The lunch meal took ages to arrive. I was about ready to leave. We had wanted a glass of water with the meal. We were told this was only available in plastic bottles for sale. This despite a big drinking water tank beside the cafe....It took considerable negotiation to get a paper cup for water, even though I offered to pay for one. The food itself was OK, if unmemorable. I wouldn't recommend the cafe. but if you do go, take a waer bottle.More

Expensive for what it is, staff were rude and wouldn’t let us sit inside despite plenty of free tables and ordering $100+ worth of food. Would recommend going elsewhere or bringing your own food.

Thanks for your feedback. If you had ordered lunch and we had a spare table I do t think you would have been refused. It’s likely the tables were reserved and the guests hadn’t arrived.

Clearly you couldn’t get a seat for your coffee even though there were signs everywhere on what to do on our busiest weekend. Parking has nothing to do with the Cafe. We had many guests who enjoyed lunch with us and loved it.

My family enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Hanging Rock Cafe this week - friendly and efficient staff, a warm fire, and wonderful food and wine at a reasonable price. The Hanging Rock Reserve is a stunning setting to visit on a day trip or...just a catch up with family and friends.More

We came for a day trip to Hanging Rock and chose to eat at the cafe rather than the hassle of packing picnic and drinks etc As it was school hols the whole place was busy but not crazy. Super impressed with the female manager...Briony, who found us a seat outside (beautiful day) and explained how to order inside. She was upfront and explained that food would be about 30mins due to busy period but that was fine as the kids played on grassy oval just below while I had a cold beer. Exactly 28 mins later our meals came out altogether. We had a Pulled Pork Roll, Hanging Rock fritters, Marinated Chicken burger and kids nuggets and chips. Everyone one of the meals was soooo good. Fresh, tasty and huge servings. The chips are especially good and well worth the extra $4-$5. We found the price of the meals very fair - compared to the food at other tourist attractions it’s much better quality and similar price . Oh yeah and the young waitresses all had beautiful manners and a big smile. Very personable and friendly. Can’t recommend this cafe highly enough.More

Cafe very ordinary food, but great setting. The sticky chicken salad was soggy quinoa and had an unusual flavour which was not nice. The iced chocolate was good but had to take it back to get more chocolate flavour, was very weak. Kransky in roll...was just that. Chips were excellent in fact best but cost extra Part of meal. Hanging rock is a lovely picnic ground so take your own lunch.More

Pretty disappointed with this cafe, as I was looking forward to something to eat before trekking through the reserve. Our order took at least 20 minutes to be taken (we had to walk up to the counter and intercept staff) and no water was offered...or put on our table. Even the drink we ordered took almost 40 mins to come out (was a soft drink) Meals came out almost 1 hour later, I can't say they weren't good however the service was below average.More

Once we did our walk around hanging rock we realised we required food. The Hanging Rock Cafe was extremely busy when we were seated. We ordered 10mins after being seated. We were aware there was at least a 40min wait. All up it was closer...to an hour before our food arrived. The drinks a little earlier. We didn’t mind the wait under the shade of the tree. Lovely little spot. Ordered iced coffees, chips and feta bruschetta. All well presented and delicious. Service pleasant and polite.More

We enjoyed a nice climb up Hanging Rock and then stopped at the cafe for a takeaway lunch. Unfortunately we found it quite expensive, eg $5 for softdrinks (so $20 for the family) and then simple items like a large bag of hot chips were...$11ea. But it got worse - the bag of chips took 40minutes to prepare - despite reduced seating in the cafe and when we ordered there being no other people waiting for takeaway food. We checked twice with staff to be told they'd be ready within "10mins" and "2-3 mins" but they never were despite them regularly taking chips to people seated in the cafe. It was only after our multiple complaints that they started advising people ordering takeaway of a 30min wait. It's really disappointing that there's not an affordable cafe option that targets families in this popular visitor attraction - instead overpriced meals and on the day we visited very slow service. It's a shame because the chips were actually nicely cooked. We really should have gone to Woodend to eat! It's five minutes away.More
