We went for the Chef's Tasting menu last week, and it was phenomenal. We have eaten at quite a few Michelin Star restaurants during our travels in Europe, and the meal we had last Friday night was the equal of any of them. The 5...course dinner, all seafood, was perfectly proportioned, just enough of each course, beautifully prepared and plated, an amazing array of textures and tastes. We had the wine pairings as well, which also were perfect compliments to the meal. If you have never been to one of Erling's Chef's Tasting menu dinners, please go. It is the best dining experience you will have in Memphis, for that matter, anywhere. The meal plus wine pairing is a fantastic value as well.More

For those seeking a more intimate experience, the private dining room offers an exclusive haven, designed to evoke a sense of privacy and luxury. Dover Sole Meunière, Jumbo Lump Crabmeat, Capers This iconic French dish that originated in Normandy is renowned for its simplicity in...preparation, allowing various interpretations, and is commonly accompanied by potatoes, such as yukon gold, whether mashed, steamed or roasted. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the sauce, ‘beurre noisette’, which imparts a rich and flavorful taste to the delicate white fish. The incredible staff demonstrated a genuine eagerness to listen to our feedback and share their own stories and techniques comfortably. The reciprocity of hospitality did not go unnoticed!More

My Wife and I have eaten here several times and I am always thoroughly impressed with the food, but I am always equally impressed with the service. If you are looking for an intimate place for a fabulous dinning experience, Erling Jensen's is a must!

Sunday night? Undoubtedly a full house, which is why I had made reservations online early in the week! But as we approached our destination (and also had another couple joining us) I became anxious as I had not received a reminder, as is the usual...custom. When we walked in Mrs. Jensen greeted us - but alas, our reservation was not there. In walked our dinner guests....never flustered she asked us to wait a moment. She disappeared and returned shortly and asked if we would mind being served in the bar area. She hurriedly helped the staff prepare a table for 4 and we had the most enjoyable evening among friends and the perfect hostess. Thank you, Mrs. Jensen for your willingness to help with grace!More

Fine dining at its best. Our server was knowledgeable and the food was excellent. Don’t miss the chocolate or strawberry soufflé for dessert.

This was our fifth visit to Erling Jensen And our last. It is our first visit since the pandemic. I had the crawfish bisque which it is not very tasty and the crawfish smelled too fishy for me. I follow this with the buffalo fillet...which was served almost at room temperature it was extremely disappointing. My wife had to halibut and said “you shouldn’t be allowed to do this to a good piece of fish “ In general the food was bland the end call. All of our dinner if my wife made it at home I would ask her never to make it again.More

Top notch staff and food. Celebrated our daughter’s college graduation and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Asparagus soup, rolls, scallops, and chocolate soufflé were especially notable. Solid wine list.

Several years ago we decided to visit Erling Jensen’s on the advice of someone very familiar with this restaurant to celebrate our 40th anniversary! We were amazed at the simply FABULOUS meal we enjoyed, and the quite atmosphere even though the piano bar was full...of those getting off from work to enjoy this fine restaurant. No one was loud at the bar, and we enjoyed the piano music very much! Tonight, we met friends from Huntsville in Memphis, and they had asked beforehand for a recommendation for dinner. Without a second thought, we said ‘No place in Memphis as good as Erling Jensen’s”, So I made reservations for 6:45. Not realizing the distance from our hotel to the restaurant, we left around 5:45 thinking rush hour traffic in Memphis would be murder! We arrived at 6:15. We were greeted pleasantly by a matre’de who seated us immediately even though we were early. The first part of dinner was as quite as our very first dinner years before. Appitizers were amazing! However, about the time our main course was delivered, a large table of about 7 or 8 couples arrived. Our lovely dinner was completely ruined by LOUD, RUDE people who didn’t give a RIP about the beautiful ambiance they were ruining with their VERY loud voices, nor did anyone else in the restaurant give a rat’s A#@ about how many cigarettes this one guy’s GRANDMOTHER SMOKED as he yelled this useless information to a guy at the other end of their table. My husband went to the matre’de to see if he could politely ask them to be more considerate of others , but he refused! He explained he was hired to run this restaurant and he was doing it the way he saw fit, and would not say anything to these customers. Of course, a large table of 14 to 16 would be spending MUCH more money than our little table of four, so we enured the very LOUD RUDENESS even though we could not hear a single WORD the others at our table were saying without yelling. As I sat there, I couldn’t help but wonder how Mr.Jensen would handled the situation. Would he have let the wonderful ambiance of his fabulous, award winning restaurant be ruined by loud mouthed inconsiderate young people? I’ll never know because if he was there, he never came out to see what was going on in his restaurant. I want everyone who reads Trip Advisor to be warned!! If you come on a week night, this may or may not happen to you. (We were there on a Friday night). Let me assure you if this same matre’de (who was referred to as the “manager”) is there, he won’t care one way or the other, as long as the bucks are rolling in. “So what if the four people spending 5 to 7 hundred dollars were angry. The big table of 16…. MUCH more money!! If I have to make someone angry, let it be the little party spending less money. Who cares if four people refuse to return to his restaurant” MONEY BEFORE REPUTATION was his mantra! Our fine dining experience was ruined by the loudmouth jerks at the adjacent table. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!!More

Haven't been there in over a year and noticed they were selling this item. I've only had it once - one of the best meals of my life, in Paris. So you know I was looking for an excuse to try again. We bought a...takeout order for 4 @ $50. This came with roast potatoes. We simply had to reheat it. My wife pronounced it excellent. For me, it couldn't compete with the memories of 'the first time', but I liked it and would order again.More

WOW. Erling Jensen's does a great job of treating customers well in good times, but did an even better job during the Covid 19 restrictions. And the food is fantastic. The tasting menu and accompanying wines were perfect from the ahi to the elk and...dessert. The fried oyster salad is a heaping plate of delicious, perfectly done oysters. The two different steaks at our table were beautiful and served with different sauces. The lamb was proclaimed the best ever. All in all, it was a lovely, low key, well paced and delicious dining experience.More

This was the very best take out food I have eaten...ever! I’m traveling and no dining rooms are open. That is awful, but this was a great experience. I called to take the daily special and they were sold out, BUT the lovely woman on...the phone offered to customize my meal. So I ordered duck confit, asparagus and sweet potato soup. It was crazy delicious! The duck confit was so unctuous and just a hint of sweet and garlic. So yummy! And the asparagus was firm and trimmed to perfection. They added carrots and haricot vert. This food was a treat! And to top off my safe pickup, chef Jensen came out and thanked me for the order!! I will come to this restaurant every trip back to Memphis! It is even better than the many accolades it has won! Wow!More
