About
The Farehouse is located in the heart of the historic Taylors Mill’s Dock No. 3. The mill began its life as the Southern Bleachery and Piedmont Print Works during the height of the Greenville area’s reign as the Textile Capital of the World. Closing as a mill in 1965, the building found a variety of partial uses until revitalization efforts began in the mid 2000s. While many mill revitalization projects have converted mills into condos and other residential projects, the Taylors Mill is proud to be the largest grassroots project of its kind in the upstate of South Carolina. Today the Taylors Mill seeks to facilitate craft and commerce for a new generation in the heart of Taylors, SC. The Taylors Mill is reclaiming creative community. Our menu focuses on New York style pizza, pub-style appetizers, deli sandwiches, and dinner specials using fresh, locally-sourced meat and produce.

I came and left hungry. Ordered shrimp and grits. Very good however Only 4 shrimp over a small amount of grits. No sausage but sausage flavor. If you're hungry order a salad with it or order something else. The pizza looked amazing. Friends ordered wings and they said they were excellent.

Next to a brewery that offers no food, and in an old industrial section, so this is the only option. The food is good, and they'll deliver it to you in the brewery. I had a very good individual pizza while spouse had a pimento cheese with tomato sandwich, also good. Spouse had an issue with her order: They gave her a small cup of house soup, when she'd ordered a large bowl of Tomato-Basil. They corrected the error and did not charge for the bigger size. So, no complaints about the food. Their prices are on the high side, probably due to the captive audience.

we had a wonderful evening here with children and grandchildren. The restaurant is nice and comfortable Pizza is always recommended but we also enjoy many of their entrees We ordered shrimp alfredo and a caesar salad with salmon in addition to pizza Everything was delicious. Our server was nice and attentive. Our table was waiting at the reserved time which was especially nice with smaller children. Very nice

In 2019 I wrote a review raving about how great the food was and excited to have found the restaurant. Today, we had lunch only to come away really disappointed. Since the pandemic, we have been back a few times and noticed that staffing was limited and food quality varied. We kept coming back despite marginal food quality and limited service. We were cheering for them to get better. Today was our last visit. Service was poor and the food was worse. It started off with our arrival (and that of about 5 other family/groups) standing at the door waiting for them to open at 12pm. At the same time 6 staff are on the other side of the building smoking/vaping. The owner might want to rethink paying his/her team while the revenue source stands at the door waiting. Their meatball appetizer was overcooked and no sauce (which was not very good) could not hide the rubbery texture. My husband had their wings which came out with feathers still attached to skin. You just cannot get past that kind of inattentive to detail. It was a good run, but it’s over for us. Diner beware.

I am not usually one to write a review, but this deserves to be known. Friday evening, after my son's baseball game, our family along with another family decided to eat at The Farehouse. We arrived around 7:15 and asked for a table for 9. She told us it would be about an hour and a half. I stated we could split up in a table of 5 and and table of 4, since we had small children and were two different families. The hostess responded that she wasn't allowed to split us up, but if we wanted a high top table she could get us sat in about 15 minutes (both high top tables behind her were open). We were fine with that and waited. 30 minutes later I went to check on the status and she said it would be a little longer as she just sat another group. We ordered some appetizers and continued to wait. An hour in, after the two high top tables were sat with groups of 3 people and 4 people, we asked if we could sit outside. We were then told they did not have the staff for outdoor dining, yet there had been people sitting out there eating since we arrived. We ordered more food from the menu that they will deliver next door to the brewery, but asked to stay on the "wait list." at 9:20 after we have finished, I had yet to receive a text confirming out table was ready. I asked to speak with the manager and she took my name and phone number, guaranteeing someone would call me the next day to discuss. That phone call never came, hence me writing this review. The food was good, the rest was atrocious.

Eggplant Parmigiana was two almost inch thick rounds of tough eggplant. No flavor and difficult to eat. Potatoes were delicious. Duck breast fat side was not seared and uncooked. Big globe of thick duck fat was very chewy. Was looking forward to good meal and was very disappointed. I won’t return. The best I had was the pimento cheese appetizer.

Four of us went on a Friday night. Two of us got there ahead, so we just sat at the bar to wait. Great bar and bartender. Fun atmosphere. It was not crowded when we arrived but as the night went on it got very crowded. When the rest of our party came, we were seated in the wine room. Shelby, our server, was fantastic! I give her "thumbs up" for the job well done. We first got the Pimento cheese spread with toast points and the beer cheese dip with pretzel. It was all wonderful and enough for sharing! Then the orders consisted of the one 16" Taylors Station Pizza with half Farehouse Salad, two grilled salmon with couscous, asparagus, mushrooms, & pearl onions. Then one dessert of Caramel Delight Pie in honor of Girl Scouts Cookies. Our food was absolutely delicious from beginning to end. This place is becoming my #1 in Greenville. If you have not been here, it is well worth the visit.

The Farehouse is located within the historic Taylors Mill located in Taylors, SC. A historic factory building in Taylors, Greenville County, South Carolina. Founded by former Furman University English professor Bennette Geer (who was operating under the aegis of James Buchanan Duke), and built by the J. E. Sirrine Company of Greenville, the mill operated between 1924 and 1965, with the last historic structure being built in 1952. Michael and Cristy Marut moved to Taylors in the summer of 2015 and have dreamed of opening a restaurant in the Taylors Mill since early 2016 and are proud to join the community with The Farehouse. I am a huge fan of revitalizing these historic buildings and the original features of the old loading dock built into the dining room decor does not disappoint. They did a great job filling in the square footage, but the most comfortable seats seemed to be at the bar. I am not a fan of dining from a bench seat, some cheap chair pads would go a long way here. The bartenders are great and willing to step out on a limb to make a not so popular drink. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with the level of detail they put into preparing drinks, you never recycle any portion of the old drink to make a new one. So just to be safe, ask for new ice, glass and fruit and be sure to dress warm, they don't seem to turn up the heat in the dining room. Cheers!

Food was okay. Service was slow considering they weren’t very busy on a weekday lunch. Salads were enjoyed. Pimento cheese pizza was good... not a lot of pimento cheese but good. I ordered a pizza with several veggies but couldn’t taste them. It wasn’t a bad pizza but I really wanted to taste the veggies. Menu is tempting to come back at dinner but only if we have plenty of time.

Good service. Two out of the three main courses were great: the duck with pearl couscous and the pork belly. The not good- it was burger night, so I went with the burger with the pimento cheese- very disappointing: the patty was thin and well over cooked with little flavor, not authentic pimento cheese at least not by Charleston standards and the bun much too thick and had to jettison it after a few bites. Would return, but obviously skip the burger!

Went for lunch but dinner menu looked a lot more interesting. Not too much for vegans. Soup was good. Black bean burger tasted good and was homemade. Had to scrape the cheese off my salad.

The food was amazing, everyone was very happy with their choice of food. Smoke stack pizza was delicious. The Vodka mill martini with the blue cheese olives was one of the better martinis I’ve had.

Multiple venues opened in an old mill. The Farehouse is of course a restaurant. "Industrial" vibe, food OK. Party of 10 for business, had some appetizers and various entrees. I had the pasta primavera with chicken. My peers who had the salmon: small portions.

Went out with friends who really enjoy this place. We thought it was good but not outstanding. The pizzas we had were good. Server was very nice. The problem was the wait time for everything. For the server, for the food, for a drink and for the bill. We are outside which was a good choice the place is popular and inside can be full and noisy.

Neat location and great atmosphere. Menu not extensive but good variety. Portions are good for the price. Wait staff was friendly. Dining room spaced well for Covid safety and all staff wearing masks.
