I am not fond of eating Mexican food. My son wanted to do Sunday branch, and we visited Caracol. I tried almost all dishes and dessert. It did not affect my stomach. Most often i dont go to Mexican resto as it does not agree...More

Oh nothing makes me happier than happy hour at this restaurant. I get the best margarita and a variety of appetizers to share with my favorite people. The staff is always friendly and upbeat. It is perfect.

Seriously, just start with the guac and chips. Low-brow? No. The tortillas are homemade and warm and the guac is very fresh avocado with a sprinkle of goat cheese. Seriously, I could live off of it. I ordered for an entree the catch of the...More

The service here is a bit intrusive. Way too much detail in the waitor’s description of dishes and tequilas. Excellent tequila selection, good food, but very high prices for what is essentially dressed up Mexican food.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal out on the patio. The smoked oysters were fantastic. Each of us had different seafood dinners. Each meal was great, but I would not order the wood grilled fish again. I didn’t care for the sauce.

Early Friday Dinner My wife says - that is my favorite waitress ever. Food matches the service. Space is very nice as well. Highly recommend!!!

We have been to Caracol twice before and had excellent service and food. Today we went for brunch the service was terrible and had to tolerate kids playing tag around our table. The parents at the next table sat there and did nothing to control...More

Our Easter brunch was excellent but there was a family with spoiled children making so much noise, without any sign of parents, family, correcting them or addressing the poor behavior, which made it really an unpleasant experience. Restaurant should address this issue since it is...More

The wood-roasted Gulf oysters are absolutely delicius and with reduced price during happy hour. Nice terrace that can be enjoyed when it is not too hot in Houston.

The cocktails were wonderful, the apps were delish, pass on the chicharrones. The black bean puree next the the ceviche tostadas was amazing.

Casual to cocktail. Anything goes. I would say dressy jeans and heels for women and you'll feel comfortable. Same for men without the heels:)

Description
One of the beauties of Mexico is its geographic location, with coasts on the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, which is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Florida Straits. From these waters comes a bounty of edible sea life, which is celebrated at Caracol, the award-winning restaurant of culinary team of Chef Hugo Ortega and Restaurateur Tracy Vaught. Caracol meaning “snail” in Spanish, was chosen as the restaurant’s name because of Chef Hugo’s fond memories of making ceviche de caracol (conch ceviche) in his brother Jose Luis’ kitchen at a resort in Playa del Carmen (see Hugo’s personal essay below). Our menu is a culinary tour along the Mexican coasts, which are shared by 16 of the country’s states.
