Wow…what a disappointment. This used to be (pre-Covid) a really good place to visit. Always packed…live music. Made a reservation for tonight because we had not been here since last November. We noticed the menu changed…a lot…back then. It was okay, but we still had...high hopes. They were really dashed tonight. The wings were frozen and not good. I mean, wings should not come out within eight minutes of ordering them. And my chicken pot pie…was not. It was bland chunks of chicken over a poor BISCUIT…very hard to cut in fact…with some kind of strange sauce. And NO PEAS…NO CARROTS. Green beans? C’mon. It was almost not edible, but I tried. Unfortunately, we made a reservation (absolutely NOT NEEDED). There were only three other tables with couples there. We will not give them another chance. Please, do yourself a favor…go elsewhere.More

This was our first visit to Southern Culture but definitely not our last! We went on a Tuesday night. It was not very crowded so we were seated immediately. We sat over by the fireplace and it was fantastic, as it was a bit cool...out. The bartender came over and asked for our drink order. I asked for a bottled beer. They do not have bottled beer, however, they did have my pick on draft. My friend ordered a bourbon, however, they did not have one that he drinks but they did have one that he drank years ago, so he had that one. I ordered grilled salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and a house salad. My friend had the shrimp and grits. Although the shrimp and grits do not come with a side, he ordered a side of okra. Everything was delicious! Thomas, the bartended, was so very friendly and helpful. I actually thought he was the Manager. We will definitely return for dinner! Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food!More

Five of us met up here for brunch to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We were seated after waiting about 40 minutes. I assume they are struggling (like most places) to find wait staff as there were several open tables. That being said, our waiter was...great. The food? Not so much. The “cheddar grits” had no cheddar and were bland and watery. My waffle was so tough I could barely cut it and the chicken tender with it was incredibly dry—neither were edible. Tabasco maple syrup? Nope, just cold regular syrup. Sausages and eggs were cold and bland. My daughter’s boyfriend was so kind to pick up the check, however, I would love to get him a refund. The food was truly dismal. Sadly, this is not the first time I have had a bad experience at Southern Culture. Skip this place.More

This is the third time I have visited Southern Culture over the last few years. Had an odd experience this time. My wife and I arrived at 6:35 and spoke with the hostess. She told my wife we were 5th on the wait list ,...took our number to call us when a table was ready and told us it would be 1 hour. We looked around and counted 7 open tables. We sat at the bar while we waited. Both bartenders were excellent and offered great service. We watched as 7 tables were sat with out us receiving a call or text over the 25 minutes we were at the bar. I walked to the hostess and she didn’t recognize me since she spoke to my wife when we arrived. She asked how many and I was immediately seated. She didn’t even check the waiting list and it was as if she had just abandoned using it altogether. We had the penne pasta and chicken and waffles. My wife can’t handle a lot of spice, so she got the plain syrup. Both meals were just alright. A good place to have a drink but maybe not a whole meal.More

Listen, I don't know what's taking me so long to come try Southern culture brunch. But it was bomb! About eight out of town friend here for brunch and I love how cozy the private corner is by the bar with the fireplace is such...a log cabin vibe. The food and the service was great. Austin took great care of us the maple bourbon French toast was magnificent I even added it inside of the honey hot chicken to spice things up and it was perfect the cocktails were not too sweet but just right. I will absolutely be back for brunch soon.More

Take hearing protection . The restaurant had live music Saturday night which was too loud and detracted from enjoying eating. The hostess was less than welcoming. The wine pours are stingy. The food portions are appropriate. Food prep time was fair. The Food presentation was...good. The fried chicken was good. The meatloaf wasn't very good...better at the cracker barrel. The peach salad was good. Our waitress was very nice but not well trained. Doubtful I'll go back.More

First of all this place is NOISY!!! Adding some kind of sound baffles would be wise. Now as for the food … it was 45 min to wait for a table and an hour or so for the food. As I write this I still...haven’t gotten my food so I cannot review it. The server, who was friendly, came and suggested that we order appetizers because it was going to take awhile for the food to be ready. Sounds more like a way to just drum up extra sales to me. Oh and just now we were told that our ticket was lost!!! The kitchen failed to expedite our order and we decided to leave. Last thing is that neither the kitchen many or the main manager made no attempt to apologize or offer anything.More

