I recently had a working lunch at this restaurant for the second time and would highly recommend you trying their fare if you are in the area. Although it's not a large space, there are other patrons but you can still have privacy for your conversations.
I had the calamari appetizer which is ample for two to share and was quite tasty. I followed this with the Veal Marsala. I've had better, but it was adequate and decent enough for a lunch portion with a mix of vegetables.
You will pay more than at any of the many local bakery's and the food is not necessarily better, but you get table service and a nice atmosphere to talk shop.

Two pasta dishes and a salad... All were absolutely delicious. The Rigatoni Bolognese was absolutely perfect. The sauce was fresh and flavourful and had just the right stick to the perfectly al dente pasta. My partner's Papardelle Di Bosco, although too rich for me was also full of flavour and made exactly right. Our arugula salad was very fresh and the shaved parmigiana a real treat. The service was slow and there seemed to be some backroom dramatics going on. It's a testament to the chef that these glitches didn't ruin the experience.

After reading many wonderful reviews I reached out to the owner about gluten free options. Her warmth, friendliness and enthusiasm was all I needed - easy online booking, text reminders and before I knew it my family and I were enjoying our first restaurant experience in months - Gluten Free! For people who have to deal with food allergies & intolerances, they understand that going to a restaurant may mean you can find maybe a few options. Here, they will custom make ANY pizza GLUTEN FREE! And you don't pay extra. As well, most of their pastas can also be made gluten free (rice pasta, $3 extra), as well as most of their antipasti, salads and meat dishes. My mom loved her gluten free chicken piccata, and steamed rapini with lemon. She felt amazing eating so healthy! My daughters and I each had a customized pizza, and my husband and son had pasta with a cream sauce with truffle oil and I believe sauteed mushrooms. Of course we started our meals with a delicious salad (can't remember what it was called). Our waitress told us that most of their appetizers can be made gluten free, so we will definitely explore more options next time. I can't comment on their regular meals, but the table beside us were truly loving their choices and talking about it loud enough for me to hear. I couldn't blame them, the regular meals looked soooooo good!!! If they had any gluten free dessert options we would have definitely had some but hopefully if more people ask for them, it may be an option in the future. I have to say though, as we had three waitstaff serving us (they were all lovely, and they took care of us), one server who did not know that we were gluten free tried to give us a regular bread basket, so always inquire as the restaurant is busy and the waitstaff work hard but mistakes happen. Will definitely be back!

Ate at the outdoor patio. Took 1 hour from the time we sat down, to get our Caesar salads. Remember, they weren't busy, only about 5 tables. One hour for the appetizer is far too long. Pasta portions were very small. Rigatoni was stiffer than el dante. My wife specifiically asked for no meat in her pasta dish but it came with it. Her new pasta dish came after we had all finished eating. The gelato cam melted and had the consistency of soup. Should have taken my wife's meal off the bill.

Dear Sir,
I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your meal. However, a little more compassion would have been nice, especially from someone in the medical field. COVID has changed people's eating habits. While you didn't see many people on the patio, we are doing brisk business for delivery which did cause some delay in your food. I don't think it was 'an hour' to get your appetizer. Our pasta portions, as part of the $25 Pastaliscious menu that you had, were the same size as our normal portions. If you read our other reviews, small is not usually how they're described. Yes. It took 6 or 7 minutes to make your wife a new pasta and the new staff member who made a'boo-boo' apologized. Everyone makes mistakes. No mention of not being happy with your meal was brought up. Should we have automatically assumed that you did not like it once everything was eaten off your plate? It would be in everyone's best interest if, in the future, you mention how you're feeling prior to leaving so we can make the necessary corrections.
On a side note, if I may ask..... When I book an appointment at my doctor's office and wait an hour longer than when I was told, do you NOT charge OHIP for my visit? Do many of your patients rate you on RateMyMD after their visit? Even if it wasn't a nice experience, not typical of your regular service, would you recommend we start doing that moving forward? It seems fine to do it to restaurants in an already fragile industry during pre-COVID times. It hurts even more to get 'kicked' when we're already down.
We would LOVE it if you could remove this review, come in, and give us another opportunity to dine with us. If not, we still wish you well and hope you stay strong and healthy! Thank you for your service during COVID.

