I was recently out running work related errands and needed to stop by another store. I got lost and pulled into a parking lot to pull up maps and noticed I was at a BBQ restaurant. I was going to stop for lunch anyway so...I went on inside.
This is BBQ and a buffet. Given recent events I wasn't sure if you could dine inside or not. And this us still buffet, just Covid 19 style. I really wasn't sure what to do. There was an order window and then a cashier. Im trying to figure out how and where I order. Im sure I looked pretty confused. Finally the cashier explains it. So you order then you go through the buffet which is now more like cafeteria style. There are employee stationed along the line and you let them know what you want and then grab your plate at the end.
They have Bbq..bbq chicken, ribs, all kinds of sides. I get beans, pulled pork, corn on the cob, okra, and hushpuppies. I head to my seat and my server asks about sauce. For some unknown reason, here in SC they use a mustard based sauce. Which is 50 kinds of wrong. Im from NC where the sauce is correct. I prefer the vinegar based Eastern style sauce but the sweet tomato based will do. And because your close to the SC/NC border, most restaurant here carry both. You can not grab condiments, your server does that, but you ho grab your own drink.
And the food here...oh..my word..it is delicious. The BBQ..perfect. sides..perfect. Okra..crispy. Everything was just..yumm. It does include dessert which was pie or ice cream and I go for ice cream.
Bbq joints here are not fancy. They are basic and often lots of kitschy country themed decor. This one looks like a log cabin and lots of pigs and a train runs around through out the building. These places attract everyone from young people, old couples, to families and to blue collar and white. Just have to love q. And q fans do not go looking for ambiance..just good food.
When you first pay, there was a wall there so I couldn't see into the dining room. You pay first so I didn't think there were servers. I know covid has hit sit down restaurants hard so even ordering to go I leave about $3. So I put a $3 tip and the woman hands me $3 cash! I had no idea why. Then I go into the dining room and I have a server. Thank goodness I have some extra ones for a tip.
My meal was less than $15 and I got plenty. And could have gone back. But I was full. Service was great. Food was..wow. I'm very glad in this case I got lost!More
