Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The ambiance here is definitely 5 stars. I went for tea and dessert over the course of a couple of days. The tea was really nice, especially on a cool and rainy day. The coconut cake was good, the German chocolate cake was a miss...for me, but the sweet potato cake knocked it out the park.More

We ordered a bunch of their cakes for our wedding and they were all devoured! A fan favorite was definitely the sweet potato cake! And Brick street made it so easy and even helped us rent out a stand to use for our cake display....So thankful we were able to highlight a Greenville local bakery at our wedding and so thankful for all the work they put in to make it a flawless experience for our wedding day!More

Wife and I had some business in the area, so we decided to try this place for lunch. Good choice! She had the salmon salad and I had the reuben, with a side salad. Both dishes were excellent. The reuben was on marble rye, and...just the right size to be manageable but still filled me up. Side salad was really good too - had grapes and blueberries in it. Italian dressing was delicious. Wife said salmon was very good too. We got one of the "love muffins" to take home for dessert (haven't eaten it yet). Server, "Alan M." was spot on and very knowledgeable about the food.More

I found Brick Street Cafe on the internet while searching for a local bakery/dessert place. I purchased a slice of their Peanut Butter. It was delicious! The cake itself was moist with chocolate chips in the cake and the peanut butter frosting is delicious!! One...of the best cakes we’ve ever had! Highly recommend this place at least for their desserts.More

This place is so lovely. I called to make a reservation. They sat us in our own little place. It is a wonderful atmosphere. I had the fruit plate which consists of delicious chicken salad, crackers, fresh fruit and their signature Love Muffin. My favorite!...We took home a chocolate cupcake and their famous sweet potato cupcake. They have a variety of cakes, but the sweet potato cake is the best. If you haven’t been, you need to go.More

Visited for lunch. Several reviews comment on food quality and on a previous visit my shrimp and grits were swimming in cheese but yesterday’s Reuben sandwich with walnut slaw was delicious and the carrot cake was as good or better than any I have ever...enjoyed. Service was efficient but brusque. Asked for a wine list and was told “we don’t really do wine, what sort do you want?” Before being served a perfectly nice Chardonnay. Fun room and decor though. Live music (sax player) a nice touch.More

A girlfriends weekend get-a-way that started out as a disaster was sweetened (literally) after a complete stranger recommended Brick Street Cafe for desserts. We found this sweet little restaurant in Greenville very charming. Loved the overall retro atmosphere. We were not greeted at the door...and the restaurant was quite busy with various parties. We finally located the bakery section in the heart of the restaurant and was tempted by the various selections of desserts. The person who suggested Brick Street also recommended the sweet potato cake. We chose a large piece of peanut butter cake and sweet potato cupcakes (they were recommended after all) to go. The peanut butter cake was moist and did not disappoint, but the sweet potato cupcakes were absolutely delicious! Not overly sweet, just perfectly moist with the right amount of icing. Regrettably we just stopped in for dessert. However, if I should ever find my way back to Greenville, I will make sure to add Brick Street to my list of restaurants to try!More

My friends and I often enjoy special celebration lunches at Brick Street Cafe. We had lunch today and were very disappointed. The menu has gotten smaller and we felt the food was not as good as before. They were out of soup and crabcakes by...12:45. The sweet potato cake was delicious but there was a lot less frosting than we’ve had before. Our waiter was very hurried and was not attentive…we definitely felt we were an imposition to him. Very disappointed.More

I used to be a weekly visitor, moved for 2 years and just moved back. Wow, has quality dropped. The crab cake used to be fat and lumpy, it's a pancake now...all mush. Pasta salad? Dry as a bone. Not good. A real shame.

Has been our Go To special restaurant but no more. You have to stand in line at a counter to order and take your beverage back to your table. The food is served on paper plates but with real silverware. 🤷🏼. I had shrimp and...grits and it was served in a sheet of aluminum foil that had been shaped into a bowl and placed on a paper plate. There was only one server for the entire restaurant and no, he couldn’t keep up. My wife and I both have experienced upset stomachs since arriving back home. $50 for that? No Thank You!More

Had lunch with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We eat at Brick Street often, but always on our birthdays. She had the shrimp salad which, while different than it used to be, she enjoyed. It used to have a hard boiled egg. Not any...more and the shrimp are now grilled. I had the fruit salad /chicken salad plate with love muffin. The muffin I ate a small portion of and was warm and delicious. The chicken salad was off. At one time it had finely chopped walnuts and onion. Didn’t see or taste any of that. It was dry and the mayo had to have Greek yogurt or something and it was the overriding flavor. The fruit: This is August. Fresh fruit is plentiful. Not on my plate! What I got was a few grapes two pieces of melon and a lot of canned peaches and pears (at least drain them better)and 2 slices of fresh orange. For their prices they could do better. Cake was exceptional. Our waiter was not. Not overly attentive. Had to ask for more water and a dessert menu twice before he said, “There’s no menu. This is what we’ve got... It only got busy our last 15 min there.More

In this day with all the Covid rules, this place is doing their part. The food was good. Atmosphere was great. The servers wore mask and gloves. They cleaned as people left. We had a great lunch there.

Customer service at Brick Street is historically terrible, but my sister and I keep going back for the cake. Not wanting to get our lunch at one place and dessert at another, we decided to order our lunch at Brick Street as well. I paid...$9 for the worst tuna salad sandwich of my life - inside of some store-bought wheat bread and not the croissant listed on their outdated menu. $2 for a side item. Not one of the employees smiled at us or spoke unless absolutely necessary. To top it off, I was reassured that the tuna salad sandwich would have no nuts, but something in it elicited an allergic reaction from me anyway - was it the careless kitchen staff? Cross contamination? A message poorly relayed from the cash register attendant? Who knows. All I know is Brick Street will not have my business again, except perhaps to purchase a slice of cake from time to time.More

We had a fantastic meal. Two Reubens and she got the tomato dill soup and I had the hand cut fries. It was VERY busy so service was a little sluggish and very loud but overall it was a terrific lunch. I definitely recommend this...place!More
