We had the Cullen Skink and the Stornoway black pudding, crispy pork belly for starters. Both were excellent, top notch and a great way to start the meal.
That was followed by the seafood linguine and the lamb both of which were again excellent. The lamb was beautifully cooked, moist and tender, falling apart in the mouth. The veg was cooked well with a good bite to the broccoli but not undercooked in anyway.
The desert was a shared light and dark chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sorbet. The cheesecake was gorgeous and you could taste, feel the fruit in the sorbet which was bright red and had a great zingy raspberry flavour.
It is not cheap to eat there but having paid more elsewhere this was definitely better and we would happily pay to dine there again but it is not somewhere we could afford to dine every evening unfortunately.

This country inn has an unusual feel about it , not restaurant not pub , it has lots of rooms & snugs all in a tasteful Scottish decor .
The menu & food was really excellent and they managed to cope incredibly well with a power cut in the middle of our meal . Never had such delicious scallops all a decent size too so price tag definitely worth it .
The welcome on arrival wasn’t exactly what you would call a ‘welcome ‘ as the man at the bar took his time to acknowledge us which was disappointing, otherwise a very enjoyable evening and can recommend .

We visited for their Sunday roast lunch, and all 4 adults in the group went for the roast beef which came with the usual trimmings. We also had some mussels to start and tried out a few of their desserts afterwards. The food was excellent. Everything was enjoyable, but the roast beef itself was the highlight - as it should be! They did have a kids menu as well, for our little ones.
For our group of 4 adults and 4 young kids, our bill came to £170 including tip, of which £20 was spent on drinks. A very indulgent, enjoyable meal, and one of the favourites from our trip.

We visited Edinbane Inn on our first trip to Skye. Skye is fabulous we loved it but do not eat here.
We booked in advance for 18.45 and were told our table was needed at 20.30 we left at 20.00 the restaurant was almost empty which was not surprising our taxi from Portree was £70 taxi driver was charming and friendly.
My wife had the black pudding starter which was average apart from the rogue french fry which she found in the dish. I had the so called" Hebridean" mussels which were no better than those sold cooked in white wine sauce at Aldi! Aldi and Edinbane must use an identical recipe??
I chose shoulder of lamb for my main my wife asked for the chicken supreme with chips instead of the creamy mash potatoes. The chicken supreme was two pieces of overcooked dry chicken on chips swimming in a thin milky sauce my wife couldn't face it we swapped dishes although she doesn't like lamb she thought it would be more palatable.
The lamb was grey , dry and so overcooked it was tasteless the carrots were mushy and the brocolli was yellow on top and should have been thrown out.
I discovered parsnip with the chips but it was difficult to detect any difference between that and the potato!!
I complained it the strongest but most constructive manner to the head waitress who was most apologetic .
If the very limited cafe style menu had been highlighted in the website we would not have gone.
In total our meal including taxi was £146.00 a staggering amount for terrible cafe style food.

Well a very particular menu with little to no choice.
Partner struggled to pick anything from starter choices- resorted to the black pudding without any of the over complicated additions- he was then literally served 2 slices of black pudding and charged the full £8.50. That’s a whopping £4.25 a slice. He then ordered the fish and chips- which we wrongly thought he couldn’t go wrong with... well we thought wrong. As he began to taste it he realised it wasn’t great, in fact it can only be described as pure mush he could barely pick it up. Majority was left.
My Cullen Skink soup and venison burger was nice.
Overall the staff and actual restaurant is lovely. The menu drags this place down badly! It definitely must put potential customers off before they’ve even set foot in the door which is a real shame as it’s got great potential.
The menu would benefit from a complete revamp. Homely dishes could be added and done well. What’s so bad with Haggis Bon Bon’s, Patè, Crumb Coated Chicken and for mains good old fashioned Macaroni, Steak Pie, Chicken Ballotine or a roast dinner.

