I really enjoyed McEwen’s. It was very pretty inside with nice staff and great ambiance, whether you sit at the bar or a table. They have valet parking for $8 which we used and it was nice, valet staff were pleasant and efficient. The waiter was nice and professional. The menu is very diverse from good entrees to appetizer to small plates. All have good portions, we all got small plates as our meal with salads and was plenty to get you full. I had the bbq duck enchiladas which were good in flavor, but were more like taquitos than enchiladas. I also had the goat cheese salad with grilled peaches and it was really good. I definitely would come here again!

The pork osso bucco and the spicy shrimp & grits went great together at this high-end, upscale enclave just north of Beale Street. We sat at the wood-paneled attractive bar, where the bartender offered many helpful suggestions. If you need a break from loud, touristy Beale Street, McEwen’s is just a few blocks away.

We enjoyed our family dinner at McEwen's! This was our first visit to Memphis for a glorious wedding and were treated to a meet the family dinner at McEwen's. We cannot use enough superlatives for our dinner and experience in early December. From the appetizers (duck) to dessert (cheesecake), our dinners were extraordinarily delicious! The wreck (?) fish entree was out of this world. It was cooked to perfection and such a new treat from those of us not familiar with this exquisite fish! The service was warm and excellent and even though we were a larger party (approx. 20+) we could not have asked for better service. It was a memorable evening and will recommend to anyone traveling to Memphis. Another side-bar...one of our group lost her i.d. and we called McEwen's after being there. They searched the restaurant and even called us back the next day to say they scoured the place and did not find. (happily, it was ultimately located in the lobby of our hotel!)

We ate with family from out of town. Those who had steaks did enjoy them. I had the catfish and what little flavor that was there was masked by the overwhelming fishy flavor. For $24 the 5 oysters we got were very puny. The desserts were ok. The best thing we had was the cauliflower. I doubt I go out of my way to venture back downtown for this again.

This place is fantastic! I was visiting Memphis for the 1st time in July and this was my favorite meal. The food was on point and really hit the spot. Everything was cooked to perfection and I quickly devoured my rather substantial portion.

Glad we paid attention to the good reviews and dined at McEwens. Decor is open, spare and spacious. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Started with Duck enchiladas followed by seabass as well as red fish, topped off by an incredible key lime pie. All delicious .

Great atmosphere, excellent wait staff service and food was delicious. Food came out quickly. Highly recommend.I had the goat cheese salad and pulled pork sliders. Very good. Other good choices at our table included vegetarian entree, seafood pasta and soup du jour and wedge salad. We were happy & satisfied diners tonight.

This is a very quaint but cozy restaurant with excellent service. My two sisters and I ate dinner here when we were in Memphis. Both sisters had the catfish and I had the redfish. They were the best fish dishes we have had in a very long time and we have traveled a lot in the US and internationally! The cocktails were creative and tasty. For dessert we had the banana cream pie, the crème brûlée and the mango cheesecake. They were all delicious but the banana cream pie was “to die for”!! We loved this restaurant and highly recommend.

This restaurant was everything we could ask for: great service, fresh amazing food and atmosphere. We were looking for a restaurant outside of the hustle and bustle of Beale Street, walking distance from our hotel. We booked a reservation for a table, however we enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktail at the bar so much, that we decided to stay put and have dinner there. Bartenders and the locals were fun and full of interesting information.

Our hotel valet, Billy, was an ambassador for Memphis. When asked for a fine dining recommendation, Billy said “you need to go to McEwen’s on Monroe. I work there a couple of nights a week and it is excellent.” Well Billy told us right! Six of us went for dinner. Had a great server-?Mary? Attentive and informative lady. Great menu with variety. All six diners agreed every single thing at the table was just outstanding! One thing not to be missed: fried oyster appetizer. Unique and all agreed, best they ever had! Don’t miss. Prices were very reasonable for an upscale restaurant. Easy/short walk from Peabody. Kudos to M’s!

Enjoyed our meal at McEwen's. Catfish with brussel sprouts, and mac and cheese was delicious. Second meal included wonderful grits and broccolini. Also enjoyed dessert of cream brulee and banana cream pie. Would recommend for a nice meal.

McEwen's offers a nice menu with variety and good selection of drinks or wine. My husband had the catfish and I had the seafood pasta. Both were delicious! I would recommend this restaurant as a pleasant location for an evening out.

I have to admit that we found Memphis very limited in food options. As we walked looking for a place to eat lunch, a local told us about McEwens. The food was excellent and the staff is very cordial and attentive. The salads and sandwiches were great in terms of taste and portions.

Good food, reasonable price, ok service. Service was rushed from the time we sat down to the time they delivered the check. Food was average. Good but not great. Clearly this is sort of a go to landmark restaurant in Memphis. Feels like they are living off of their reputation and not up to their reputation. Could be a great restaurant if they wanted to be.
