Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful food, excellent service. Perfectly quiet, get place for our family who hadn’t seen each other in years to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The Chicken Supreme Crepe was fantastic!

Paulette's was perfection. The redfish with lump crab was nothing short of spectacular. Crab cakes were scrumptious, and our server, Ty, was attentive and personable. We dined there for breakfast as well. The veggie omelet was light and smooth with obviously-fresh veggies, and the grits...- yowza. I'm shocked they have any negative reviews. We will be back every time we are in MemphisMore

Over booked and understaffed. Wedge salad had a giant brown core in it. Waited 45min for our mediocre entrees and had to walk to the hostess stand to get our check. Two other tables in our room were complaining. We felt sorry for our server....Worst meal and service of our 18 day road trip through the south.More

We have been to Paulette's numerous times to celebrate special occasions. This was the kind of place that you could make memories. Not so much now. The evening started our well. We arrive early for our reservation, and were seated promptly. That's were the good...service ended. We had asked about bringing our own bottle of wine prior to making the reservation and was informed that we could and the corkage fee was reasonable ($15). Once seated, it took quite a while before we were greeted by a server and given menus. I received a different menu then my husband and therefore not give the same choices for dinner. (We did not realize we were reading from different menus.) I even asked the server why the choices seemed so foreign? She said they were trying to adjust the menu to what was more traditional to Paulette's. They did start us with Popovers and flavored butter, which is a Paulette's tradition and delicious. Then there was long wait before our order was taken for dinner. We were also waiting on the server to open our wine that we brought with us to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. She was not prepared to uncork our wine and asked another server to help. He came to table side to help, but ended up breaking the cork off in our very special and expensive wine. Very disappointing to say the least. We ordered glasses of wine from their menu and were not offered any compensation for their error. Once we ordered, our entrees came in a timely manner and were quite tasty. My husband ordered the redfish and I ordered the salmon. Both were very tasty and cooked well. The sides were nothing special and the veggies on the side were over salted. We were offer a complimentary dessert as it was our anniversary. We will find somewhere else to make memories. . .So disappointing.More

Food was good, for sure. But the highlight was our server, Ty. She was great—attentive and helpful. We loved the chowder and the redfish.

This was our most expensive meal in Memphis and also our worst experience. To be avoided. We booked our reservation via Open Table and arrived a few minutes early and they are still able to seat us which was great. That’s where the good times...ended. We sat there with our menus and were ignored for 30 minutes. Eventually we asked a nearby waiter could we order and he rudely said you are not my table and walked off. He must have gone to get our waitress because she eventually came over and said sorry for the wait like it was only a few minutes rather than neatly a half hour. Our drinks came another 25 minutes after we eventually ordered, and the food soon after that. The food was very good but by now all we wanted to do was leave. We were never offered a second drink throughout our meal. We could see 2 other tables around us with empty wine glasses looking peeved who were also served by the same waitress. A large group served by a different waiter appeared to be waiting an hour for their food and were apologised to on multiple occasions for the delay but they also did not appear impressed as their kids were growing cranky and disruptive.More

Such a disappointing night. Went for our parents 50th wedding anniversary and sure wished it was memorable in another way. Our waitress spilled a coke and just left and didn’t come back until we all finished cleaning it up, even went to wait on more...tables before even helping. Didn’t bring steak knives until after all the food was brought and after we asked for them to eat it with. We felt rushed, she asked us what we wanted to order before we even ordered our cheese plate (which took almost 20 minutes to get)More

Paulette’s breakfast was included in our stay at the wonderful River Inn. And what a treat! We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences here each morning. The vegetarian omelet with breakfast potatoes was superb!! My husband had the All America breakfast and loved the grits. The orange...juice was freshly squeezed and delicious. The only item I can’t recommend is the pancakes. Not so great. Our servers, Anastacia & Arek, were such attentive servers and a delight to talk with, sharing stories with this nosy restaurant patron! I highly recommend going for breakfast!More

Paulette's was a restaurant that had been on our list for a few years- we finally made reservations for a small group after a graduation and were looking forward to it Let me preface this by saying I understand things happen, but it is how...they are handled that matters, and thus my rare very negative review Upon arrival, things seemed odd immediately... no one was at the front desk to greet us- a fellow finally appeared and we told him we had a reservation and our name. He told us they were "running behind" and it might be an extra half hour or so before our table was ready- there seemed to be general confusion.... We went back to a sitting area that was full- the small adjacent bar was unstaffed other than employees randomly going in and out avoiding eye contact It turns out that there was a small fire in the kitchen and they had to use a fire extinguisher, and Paulette's ultimately closed for the night and sent everyone off- why this decision wasn't made earlier and relayed to customers is a mystery... This is the first part of extremely poor communication- the second is sadly tragic and was potentially very dangerous to those inside Paulette's Just prior to a much delayed announcement about the fire, I went back to check on our table as we had been waiting longer than half an hour- no staff was present, and police were storming the patio/restaurant accross the road. There had been a driveby shooting with gunfire exchanged (one person in the car later died of injuries, miraculously no one on the porch was injured)- I watched some of this play out with a few other customers and I believe one or two staff members... no one on staff took charge, warned customers to stay inside, away from windows, etc Fortunately the car apparently sped off after only brief gunfire, and the shooter from the patio was quickly located and cuffed I was able to talk to a police officer and was given quick advice as to which direction to leave safely with my family and rapidly got them and did so. The "fire in kitchen/we are closed" announcement was finally being made in the lounge area just as I reached my family to get them out- the incident across the road was finally mentioned for the first time as well... Credit to the piano player in the lounge who continued to play throughout Again, this could have been so much worse- thankfully no one else was injured and food was ultimately obviously not the concern- the lack of rapid admission and decision making regarding the kitchen fire was bad enough- not quickly warning patrons there was a shooting was inexcusableMore

Great position near to the banks of the Mississippi, sunset views spectacular. Old fashioned decor which was cute. The food was AMAZING!! We had filet Paulette & grilled lamb chops. This is our best meal of our travel in Tennessee so far and my husband...said one of his top 10 ever (& we eat out regularly). Couldn’t manage a starter or desert due to the volume we’ve packed away but saw them coming out and they looked amazing, super size! Mains cost in the region of $40-50 each. Our server Sarah was on point and gave great service to us and all her tables.More
