a special evening.More

I am rating this restaurant a “4” more for its very warm and charming atmosphere and good service than for the quality of its cuisine, which was a “3” level average, and a disappointment, especially for the price. It is very expensive, easily $300 or...more for two people and for that price I had an appetizer of beans with two pepperoni sized slices of sausage and one scallop, a very small lobster( the plate was mostly covered by it’s empty tail shell) and a tablespoon of crab meat. For dessert my Creme brûlée was too undercooked so I didn’t eat it. My husband fared better with his orders. We both loved the quality of the Roquefort salad but the supposed pears were just two thin slices , barely the size of a tablespoon. Note also that the meals are only offered as multi-course prix fixe, and many of the dishes have “up”charges. The wine list, while excellent, is also highly marked up. We had visited maybe twenty years earlier and I had remembered it as being a much finer dining experience, and not as expensive. I might return and try different dishes because it is such a lovely setting.More

Many years ago this restaurant had a menu that varied and reflected true seasonal French food. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. The service once attentive is now lackadaisical. No one checks on the tables and I had to wave down a staff member...to get my wine glass refilled. The feeling that was once of a country side restaurant in France is now more of a country side location mass producing what the locals want to eat. All this come with a hefty price tag. As much as I used to look forward to eating at Chez Francois, I won’t return and wouldn’t recommend it.More

We had a pretty appalling gastro experience. No complaints whatsoever on service but the food was very disappointing. All the entrees at the table were the beef varieties and the quality of meat and the preparation was distinctly below even average. This is not a...restaurant I will ever go to again nor one I will recommend to any friends. Sorry to say. We were so looking forward to it.More

We went there to celebrate the birthday of my wife. Mr. Jacques himself came by to welcome us after we were seated. I must admit that I respected this gesture, and that it is not custom in the American dining environments. The food was delicious,...the drinks, Mon Dieu! Sandra, our attendant, was so respectful, so sweet; she made us feel so welcome, so celebrated. The setting is excellent, moderate noise level that SHOULD come with every restaurants because some patrons (like myself), do not like loud music while dining. Overall, the food, the staff, the place itself, were EXCELLENT! I cannot wait to return!More

We made our first venture out after many months and it was wonderful! We dined outside on a beautiful evening. We ordered from the al la carte menu, which, in retrospect, was a mistake. I say that only because this was to be a real...treat, and we missed the full experience of the fixed price menu. We did it because of the amount of food--cost was not an issue. We both got the house salad. My wife got the veal scaloppini and I had the tournedos. Both cooked t perfection She had glasses of chardonnay, I glasses of cabernet. We took home the Dark Valrhona chocolate tart, without ice cream. The entire meal was fabulous, nicely paced with attentive but not obtrusive service. A great way to start to come out of our shell after the worst of the pandemic!More