We visited That’s Italian on September 17th. I made the reservation hoping for some good Italian food. We had driven to Vaughn from Sudbury for an IKEA trip and needed some good hearty food
That’s Italian is located in a small strip mall and a little hard to find but our cab driver managed just fine.
Signed in, as per COVID protocols. Restaurant is spotlessly clean. Tables are spaced far enough apart for comfort.
Ordered wine and appetizers to start. Shared calamari fritti and Caesar salad. The calamari was perfection. Caesar salad had nice crisp lettuce and a perfectly garlicky dressing
Dinner was Rigatoni Bolognese and Fettucine Alfredo. My friend said the Fettucine was the best she’d ever had. The Bolognese was hearty with a great full flavour. Pure comfort food.
The owner/host, Joe, chatted with us like we were old friends and even called us a cab to get us back to our hotel. Thanks Joe, you were the topper on a fabulous night.
I would not hesitate to recommend That’s Italian and I look forward to returning.

Service was not the best. Were not told specials of the day, had to ask for water and were never offered a second drink. Food was average. (We are from Windsor and the Italian restaurants there blow this place away) My wife had a chicken dish and while not being burnt, it tasted burnt. This is one of Toronto’s best? We travelled 3 hours for a weekend away and this was the lowlight of the weekend.

Hi Matt,
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy weekend to register and leave us a review. I do apologize on behalf of the service issues. I won't argue with you on that point. It's been very difficult finding and retaining staff during COVID and we've been trying hard to get our trainees 'up-to-speed'. With regards to some of your other comments, I would like to address them. First, we're in Woodbridge, not Toronto. If you weren't aware, we're a suburban area located in Vaughan, just north of Toronto. Many do visit from out of town to enjoy our outlet mall and stay at the many two-star hotels in the area. We're a local spot and the majority of our regulars love our food. We're not pretentious, our pricing is fair and the portions are generous. We look forward to coming down to Windor to try some of those amazing places you're referring too. We hear that shredded pepperoni and canned mushrooms are the 'rage' down there! As the French say 'CHACUN À SON GOÛT (to each his own)'

We waited for our pizza for approximately an hour. The kitchen and staff seemed incredibly unorganized ... it was chaos. We ordered pizza and salad hoping for something great. We live 7 minutes from this restaurant. By the time we arrived home, the pizza was cold and wet/soggy in the center. The cheese looked a bit like plastic. We certainly expected something better than we could purchase from a pizza chain. I would recommend going to Pizza Nova instead if you are looking for pizza.

Thank you for taking the time to go out of your way in leaving us a negative review. We really appreciate that ESPECIALLY since we've been forced to close and are not allowed to operate at normal capacity. If you did have problems with your pizza, you certainly did not tell us about it or else we would have gladly corrected any issues. You only live '7 minutes away from us'. Couldn't you have called and have us make you another one if it was truly that bad? Were you THAT hungry that you ate that inferior pizza anyways?
If you compare us to Pizza Nova, then you had better stick to a franchise location.... you'll definitely get your plastic cheese and soya-based toppings (we don't have any of those)...... heck, you may even get a 2nd pizza for the price of one!

I find it astounding that this restaurant owner responds to all his negative reviews by belittling the reviewer.
I was at the table next to the bar when I witnessed both servers (f) being unkind to a customer as she walked in. I should have taken note of the servers' names that day but did not. This individual arrived and stood at the front to be seated.
One server walked to the front of the restaurant to the bar to prepare a drink for another customer and watched the customer waiting..... NEVER did she acknowledge the waiting customer, the server did not even say hello, I'd be with you in one minute, nothing from the server. If it were me, I would have walked out there and then. but no.....
The Individual stood there patiently and calmly awaiting service. After 5 whole minutes, of standing at the front, the entire restaurant watched the individual looking slightly embarrassed to be there. The next server walked to the front at the bar to prepare another drink after 2 mins and then the server asked if was being assisted. SERIOUSLY! Did you think she was standing there to be noticed by everyone, the restaurant does not have multiple rooms. Everyone dining in knew she was not helped for at least 7 mins. That was ludicrous!
What made it worse is that the restaurant was NOT busy and the individual did have a reservation, so she was not a walk in. The server seated the individual and left her for another 10 mins when she finally came back and asked her if she wanted a drink. the customer obliged and also tried to order an appetizer. The server informed her that she was not prepared to take an order from her until her entire party had arrived. Then she would take the entire order and submit to the kitchen. You would think this was going to be a rather large table, But no.... it was only 3 ladies. in that party. Yet the ladies were still very kind to the servers.
I would love to hear the retort from the restaurant owner for this dis-treatment of his customers by his untrained and rude servers.
I would also hope for the individual who bore the brunt of this humiliation to write her review of the issues she and her party faced at this establishment. I would love to hear her side.