Southern Culture Review My husband and I hosted our son’s rehearsal dinner at Southern Culture (“SC”) May 2021 and couldn’t have been more pleased with the event. Every facet of the event exceeded our expectations. Specifically, I’d like to note how the restaurant performed in...the areas I find critical to an event’s success: 1. Communication: My main contact for the event booking/contract was Renee. Renee promptly responded to my calls and emails. Her responses were always thorough, and I never felt I had to follow-up with her on incomplete items. As the event planning progressed, others (chef, on-site manager, etc.) were added to our communications. This was easily done through SC’s in-house communications system. The system captures all previous communications, so that the whole team can be kept apprised of plans…nothing gets lost, which is a huge bonus as a three-month plan progresses and in environments where staff is subject to change. 2. Customization: Our dinner featured a specific theme, which I wanted to subtly implement into everything (meals, place cards, décor, etc.). SC allowed us to fully realize this vision within their space. For example, they used our custom cups and napkins in the bar area, they used a specific sausage from our hometown in one of the main courses, we placed custom signage throughout the restaurant, we created our own custom menus for the bar area and tables, and they provided an area for us to place and distribute our custom parting gifts. Additionally, SC allowed us to have four different vendors provide items outside the restaurant’s purview: flowers, balloons, music (a band), and a bakery for a custom dessert we ordered through SC. These last four vendors were key to bringing life to all the other customized items. (Note: both the florist, band, and bakery were selected based on a list of recommendations by SC…and all were fabulous.) 3. Food/Drink Quality: We ordered three appetizers to be passed by the wait staff pre-dinner. Dinner itself consisted of a salad, choice of three main courses, and dessert (one custom and one off the main menu). Additionally, the bar served a custom cocktail in the name of the bride-to-be. All of the items were wonderful. We received many compliments from our guests in regard to the quality and taste of the food. All items were served as intended…appetizers were abundant, hot food was hot, cold food was fresh, etc. Also, of particular importance…all tables were served at approximately the same time, which is sometimes hard to do in a banquet setting. Although not our primary driver for choosing SC, I would also like to note that I found the food/drink costs to be quite affordable. Portions were large, and I can confidently say no one went away hungry or unsatisfied. 4. Staff: The staff for our evening did an amazing job. They were everywhere, ready to help with any and all needs. At the same time, they were unobtrusive. They did their job very well without ever getting in the way or hovering. I can honestly say that I’ve never held an event where the staff has performed as well as the SC team. From the bartenders to the chef, the waiters, the technical staff, and the managers…every single SC employee was courteous, positive, well-groomed, joyful and ready to jump in and serve. 5. Ability to Handle On-Site Issues: As a former event planner, I can tell you that there’s always problems that arise on-site at an event. The real gauge of a venue is how they deal with those problems. We had three issues arise the day of our event, and SC took care of them both so well that they did not impact us at all. A huge bravo to SC! The first was that the restaurant air conditioner broke. Prior to us arriving for set-up, management had already brought temporary units in, and we found they cooled the event quite well. Secondly, we had a slight issue with our home movie playing on their big screen and sound system. We quickly shuffled a few of our guest speakers, and the SC crew calmly and quickly fixed our screen issue so that the show could go on! And lastly, we had a guest arrive that was not on our final count. SC was prepared for this, and we just pulled up a chair without any issues regarding food availability, etc. I do not hesitate to recommend Southern Culture as a venue for a special dinner or life event. If I didn’t live out of state, I’d already be planning my next party at SC!More

Stopped by early Sunday afternoon for brunch. The hostess told us it was a 30 minute wait for a table, which since they were crowded, we thought was reasonable. After a 20 minute wait, we were told a table was ready, and were escorted to...a knee high coffee table, completely unacceptable for eating a meal from. After we refused this table, we were told it would be a short wait for another. 30 minutes later, no table, and multiple parties who arrived after us were seated. Upon going to the hostess station, she informed us she thought we had left! After expressing a faint apology, she took us to a outdoor table (the smallest on the patio! ) little better. We had waited so long we decided to stick it out because we were hungry. In hindsight, we should have left. The lobster fries appetizer was not very good, and the French toast absolutely nothing special. Our waitress had a problem with the bill at a nearby table, and devoted all her attention and time to sorting that out. Our drinks were empty for two thirds of our meal, and she only returned to our table after we were finished eating. She did comp the appetizer and our soft drinks, but this did little to help the otherwise horrible experience eating there. We will never visit this place again...More

Had a quick lunch on a family outing. It’s a store that sells kitchen items and food and drink. It’s a bit pricey but the sandwiches, service and atmosphere was amazing. Great view and outdoor seating in a very good location worth a second visit.

Came here for Saturday brunch - we had never been before, and really had no real expectations but I was very pleasantly surprised. The Bloody Mary was amazing, we ordered the french toast and eggs benedict and shared and I'm so glad we did -...they were both pretty darn amazing. The bonus is, there was live music and we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment with our delicious brunch. If i lived in Greenville, I would want to come here very often!More

We stopped in for Saturday brunch. The menu is great, but the food we chose did not live up to the description. The avocado toast is a thick piece of bread with a very thin layer of avocado spread making each bite dry. The bread...overwhelmed the flavor. The cheddar grits also had little cheese flavor. But the service was great and the ambiance delightful, and we will try again with different menu choices.More

Told us we had 45 minute wait. It was over hour and told us where are table ( hostess pointed to it ) and then gave it to someone else. I asked manager to tell hostess not to confirm the table if it actually wasn't...the table we would get. She wouldn't agree and made us upset. We were standing with masks on and told us we had to go stand in the rain. This is ridiculous ! On Valentine's Day too. Horrible and we have spent lots money there and literally put us out in the rain. We have been patrons here for several years and will not be back.More

I wanted the food to be better. My husband and I went here as it was so recommended. The ambiance is cute! I love the physical space and the interior and they have a cute outside area. But, I was really underwhelmed by the food....It wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t great. The fried chicken wasn’t crispy fried...you could taste the flour. The waffle wasn’t crispy either. The fried okra was fried well, but it wasn’t old style fried okra..it was too battered and the entire pod was fried, which any true southern cook will tell you is the lazy way. The entire pod is usually too tough, unless you cut it and crispy pan fry it with just a little dredging in the flour. So, the food was not bad, but not great. We may go back and give it a second try, my husband loved the whiskey flight and our server was really goodMore
