Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had read good reviews about the place and it was just as goodas, or maybe better than, folks said it would be. We went for lunch. I had a bowl of greens and a bowl of stew. The greens were deep ham flavored, the...stew was a rich beefy goodness. The waitress accommodated my request to get the side of chicken tenders (supposedly available only with an entree) for my wife. The chicken was excellent and more than enough for her to eat. We returned so I could try the half rack of ribs. They were tender, meaty and juicy, but I would have liked a smokier flavor. The fries and slaw were great as well. The place has great food and is right on Beale Street where you can get a major blues infusion.More

Out of this world ribs! The beans and slaw worked perfectly against the sauce and smokiness of the ribs, and the steak fries were crispy and delicious. Fab ambience, excellent service, perfect location...what more could one wish for from a Memphis dining experience?

Not many places were open so we picked this spot. Large portions of food. Found ribs were just OK. Catfish dry. Preparing large volumes of food at a time. Was very noisy and crowded. Just not for us.

We went here so we could dine where there was a band. There are effectively 3 rooms and our meal was not in the room with the band but open plan enough to hear them. Luckily as we finished eating a table in the band...room became free and we moved (these tables are all high with bar stools). We liked the band. The food comes within minutes of you ordering so I presume all ready cooked and waiting to go but it came before drinks and felt a bit rushed. I would recommend ordering drinks, getting them and then ordering food. Food portions are generally big. There are a couple of appetisers that are fries - these are huge and hard to see them as an appetiser and definitely not for an individual! Two of us had a bowl of chilli - nice flavour but a bit too much liquid and probably one of the smaller portions and would be good to be able to have rice with it which is not an option. Ribs were enjoyed.More

Well, we just died and went to heaven when we had supper at the Blues City Cafe! We had the Ribs and Catfish combination for two which comes with delicious coleslaw, baked beans, some hush puppies and enough amazing golden fries to choke a horse....My German Golden Lager hit the spot. So very satisfying! Don't leave Memphis without eating here.More

Fellow travelers on the street said this place had been recommended to them, and we are glad we followed them in! We had the gumbo (spicy and delicious), ribs (melt-in-your-mouth), fries (golden and crispy) and apple dumpling with ice cream (so good). The service was...excellent and very friendly. I would love to come back to try the tamales and chili!More

Quick service, huge portions, good food. As pricey as expected for Beale Street. Large beers too. Service friendly and accommodating. Plan closely on ordering or plan to take leftovers. Ribs were great, fall of the home tender. Desserts looked great but already had too much...food! Not busy just after noon on March Monday.More

The combo for two was on point!!! The ribs, catfish, cole slaw, baked beans, and fries were more than enough for two people. And the quality was excellent!!!

We went on a quieter Friday evening— weren’t expecting gourmet but the experience surpassed expectations. Husband loved the ribs, and the gumbo was good. Great service — our server got my hubby a beer he loves and told him he’d buy if he didn’t like...it (he did). So attentive and nice. Recommend this as the menu has variety and the experience was so nice!More

Some delicious Memphis style BBQ ribs. Wanted to eat something Memphis was known for and was definitely not disappointed. Friendly and fast service. Delicious food.

Once seated our server announced that the chef made the world's best ribs. The Worlds Best Ribs. So we had to try. You guys, he was not lying. They were the worlds freaking best ribs. The Gumbo & catfish - also amazing.

We went on a Monday night (when many other places are closed) on the recommendation of a local and it was fantastic. Had the Ribs and catfish "best meal on Beale" - all delicious and sides were so tasty too. Great service. My 19 yr...old son rates it the best meal he's eaten so far in our 4 weeks in the US. Go when you visit Beale Street!More
