Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We liked coming here to see a band. The cover charge was $5 which we thought was ok (looks like sometimes $10). The interior is great and looks lovely. The menu is pretty varied and the food we had was nice. The salmon main was...particularly nice. Food and wine is quite expensive (eg Salmon main was $32 and wine about $40 a bottle) but beer prices ok.More

Overton Square is a nice location (second only to downtown) with numerous restaurants and entertainment venues. We went to the Lafayette Music Room primarily for the live music, which was very good, and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, which was also...very good. We will definitely go back the next time we're in Memphis.More

This was a fun place with seating on the main floor and on the balcony. They said the balcony was a little quieter. Maybe, but when the band was playing it was super loud and it was not possible to converse. The food was good,...the server very attentive - it was a slow night, so can't speak for the conditions on popular nights or bands. We had reservations, and there is a $5 cover charge when you walk in. So go for the music, and save your talking to the brief stops between numbers, or when the band takes a break.More

Pros: The band was impressive Cons: Canceled an online order after previously accepting it. Didn't give an option to modify or say what exactly they were out of. Went in person and food was average. Bar tender was inattentive. Summary: Go for the music, don't...have expectations for the restMore

We went on a Monday night and enjoyed the Memphis Knights Big Band. The band was great and all the dancers added to the experience. I have new goals for when I’m older. We ordered the salmon and the midtown Mac and cheese. Both were...amazing. The salmon was a touch over cooked but still yummy and the veggies were delicious. The Mac and cheese is easily one of the best I’ve had. I’m not a fan of blackened chicken, but Lafayette’s has changed my mind. Only the seasonings were blackened and the chicken was still juicy (which has not been my experience with blackened chicken in the past). We also ordered the stuffed beignets. They were just ok. The beignet itself was warm and yummy, but the filling wasn’t warm which made it a little weird. I think had the filling also been warm it would’ve been better. The staff were good if a little slow, so plan to enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food.More

This place is at Overton Square, a very friendly vibes mall. Away from downtown Memphis, it is a totally different atmosphere. We sat at the outside terrace on the first floor, where you could hear the band play, but not too loud so we could...talk. Service was great, our waitress ran the whole terrace on het own! Great job!More

What a treat to hear a quality big band/swing music. Five dollar cover charge. Well worth it. Party of five had dinner and enjoyed the music. Our favorite was the grilled salmon and vegetables. Delicious Several people were dancing. Fun evening. Good service.

My 22 year old son and I were looking for something to eat later in the evening on a Sunday night. Lafayette caught my attention on TA because of its ranking as well as the live music. We went for about an hour, had dinner,...listened to a live band, and loved every minute of it. With it being a Sunday night, it really wasn't that crowded. Service was great and the food was delicious. I had the lettuce wraps and my son had the pork belly with grits. I would definitely return and stay longer when in Memphis again!More

We purchased four tickets to see Haley Reinhart at Lafayette’s. We arrived at 6:30 for a show that started at 7:30. The only seats were upstairs at a table from which no one at the table could see ANYTHING on stage. Everything was blocked. If...you don’t have enough seating from which everyone can see the show, don’t sell the tickets. Pure greed resulting in an awful experienceMore

I made reservations for dinner here because of its history and location. I was quite surprised to find that there was a $5/person cover charge for anyone entering even if you were dining there. The hostess said it’s because of the live band, but from...what I understand there’s always a live band? Why not just incorporate the cover charge into meal prices? Anyway, we paid it because we had a reservation and didn’t want to deal with finding somewhere else to go. It was extremely loud inside from the music. We were first seated at a high top table right next to the stairs (honestly kind of dangerous if you leaned too far off your stool), but the table was wobbly. We asked for a new table and our waitress moved us to a lower table which was much more comfortable for us (I had 2 elderly women with me). The waitress was nice and our food was good, but overpriced in my opinion. Sides do not come with the meals so you have to order fries (or another side) a la carte and pay more. It was definitely our most expensive meal in Memphis but in my opinion was not worth that price.More

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Monday night, not knowing that there was going to be a big band. Not what we were hoping for, but the band was pretty good. Service (Andrea) was great. And the food (gumbo, pasta jambalaya,...glazed lamb) was very good. Total with a few adult beverages was $100 (plus tip) and we were there for 2 hours, so pretty good.More

My wife and I went for lunch. The food was very good the service was quick. They have burgers but they also have some nicer food on their lunch menu. We shared lamb chops and a salad and it was fantastic. Service could not have...been better. I can only imagine what a great place this would be with music in the evening in addition to the great food. A great experienceMore
