Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are regular visitors to this restaurant. We love being able to dine in an elegant setting without feeling compelled to dress up like we’re going to the Queen’s coronation. We like the fact that the food isn’t over seasoned. This allows the customer the flexibility to season according to his preference. Mashed potatoes or grits are a common component in se real entrees. Both are prepared wonderfully well. We recommended cutting the amount served in half and increasing the serving size of the sides.
We will definitely return.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday with no reservations. Got a table on the porch with no wait, however due to social distancing, we were the last to be seated for lunch. Good social distancing & waiter wore his mask the whole time. The porch was very comfortable & quaint, with the huge magnolias in the front giving lots of shade. It was a very hot summer day, but even my husband, who is always hot, was comfortable on the porch. They were short of staff, and I suspect it was the owner serving us. But even though he was the only server we saw, we had our glasses of iced tea refilled quickly and felt well taken care of. We did have to wait a bit for our lunch, but we were not in a hurry, and the breeze was pleasant on the porch. My husband got the fried steak which he said was good. I got the Edgefield burger and sweet potato fries. Great thick burger done just the way I like and the sweet potato fries were excellent. Not too done & not greasy, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Overall, we were pleased, and will definitely go back.

We have always been very pleased with the friendly service and the fine cuisine at the Edgefield. Many fresh items come from the Grill's own garden!
Others with whom we have gone to the Grill have been equally happy with their experiences.
Prices are still reasonable.
A nice place.
Go there!

Ordered the Blackened Fish, the portion was tiny, owner claimed that the fish shrunk. The cold slaw was not edible, I doubt that a hungry rabbit would eat it. The French fries were good. The salt in the shaker had solidified into a clump and wouldn't come out even when the cap was taken off.
My wife got the daily special which was Fried Chicken. The coating was crispy but bland. If you are on a no flavor diet, you are in luck. My wife ordered broccoli, she received one floret and not a big one.
My daughter's expensive hamburger was the winner of the entire meal.
Recommendation unless you have masochistic tendencies, save your money and go someplace else, any place else.

Charming location in a charming southern town. The Grille had lots of local style and frumpy elegance that was very welcoming. The food was delicious. A mix of great local classics and a few Asian selections thanks to a friendly Chinese lady chef.
Our group all swooned over the Chinese dumplings clearly homemade. Bang Bang shrimp were fried shrimp in an Asian inspired sauce. The fried green tomatoes were perfection and true to their heritage. The all-American chicken salad was well executed with lots of garnishes making it more special. A hungry guy said his hamburger was moist and cooked exactly to his order with perfect french fries.
The menu had quite a few choices for starters, salads, mains and desserts so lots of selections. And all that we had and all that others had were personally made in the busy kitchen. Worth the trip and worth going back.

Worth the trip! This beautiful home has been converted into a restaurant. We had fried green tomatoes, homemade steamed gyoza, and fried shrimp and it was all delicious. I’m a fry snob, and their fries are amazing.

This was recommended to us. But you need a reservation. Understandable. But no one answered the phone. We stood outside the door and no one came to wait on the seated customers. I know we are in uncharted territory but communication would help.

We were welcomed warmly. The attention to every detail at the table is appreciated. We especially like the fact that the restaurant doesn’t have the stuffy atmosphere that many similar places have. If there was a minus to mention it would be that the NY strip was a bit tough. It might be worth checking with the beef vendor. We will certainly be back. This is arguably the best restaurant in town.

Beautiful old house just off the central square in Edgefield. Reservations for brunch are essential. No walk ins accepted the Sunday we were there. Great menu with lots of options. I had the BLT with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. Delicious as was the fried okra side dish. Lovely setting. Very nice service.

We ordered the club sandwich and BLT. Also had the fried asparagus appetizer. The food was really great. The establishment was not so great. Very old home, which I love, but this house needs a lot of renovations and cleaning. Window sills were extremely dirty, dust and dirt all along baseboards. The fireplace was covered in webs. The front porch and walkway were falling apart and trash and weeds had taken over.
The sparkle was covered in grim. 😞

We found this place over the summer, and have been enjoying it since! The salmon over grits and the shrimp and grits are great, especially. The service is always wonderful, and we love the old-timey atmosphere!

Built in 1906, this house was transformed into a restaurant in 1991. Claims to be renowned for its fine Southern cuisine, however the menu is somewhat eclectic with some Asian dishes. Our lunch was delicious. The Christmas decorations and music added a pleasant seasonal ambiance. I wish we could have toured the whole house.

We had a fairly large group (seven) lunch here. For many of us, it was a first visit. The stately old house is transformed into a restaurant with the walls adorned by local and state memorabilia. Our room was loaded with materials related to Strom Thurmond, who was from that area. I had the shrimp and grits and found it to be a substantial dish packed with flavor. There were several large tiger shrimp in the dish, along with chunks of spicy Andouille sausage. True to the menu description it did have a somewhat smoky nuance. The grits were superb. Several of my fellow diners had burgers (huge and good) and grilled salmon. The place was only moderately crowded for this midweek lunch. Service was a little slow in terms of getting the food out, but the waitress kept the water and iced tea flowing while we talked and waited. Good food, but if you need to get back for a business meeting or similar engagement, based on our wait time for the food, factor in a little cushion on the front end.

This gem serves the best fried asparagus ever! I've had the salmon & Ahi Tuna-superb! Their specialty is shrimp & grits. Even been written up in Southern Living. I have not had that as it is not my favorite dish-I'm from NY! The cook comes out to check to chat and on his meals. We complimented him on the presentations. They have a friendlky hostesss while the owner is often the server. His wife is Asian and makes some of the food too. The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance and nice music. One of the things I like best is it is small and quiet. Makes conservation easy. Highly recommended.
