Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We adore staying at this hotel. There is simply nothing that can be improved. The staff are polite and attentive, The restaurant for breakfast cannot be beaten,a huge choice, with waiter service and help yourself buffet the views are amazing . The hotel is spotless....The pool and spa are clean and impressive. The rooms are fabulous comfy and warm. We could stay anywhere on the island but hotel de havelet feels like coming home. We will be back next month, so looking forward to it.More

Breakfast is a feast whether cooked or continental. The choices are overwhelming. Wonderfully presented. Service is excellent.

After having read the glowing reviews on here from fellow hotel guests, we opted to have breakfast here whilst staying at the Best Western. The decor is very dated, especially compared to the beautiful CopenHagen restaurant below. I know it’s rented out for events, but...very much felt like we were attending a conference. The buffet continental option was very sparse (and people have commented on here about the extensive range - this was the not the case for us). A few slices of ham and cheese, a few pastries and then yogurt/fruit and some cereals, so would not claim this was extensive. There were hot options, which we did try, and the eggs Benedict was nice. The staff were fabulous though and the 3 stars is one more star then I’d usually give due to the friendly and accommodating staff. But I would still chose to eat breakfast elsewhere if I stayed here again.More

We were staying at The Hotel de Havalet and had our evening meal in the Wellington Boot restaurant three times. Attila ,the restaurant manager and his team- Pitchie, Stephanie, Marian and Alessia were all very friendly and made our visit most enjoyable. Not only did...we enjoy our evening meals .We thoroughly enjoyed all the lovely breakfasts served upstairs. The breakfast spread is extremely good and the cooked breakfasts were all of a consistently high standard. The evening menu/meals were also very good. I had the crab and avocado salad twice. It was absolutely delicious. I also had the prawn and crab tagliatelli which i didn't rate so highly as it tasted bland and the prawns were hard. My husband chose the three course meals each time and was very happy with both the quality and quantity. We ate outside on the terrace each time. The music system was sparodic and the chairs are not very comfortable but when it got chilly in the evening Pitchie , one of the sweet little waitresses brought us rugs which i thought was a nice touch.More

We had breakfast included in our stay and it was exceptional - with an abundance of choice from full English to healthy cooked breakfasts or fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, etc and unlimited fresh coffee and tea (not from a machine) - perfect poached eggs!

The front desk of the hotel booked a table for two for us on arrival. We ate at 1930 and the Wellington Boot was clearly busy (reservations by phone were attempted while we were waiting - they were full), but space was made for us....The meal was excellent, we had the local sausages and a lovely prawn and scallop dish (cooked to perfection). Deserts followed, an apple tart and chocolate fondant, excellent comfort food puddings. The service was friendly and relaxed, I highly recommend the Wellington Boot and I will certainly back when next on the island.More

In terms of ambience, this is a very different place to Copenhagen downstairs. This is a more traditional restaurant. What they do share is excellent food, well prepared and presented from an interesting menu and delivered to the table by friendly, well trained staff. It...also benefits in that there are great views, boats coming in and out of the harbour and after dark, there is the floodlit castle. Hotel guests have their breakfast here, a meal that puts lots of other hotels to shame. The cold buffet has a greater range than many a hotel that only offer a buffet breakfast. If you want a cooked meal, then it is cooked for you to order and brought to your table; none of the serving yourself congealing bacon and eggs from a hot(ish) dish that so many hotels seem to think represents good serviceMore

We were guests at the hotel and had drinks at the Copenhagen and dinner at the Wellington Boot. The first thing that was very obvious was the difference in atmosphere between the two. Copenhagen was full of people, modern and buzzing and The Welligton Boot...was looking a bit dated and was very quiet. There was a bit of an unusal system in terms of the menu. They had a set menu with the option to pay a supplement on several dishes, which replaced a full a la carte menu. The food was vey tasty though, and we really enjoyed it. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Breakfast here in the morning was fantastic, with a very impressive selection of breakfast choices and a lovely view of Havelet Bay.More

We were a party of 50 and had exclusive use of the Wellington Boot Restaurant. Gennaro and his team were so helpful in organising the event and even printed the place cards for us. They were at the door to greet the guests and usher...them upstairs where they had set up a private drinks area for us. The food and service were excellent and good value too. We will certainly go back there again.More

This is a restaurant where there treat you as a person rather than a client. As vegetarians there was adequate choice in the daily and Tennerfest menus and the manager when we were leaving ensured that we had their specific vegetarian menu to take with...us. The tennerfest option for vegetarians was very interesting and the restaurant should be congratulated for not offering the fare that many places offer at this time of a packet ravioli or a risotto ( although we did have the risotto one night and it was excellent) We had been told about their deserts and they were as good as we had been told.More
