The owners and hosts at this lovely restaurant have a real knack in making their customers feel right at home. They are friendly and stop by tables throughout the evening to make sure you are getting excellent service and to make sure your food is perfect. The cozy front of the restaurant has a few tables with comfortable chairs and low tables for enjoying a few drinks with a cheese plate or an appetizer. We have had the shrimp risotto, chicken cilantro, the short ribs and the baby back ribs...all were excellent! We enjoyed a honeycrisp apple salad, and for dessert we have had the key lime cheesecake, flan and a special brownie treat. You cannot go wrong with the food and the charming hosts. If you go once I am sure you will return.

Dinner on 7/8/21. First, the atmosphere is so welcoming and comfortable. The food is very unique and the owner is very personable and fun to talk with. He gave us the history of the building formerly owned by a longtime area family and his plan to offer coffees, pastries, etc in the upper level at some point. The chicken alfredo lasagna was very different from the usual lasagna and it was delicious! The meat lasagna looked great, but I only tasted the sauce and it was very good. The Winter Salad was very good. The boneless ribs and mashed potatoes were good, but not as good as the lasagnas. Larger portions would be nice, but they are a typical portion and priced accordingly. We did not have wine or dessert. Although we live 2.5 hours north, we might come back just for a meal, so for those closer you should definitely drive just for the delicious food.

First time we visited this restaurant and we really enjoyed ourselves! Basye needed to have more options, so we were very pleased to visit this place.
It might be a little pricey, or it was only the drinks, but it was ok for visiting it for the first time.
The food is homemade and it is very good.
The only problem is that they only open during the weekends so you have to make reservations.

Last Sunday evening, a friend and dined at the R House Wine Cafe in Basye VA. We were greeted by the owners and staff as we entered, like we were family. From there were given an overview of the menu items and wines from VA and around the world. We decided on a Cab from Chile along with warm olives, a caprese salad and short ribs. Everything was delicious and the key lime cheesecake dessert was out of this world. The owners and the server are friendly and professional and passionate about their restaurant. I highly recommend R House and cannot wait to return there

The best food in Basye, Va. Juan has put together a great beer and wine menu while his wife Gisella runs the kitchen. We love the friendly atmosphere - you feel like you are dining with Family. Reservations are required so the small staff can provide the best quality service and fresh food. Do yourself a favor and make one!

Juan, the owner, personally greeted and waited the tables. The food was excellent! We shared an apple salad, sautéed mushrooms, short ribs and the caramel flan with a lovely Spanish wine. Delicious and very reasonable.

This is the best place to eat when in Bryce. The food is freshly made. Being a foodie I know they use fresh, good quality ingredients. And the results show- the food is awesome. The service is as awesome as the food! Definitely recommend! And will come back next time we are in the area.

We chose R House to celebrate our 50th anniversary. It is a small (seat 26 max), seasonal (opened Aug. 10), but obviously hidden gem with the locals as everyone seated after us seemed to know each other. We booked online for a 4:30 seating & choices were 3:30-7:30 every 30 minutes. It is in a white house, and both husband & wife (she's a GREAT cook) meet you at the door & thank you for joining them. It is very personal & charming & comfortable. We started with a frozen (slushy) sangria & mushroom fontina. This was essentially a delicious fondue...plenty to share for two or more. Husband had seafood paella & I had shrimp risotto...both were beyond delicious! (Only one other dinner choice was available & they change it up each day.) We finished with a brownie/vanilla ice cream dessert...nicely presented with a candle & two spoons. By the time we left, a group of 10 was seated & as well as another 4-some. A couple was waiting in the bar area for friends. As we walked out, we remarked to an entering couple how much they would enjoy it and they said they already knew! Go on Facebook and check it out...lots of pics and other reviews.