Firstly the recent reviews. If you want Chicken and chips, go to KFC. Mussels are delicious and served with home made bread. If that is what Aldi sell then I’ll start shopping there. Menu is limited because kitchen staff numbers are reduced. Tables are reallocated and place is only half full because of limitations on numbers and social distancing. Walking into a place that does meals without a reservation is a thing of the past.
Now my review :-
Are there two separate nights, different choices each night. Lamb was lovely and is as described which is slow cooked. If you had asked you would have known it starts it’s cooking process the night before, it’s not McDonalds after all. Second visit had seafood linguine which was well cooked, flavoured and seasoned. I suggest skipping the starters so you can have the apple crumble tart for dessert. It is wonderful. Staff are very polite and knowledgeable of the food. Some people were turned away because they did not have a booking and they cannot just stand at the bar. Even residents had to have a table so complying with Regulations.

Excellent find tucked away off the main road. Food was fabulous and the staff were very friendly and welcoming - something I really appreciate in these strange times where eating out can be a bit stressful. Will definitely be returning on future visits.

I had the mussels to start which were very tastey, my other half had the Cullen skink which was ok.
For mains, we both had the slow cooked lamb shoulder which was succulent and a good portion.
Isle of Skye IPA wasn't very good but a local beer so wouldn't blame them for serving it.
Service was friendly and quick.

The food here was so good that we returned for a second night and it would have been a third if we didn’t have another reservation elsewhere. Every single dish looked and tasted amazing: soup, pie, calamari, hummus, cod, brownie, panacota … could not fault any of it. Portions were large, prices were reasonable and the staff were extremely attentive. A must visit!

We visited here on our first night to Skye!
Made to feel very welcome greeted with a smile even our furry friend was welcome which is a bonus for us😃
All food was delicious and full of flavour. Soup, cullen skink and muscles to start did not dissapoint.
Pies full of filling and hake was one of the best fish dishes i’ve ever had.
Would definitely return if we had more days here.

When we looked at the menu online we wanted to cancel our booking but we were so glad we didn't. For starters I had the Hummus with homemade pita bread and my partner had the special scallops with a butternut and tomato salsa - so tasty. For mains I had the venison burger which was delicious and the sirloin steak for my partner we thought was a bit overpriced but it was a prime cut and prepared to perfection. The highlight of my meal was the Whiskey Panna Cota - so smooth and then added to that a raspberry sorbet - mouth watering. Please try it! My best dessert in recent years and definitely a master chef at work here.

After researching restaurants online, we decided to book here for our first day on Skye and Sunday lunch - the pub has a cosy feeling, we were seated through into a separate room for our meal. The decor and surroundings are fresh and comfortable. Four of us had the Sunday Roast which was a lovely well cooked shin of beef served with roast potatoes and veg, one had the fish and chips which was lovely too. We had room for desserts and ordered the apple crumble, a deconstructed style, very tasty and a chocolate brownie with ice cream. The meal was really nice and we would highly recommend. We would have visited again, however the restaurant is only open during the day on a Sunday.

We have eaten at the Edinbane Inn pre-Covid and always had a wonderful experience. In the past this included live folk music sessions. Now the Inn has adapted to social distancing with all tables well spaced out, Perspex at the bar area and hand hygiene at all opportunities. The food remains exceptional - the best we had on our week on Skye. From the starters of Cullen Skink & Black pudding with Pork Belly & Apple to the mains of seafood linguine, roast lamb which just fell apart & was so succulent, huge fish & delicious triple cooked chips. We squeezed in desserts of sticky toffee pudding & ice cream and the piece de resistance of strawberries, whipped cream & a huge meringue. Add to this a nice wine list, great local beers on tap, wide selection of whiskies and local gins too. We came back twice! I can not recommend the Edinbane Inn too highly. They have adapted to new challenges and maintained high standards. Thank you - we will be back.

Booked for an evening meal for four of us, owners very quick to confirm booking and also reassure that they can provide for gluten free and vegetarian.
Loved the decor and ambiance. Service was quick and friendly, good choice of food and generous portions. None of us could manage a desert tough tempted.

Our second meal on Skye and Edinbane Inn failed to disappoint! We ordered the black pudding to start which was delicious. I had the hake which was cooked to perfection and my husband thoroughly enjoined the venison burger. To finish we shared a sticky toffee putting which was huge! We will most certainly be back!
