Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good fun at the Rum Boogie Cafe!! The band were brilliant and pay requests all night. The food was good. The cocktails are weak so ordered an extra shot to liven them up.

A great introduction to Beale Street for us. Recommended by a local, it did not disappoint. A superb and versatile 6 piece band fronted by a great soul singer. The food was good quality, standard bar food and our friendly waitress kept the drinks flowing....Highly recommended for a fantastic night out.More

Stumbled upon this place while exploring Beale Street after visiting Graceland. We were quite hungry and it was difficult finding a place with vegan, gluten free options for me. The place is casual with lots of tables/chairs, a bar and 2 stages. The washrooms were...divey. There are guitars hanging from the ceilings and dollar bills on the walls along with writing, etc. We had the absolute best server I have ever experienced. Jalia (sorry if its spelled wrong) was kind, friendly and very helpful with a constant smile. She knew my needs of gluten free and vegan and she crafted a salad specially for me. It could have used a better dressing than just oil and vinegar but I had polished off a side of fries so it was fine. The others shared a rib dinner and two others got chicken sraps and Jalia ensured there was no pesto as one guest had a nut allergy. Our lemonade was tasty and topped up without asking. Even though Jalia was busy, service was quick.More

We went as a pre-booked bus party of around 38. We were squeezed into a small area, although the bar was quiet. The service was dreadful and the food rather poor. We were told to keep our cutlery for all 3 courses. It wasn’t much...use for dessert as the cheesecake was frozen solid! Bar service very slow. It was so bad we cut the evening short and got picked up an hour and a half early.More

Decorated with old guitars hanging from the ceiling, musical paraphernalia and wooden floors gives this venue a great atmosphere . After a few beers I had the gator gumbo, which without question the best gumbo I had in Memphis and New Orleans. Each of the...nights we visited a 3 piece rock band were playing. They were really good playing songs from the 60s, 70s. Make sure you arrive at the venue before 8pm otherwise they will charge you a $10 entry fee.More

My wife and I went here for a quick, light lunch. I got the sausage gumbo and my wife got the red beans and rice. Both were truly excellent. The bartender, who was also our waiter and server was very friendly and helpful. The lunchtime...live music was OK.More

This was one of the best nights out on our American Road Trip. The food was outstanding, the service was great (our waitress was from California and was friendly and attentive - the best we had experienced in Tennessee) and the band was absolutely incredible....The gumbo was the best we had tasted and the pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Cocktails and beers were great. It is a must do when in Memphis. We had an absolutely fantastic time here.More

This is a wonderful gem of a restaurant. Food was bar food, which was fine, but the real reason to go was the live music. Went with my underage kids for lunch, and could not be happier about this pick. Highly recommend!

Visited whilst in Memphis for drinks and music. Beale street is a very busy street of bars and restaurants. I highly recommend Rum boogie for amazing talent. Tonight we watched vinnie Johnson and his band. They are extremely talented and probably one of the best...nights we had in Memphis. If I visit again I would definitely visit rum boogie again.More

This bar was charming with tons of guitars from famous singers that had been to the bar in the past, including Elvis. The current singer was Chris Gales, a large black man, with an equally large, soulful voice. We had a concert to go to...south of Memphis, but had it not been for that, we would have stayed and listened to Chris for his entire set. That's how good he was. As it was, we missed an hour of the concert. Totally worth it. The waiter was attentive and very nice young gentleman. We did not eat, since we had just eaten at another establishment. Seemed a little pricey.More

We enjoyed an early lunch here. Had a tasty burger and rice and beans/gumbo combo. Enjoyed the music by Chris Gales and stayed longer than expected because he was a very good performer. We also stopped in one night before turning in and enjoyed about...half an hour of the set by a different performer/group.More