A 'stranger' with absolutely NO RELATION to this group of women, out of the goodness of her heart, took it upon herself to leave a review on behalf of a person she doesn't know. In case you weren't aware, she left a Google review on Jessica, her server. You know, the one with the GIANT name tag written on her shirt. She's the one that usually circles her name on the bill before presenting them to guests. Most people leave reviews based on their OWN meal and service, not those of others. Was your table that bored that you had so much time to focus on what that table ordered and how they were treated? You timed, with your watch, the 5 minutes she waited at the door, the 2 minutes the server prepared the drinks, the 7 minutes that 'everyone in the dining room watched the guest waiting helplessly' and the 10 minutes the server left to go in the kitchen? Madam, you would make an EXCELLENT timekeeper at our next condo board meeting. It's too bad you live in Ajax, just like one of the ladies from the group that was allegedly 'mistreated' and of no relation to you.... what are the odds?

We made a reservation and arrived in time to show our vaccine passports and ID. To our dismay they do not check them? They do take our info but no real Covid protocols - masks for most were worn.
The food was very good and we started with calamari and a Caesar salad. We both love lamb so we had the lamb chops cooked medium rare. Veggies were good, a nice Valpolicella went well with the lamb. Caramel salted cheesecake plus grappa and limoncello ended the meal.
Great service was provided by Susan. Overall a good meal but light on Covid protocols.

I spoke to 2 people on the phone and 2 when I arrived.
These are really nice people.
I forgot how much I like coming to this restaurant.
Service was always good and still is.
While the food for take out is not the same as restaurant eating this was really a close second.
Everything was very tasty.
Thank you for making this strange Valentines Day just as good with excellent food.
I will be back and hopefully be able to sit inside!!!!!!

A great place!! The food is always delicious and the experience is warm and inviting... like visiting family! Angie is the best!! Recently my family and I ordered Pizza's and Gnocchi and it was amazing. Their pizza dough is amazing. never disappointed. Definitely a must go!

Family run restaurant with REALLY GREAT food, ambience, and service. Grilled calamari and linguini alla vongole are MUST order along with pizzas. Going to be our regular Italian restaurant to go to.

We were there on a Monday. This is not a large restaurant with huge staff so when a table of 14 and another of 5 arrived at about the same time the pace of service slowed. We weren’t ignored, the two wait staff did heroes work but it did take some time between courses. Fortunately we were in no hurry and the food was excellent. Served piping hot, traditional taste and quality. We will return.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the nice review and thank you for giving us another try. Mondays are a 'crapshoot' for us. We're one of the few places open in the area on that day. Sometimes we're slow and sometimes we can't keep up with the demand. We often times double-up on staff the next day or following Monday only to pay more in wages that what we make in sales. Either way, it's nice to know that you enjoyed your food and were not in a hurry. We often tell guests that even McDonald's, nowadays makes you wait in a designated parking spot while they make your food. Nothing good ever cames in a hurry. Looking forward to your next visit! Grappa is on us.

Amazing food. i use them for catering as well for the organization i work for. They never disappoint. The food is fresh, presentable and the most important very tasty.

Fantastic food and service and quiet classy place, very reasonable prices. Gnudi and polenta fries were incredible had calamari mista my friend bolognese. We had a wonderful time eating like kings. It's tough for a wheelchair to get up the curb. Patrons lifted me in my chair up onto the sidewalk when going in and down when leaving! Good memory.
